    I made Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings the other night for the first time. Turned out great, going to make a few changes to fit our tastes next time. Message me if you would like the recipe. It easily fit into my diary for the day.

    have a venison roast waiting for me when I get home tonight.

    marinate overnight in apple cider -- note, this is to tenderize the tougher venison, which is also a shoulder roast for me today. might not be needed for, say, beef.

    drain cider in the morning, then add:

    * 1 cup water
    * 1 TBS soy sauce
    * 1 TBS Worcestershire sauce
    * minced garlic to taste -- I tend to use a fair amount. tastes great and is good for you
    * pepper to taste

    * slice one onion and sprinkle on top of roast.

    * combine 1 pkg dry onion soup mix with 1 10 oz. can cream of mushroom soup -- I add a splash of water here to make the mix a little easier.

    drop the soup mixture on top of the roast and onions and let it go on low for 6-8 hours.

    note: because of the ingredients, this can have a fair amount of sodium. if you are worried about it, use a low-sodium soup, soy sauce, etc. you can also dice up a few potatoes and drop them in, as they will soak up some of that excess.

    Crock Pot (Bacon) Beef Stew

    2-3 lbs. trimmed lean beef stew meat
    1 package of Real Bacon Pieces, (salad dressing Isle)
    2 large russet potatoes, peeled and diced
    3 cups carrots, peeled and sliced into coins, or mini carrot sticks, whole
    2-3 clery stalks, sliced thin
    2 can low sodium green beans, drained
    5 cans of beef consomm'e
    2 bay leafs
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 tsp thyme
    1 tsp salt, I omit this since the beef consomm'e is enough salt for me.
    1/4 tsp pepper
    1/4 cup or less flour
    1/4 cup oil, I omit this and use non-stick spray- Pam to coat my skillet.

    Directions:
    Mix flour, salt and pepper together. Dredge meat in flour mixture. Fry meat in oil or non-stick spray until golden brown. Add all other ingredients into the crock and set on low for 6-8 hours.

    As a hunter...this so made me smile. I do this all the time.
