What would you change your name to if you could?

I've always felt like my name doesn't fit me--It's Christina. It seems like Ashley or Sarah would have been a better "fit" for me. I even feel awkward saying my name aloud.

What would you change your name to?

I created a fictional character for a novel I was writing. His name was Nick Sharpe. If I had to pick another name, it would be that.

    My first name is Sinead..

I wouldn't change my name, but I would change how it's spelt!

Everyone thinks you actually say it like how it's spelt, when it's actually pronounced shenaid

    ^^^ I like it!
I sometimes think what I use, "goddess of the universe" , comes of a tad pretentious.

What kind of oblivious cretins do you meet who don't know how to pronounce Sinead?

I love mine. Named after a Johnny Cash song... can't get much cooler than that unless you really are a boy named Sue!

Plus, I can easily shorten it to Lori when I don't want to bother being unique.

It's an extremely rare name in Australia. I'm also pretty sure growing up people who are ages 7-20 wouldn't know how to say it. As I get older, more and more people seem to know it. I had one guy I met last week who spelt it chenade after I said it to him.. was oblivious to the name. It all just comes down to the persons exposure

My best friend didn't like her first name and had no middle name, so she spent $40 and got it changed! She went from Lisa to Elisa Misette.
I used my mother's last name for a while because it was easy to spell, but people still asked me to spell it; it's Scott!
When people tell me they don't like their name I tell them for $40 they can fix that, (in NC).
  • Nope, I have never liked my name. It's Shelly. I would like the name Shay, so I usually spell my name shey :) and say it like it's shay :)

What a fun question! I'm obsessed with names but have never thought about changing my own?? Weird. I love the name Merry (yes-- Merry) but it's probably not mischievous enough for me. I'd probably go with my grandmother's middle name, Mae, because it's pretty and throwback and that woman is awesome.

I like my name. Never had a problem with it. It's Jaymie.

I don't like girly-girl names now, but when I was a kid I really wanted to be named Jessica (after the Sweet Valley High Twins). My friend and I used to pretend we were Jessica and Elizabeth...lol

I rather like my name: formal - Charles; know as dub. My last name however starts with a W (Wright). I think I would rather it start with a C or another early in the alphabet letter. As it was, grew up always sitting in the back row in school. Though 25th academically in my graduating class, I gradated two persons from the end of the line; the same in every college. My grandparents on Mother's side name started with an O (O'Connol), that would at least place me in the middle of the pack, though I would really like a chance to be up there with the Adams and Andersons.

I like my name, I think it suits me.
There is a cool book I read a few years back and it had names it and then people's perceptions of that name. It is really cool!

ETA: This is the book: http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Name-Survey-Book/dp/0671023853
