Here is the deal, fellas......... if you leave it up, we get toilet water on YOUR favorite playground. Then, said playground is shut down for maintenance and out of spite. It truly IS up to you, BUT, she who holds the PY holds the power. Go ahead, leave it up. In my house, I dont say a word about it, and if I notice it, I put it down and dont mind. But when I get an *kitten* bath, I wont say a word about it either. But the next time you try to get cozy, I will remind you that I have recently had a swim in the commode, and to help you remember, I will be giving it a little time.

South park teaches me that if we don't put the seat down then women can fall in and die.

I don't want that to happen.

Also we are using the toilet all wrong. You should reverse straddle it. That's why that shelf is there, for your comic book and chocolate milk. Plus you can just flush without having to look down at your feces.

    Reverse straddle....HAAAAAAAAAAAAhAAAAAAAAA!!!!! Love it!

    I  Butters!

And don't forget that you are supposed to use the safety belt when you sit on the toilet.

Otherwise we get a ticket :-(

I think it's silly when people sit without checking.
I also think it's lazy when people can't be bothered to put the seat down.

Mind you, I believe in putting the LID down when one is done (and I do so consistently). So... I'm not sure why it's so hard to put the seat down...

Both Seat and Lid down. 1) keeps kids, dogs and stuff out of the bowl, 2) Looks better, 3)keeps someone from falling in, and last but not least 4) Fung Shui (spelling?) says energy flows out of the house and down into the nether world if the lid is up.

I never understood why this has always been such a issue? If its' up and you need it down pull it down and vice versa! That being saying it's always down at my house guess my guy is just trained that way.
You must have been fortunate enough to not get out of bed @ 2 a.m. and have to go, and splash.... now you're wide awake sitting in toilet water... that's when it BECAME AN ISSUE LOL... wasn't really Laughing Out Loud at the time..... I mean... toilet seat down, cover down... you have to lift it to use it, so put it back the way it was intended to be....

Its cleaner if the lid and seat are put down prior to flushing.

BUT, guys remember if you happen to leave the seat up and your very pregnant sleepy wife sits down with out looking it can hurt her and the baby. When I was pregnant with my son a women was rushed into the obgyns office by her husband, the ob sent them straight to the hospital in an ambulance. She fell in, struggled to get out and fell on the floor. All I knew at the time was her water broke early and she had fallen directly on her belly. Because I did not know her personally I never learned what happened at the hospital.

So while both party's should help clean the bathroom and put the lid and seat down guys really need to remember to do so for their family's safety.

ok here's the truth. I put the one down in the bathroom me and my wife share and I leave the one up in the kids bathroom hopeful that some day my daughter will be the type of girl that puts it back up out of courtesy. because that what it is all about, who is going to be the bigger person.

I'm trying to redefine compromise in my kids eyes so they don't always think that it means that the women always gets her way. ;p

We have dogs and children. Not only does the seat go down but so does the lid. Solves the problem.

We also close the lid BEFORE every flush! It helps contain all those particles from flying in the air and spreading germs!

This wouldn't work for me because I frequently need to verify if its about to overflow so I can take action and cut off the water valve.

Well since I have been the victim of falling my big behind inside the bowl on more than one occasion, lol, we all now (even the kids) put both seat and lid down after use. Easy solution although it still "slips" my husband's mind occasionally.

Women are lazy. We have to pick it UP then PUT IT DOWN... it should be 50/50. I put it up, you put it down.

I have to clean it, therefore it is my way. That one time at 2 am, when everyone got woke up was not a happy time. So mine is down.

I couldn't care less in our upstairs bathroom...

However... I DESPISE having to check to see if the seat/lid is down in the downstairs bathroom when we get unexpected company.

AND I had to worry about my daughter when she was younger.

Seems to be a power trip thing with my husband - he REFUSES to put it down EVER...

While I put the lid down to flush personally, why is it the man's responsibility to accommodate a woman neglecting to look where she is putting her *kitten*? And why is it only this one room where the future location of said posterior not checked? You check for gum before you sit on a bench, right?

Oh the lid is put down for aesthetics.......I didn't know you could use that word for the bathroom. Me personally I keep the whole thing closed up, lid has to be down. Why because when something falls off in there I'm the one the kids call to remove it. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww daddy.

I think if you had to lift the seat to pee then you should return it to the position it was in when you got in there (lid down seat down), that sounds pretty reasonable to me. When I go after I finish I put the lid back down, when I flush I don't like the idea of it spraying into the air and all that.
