How to flavor some steamed veggies

Planning on having some steamed veg with dinner tonight (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower), but don't know what to put on them for a little flavor.
Please don't tell me to eat them plain, that just isn't going to fly in my family. We're taking babysteps.
I would usually have put butter and salt
Any yummy, non-fatty suggestions?

Parmasan cheese?0

Lemon pepper, lemon juice, seasoned salt, Italian seasoning, light Italian salad dressing (really good on steamed green beans!), balsamic vinegar, a tiny bit of extra virgin olive oil...0
-
Soy sauce!0

Some salsa is a great addition to veggies, especially if you can find an all natural one. Cheese, low-fat of course. Herbs. Lemon juice.0

Soy sauce!
My thoughts exactly!0 -
Yes! I knew there was something obvious I was forgetting! ; )0

I love herbamare....yes its salt...but a tiny bit goes a long way
or any herb is awesome0 -
Lemon Pepper and Soy Sauce have sodium in them ...if you are trying to avoid that. Parmesan cheese is good0

sirachi!0

Mrs. Dash and lemon pepper are tasty.0

I used to avoid butter or margerine until my doctor and my dietician informed me that your body needs a certain amount of fat intake. Believe it or not they suggested unsalted butter for flavor. The margerines and soft spread "butters" are higher in fat than plain ole butter. I would use unsalted butter with Mrs Dash and or lemon pepper..0

Laughing cow cheese wedges. I had some light creamy swiss on my broccoli last night. Yum!0

Get a spice blend - but watch your sodium intake. I like a Cajun spice blend or one of those Mrs Dash blends.
Soy sauce and parmesan cheese are the other two good options others have posted here.0 -
What's wrong with butter, salt, and pepper? It doesn't take much butter to make your veggies taste better, and fat isn't bad for you. As long as it fits into your calorie budget, and it's real food, eat what you want.0

McCormick Perfect Pinch Mediterranean Herb. Has a little sea salt. 65mg of sodium for 1/4 tsp. Or, if you like something stronger like Parmesan or Romano cheese, try the Salad Supreme. I LOVE it on meat.0

Mrs.Dash table blend - it's salt free :-)0

I used to put garlic salt on everything so now I use garlic powder to flavor all my veggies and I like the taste better. I still use Land O Lakes Light Canola Butter for some veggies (it's 50 cal for a whole tablespoon and taste just like real butter). I also like lemon pepper on veggies.0

I usually cook them with a tad of olive oil, garlic powder, a splash of lemon juice and fresh cracked pepper.0

Soya sauce is great, I use it to 'fry' mushrooms too. Put a little water in the base of a frying pan and sprinkle soya sauce on the mushrooms. They taste like they've been fried!
Put a Vegetable stock cube in the water if you are boiling the veg and it gives flavour to the veg, or after cooking put some fresh coriander or parsley/basil on the veg.0 -
I use butter buds or Molly McButter.0

Once you get used to eating veg without sauces and butter, they are quite tasty. I eat jacket potatoes on their own now wihout butter, salt or anything on them and they taste really nice. This time a few months ago, I would have thought the idea was gross! x0

There's a seasoning called Jane's Krazy Mixed Up Salt that makes EVERYTHING taste awesome! I also love Onion Mrs. Dash. Either of these with a little of the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray are really good.0

HIGHLY RECOMEND
Gia Russo balsamic glaze.
30 calories / TBS
hard to find
Taste great on salad, veggies, meat everything.
Sweet, sticky, nutty.
Make your own by slowly reducing balsamic vinegar to about 1/3 original volume.
OR
Lemon Juice
ALSO
Roasting for 10 minutes at 400 degrees is another alternative to steaming.
Do it on aluminum foili and there is nothing to clean.
Splurge and rub some Olive Oil on the veggies before roasting0 -
I've been adding sea salt and pepper to my broccoli, and find I don't need the butter. If keeping within my fat goals wasn't an issue, I would use real butter, but I seem to be going over my fat goal provided by mfp.0

MRS> DASH! I LOVE IT!
Carribean Citrus
Chili lime
lemon pepper
italian medley
^^^^^ these are my favorites!0 -
Keep it simple: fresh lemon juice makes all steamed veg sparkle and burst with deliciousness! Perhaps serve with a little feta cheese0

I like to use Tone's Garlic and Herb seasoning. I got it in a giant container at Costco, add it to all kinds of foods. It doesn't have any salt, so you may want to add a bit if you like salt.0
