Double standard

I've noticed there is a double standard here on mfp. when there is a thread about "skinny" women, or muscular women, there are some people on here that think its ok to bag on them for being skinny or unrealistic or too muscular. then we have threads where there may be some fun poked at "fat" people and man do the haters come out of the closet for that, trashing the people who are poking fun.
i personally don't care who's made fun of, its all pretty funny. i don't see the difference in calling a fat person disgusting, or a muscular person disgusting...
if its all in good fun, why get your panties in a wad... i just don't get it..

Really? I don't think it's funny to make fun of anyone's appearance. And, no, it's not "all in good fun" most of the time.0

I'll ridicule all kinds of people for all kinds of things, but there is no place to call someone out for the shape of their body. Ever.0

What's the double standard? People make fun of fat people. People complain. People make fun of fit, skinny, or muscular people. People complain.
Then people say it's all in fun. But it's not. It can be very hurtful and any one who thinks it's alright to jokingly make fun of another person is not much different than the bullies who teased my best friend for being too skinny or those who teased me for being fat. The end result was the same - a lot of pain that is brought back 25 years later by immature adults who instead of supporting one another feel better about themselves by tearing someone else down.0 -

The result: I will not post progress photos again.
I hope people who things like that don't fully understand how painful something like that is, because that would make them monsters.0 -

i'm over a hundred pounds overweight. i've been made fun of my entire life. the thing i found to shut up the haters, is to laugh with them, then point out their flaw, and have a laugh at that. the best way to kill a troll is to agree with it.
i feel good about myself and that has nothing to do with what anyone says... if i posted pics of my body (that i find disgusting) i would expect at least 1 person to make fun of me. its human nature...
my issue here is that the same people that make fun of a skinny person, feel offended when someone makes fun of a fat person. or vice versa... why get your ire up for either.. why be offended by what someone says. the internet is full of social rejects, why get emotionally invested. why have a double standard..
if you dont make fun of how people look then you're not who i'm talking about... and i think everyone should get a thicker skin, and a sense of humor. life is so much better if you can laugh about it.0 -

People who are morbidly obese, insecure and get hurt by rude comments about their weight are nothing more than people who have a stick up their @ss or panties in a wad? Really? Is that how y'all really live your life, or are you just doing that here because it's the internet? Either way, it's a pathetic way to treat another human being.0

That Batman photo has made my day, along with all the shopping I did, this tops it off though.0
