You also forget to mention that for many people, myself included, sugar makes the whole process of losing weight far easier, and far more likely to stick with it, and end up far healthier overall!

That OP, no doubt from a paleo site, is scaremongering and propaganda at its finest!

Wow. That's a giant list of causation instead of correlation.

Guess we should all stop eating EVERYTHING, since sugar is in basically all food in some way or another. Oy.

    20.Sugar can lead to alcoholism

I'd seriously question this. I'd be interested in the research carried out that lead to these conclusions.
A friend of mine in AA claims a lot abstinent alcoholics turn to sugar.

LOL @ #101: Because we all know that every summer thousands of youngsters flock to beaches everywhere to Gummi-Bong chocolate syrup and pound fifty-cent drafts of taffy only to get so sloshed on sucrose that they end up flashing the whole (candy) bar and inviting some random person back to their hotel room for Twinkies.

Sketchy science reads sketchy. If suger were anywhere near as intoxicating as alcohol it would be off the shelves near the breakfast cereal and on the shelves next to the whiskey tomorrow.

No it wouldn't. They are trying to keep people addicted so the Dr bills and pharmaceuticals ring up high from keeping people sick and fat.

Yes, but sugar makes you happy.

I use to ban most sugar out of my diet but I'm much happier now I eat it in moderation. I don't eat more than 1 bar of chocolate a week and don't touch soda drinks. I get my sugar from fruit and healthy snacks.

I don't want to live a boring and long life, I want to be healthy and enjoy every minute!

This is really hard for me to admit, but I feel really safe among you people and know that you all love me implicitly and without judgement.

Sugar...sugar touched me in my naughty place.

    *sob*

At first, I felt like it was my fault for eating the whole bag of jelly beans. But now, through a lot of therapy, I can finally say with certainty that I was manipulated, seduced and abused by sugar. God, it feels so good to say that!

I thought I was the only one until I found MFP, but now I see others on a daily basis struggling with the after-effects of sugar abuse.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE AND IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!

We were, all of us, targeted by a sinister compound that sneaks in unawares and before you know it: it's in your mouth and then - your pants.

We're all here to support you. You don't have to be ashamed anymore.

Why else would you dress like that?

I suspect that's where the 124 facts came from.

Funny the guy that did the twinkie diet and lost had low chlorestoral and no high blood pressure. Of course he exercised and maintained a specific calorie intake to lose with just twinkies.

74.Sugar can cause an increase in delta, alpha, and theta brain waves

Another thing people on the Paleo diet make sure to avoid. Functioning brains.

Whatever. Let's see a study that supports every one of those claims.

    I agree.

And dang, here I thought it was heredity that led to my myopia as nearly every single family member of mind is either near-sighted or has an astigmatism... Sugar is just like everything else... it can be a catalyst for something in someone, but not always and not in everyone... just like not all smokers get lung cancer or emphysema.

I seriously doubt the validity of those "facts" the OP copied and pasted. Too many "cause" statements... Even if there was a correlation between sugar and all of those "facts", correlation is not causation.
