Double standard

People who are morbidly obese, insecure and get hurt by rude comments about their weight are nothing more than people who have a stick up their @ss or panties in a wad? Really? Is that how y'all really live your life, or are you just doing that here because it's the internet? Either way, it's a pathetic way to treat another human being.
so you're being judgmental about me, even tho you say i shouldn't be judgmental?0 -

I think it's judgemental to judge the judgemental...judged...judge....0 -
i'm over a hundred pounds overweight. i've been made fun of my entire life. the thing i found to shut up the haters, is to laugh with them, then point out their flaw, and have a laugh at that. the best way to kill a troll is to agree with it.
i feel good about myself and that has nothing to do with what anyone says... if i posted pics of my body (that i find disgusting) i would expect at least 1 person to make fun of me. its human nature...
my issue here is that the same people that make fun of a skinny person, feel offended when someone makes fun of a fat person. or vice versa... why get your ire up for either.. why be offended by what someone says. the internet is full of social rejects, why get emotionally invested. why have a double standard..
if you dont make fun of how people look then you're not who i'm talking about... and i think everyone should get a thicker skin, and a sense of humor. life is so much better if you can laugh about it.
The comment has been eating at me all week. I accomplished something I was really really proud of and in a few short words all of that pride evaporated. Just like that.
I wish I could let it go. It just hurt to the core.0 -
Really? I don't think it's funny to make fun of anyone's appearance. And, no, it's not "all in good fun" most of the time.
This. Exactly this...0 -
What's the double standard? People make fun of fat people. People complain. People make fun of fit, skinny, or muscular people. People complain.
Then people say it's all in fun. But it's not. It can be very hurtful and any one who thinks it's alright to jokingly make fun of another person is not much different than the bullies who teased my best friend for being too skinny or those who teased me for being fat. The end result was the same - a lot of pain that is brought back 25 years later by immature adults who instead of supporting one another feel better about themselves by tearing someone else down.
The result: I will not post progress photos again.
I hope people who things like that don't fully understand how painful something like that is, because that would make them monsters.
i like seeing progress photos im sorry to hear that happened to you.0 -

ETA, I'm actually one of those people with thick skin. I have no problem with brushing off ugly comments made by others. However, that doesn't mean that I think that everyone is or should be like me. Just because something wouldn't hurt my feelings, doesn't mean I'd ever say it to someone who it might hurt.0 -
@lauramac426 your pics are hilarious! especially the one with the popcorn and 3d glasses lol :laugh:0

Me too. It would break my heart if someone posted something mean when I was showing how hard I've worked. That's just awful!0 -

I get crap all the time for having WLS surgery..... "taking the easy way out" I just smile and nod my head, and keep on going.
I did what works for ME, not what you think.0 -

I don't think it's panty-wadding...I think it's more like this:

The thing I like about this is that his parent obviously stopped to take this photo before deciding to help him! :laugh:0 -

At the end of the day its ALL double standards, whys making fun of someones appearance any different to joking about their lifestyle or anything else? the reason people are so touchy about appearance on here is because the majority have weight issues myself included, but saying one is worse than the other is just BS to be fair, I mean, just because we might be sensative about our weight or appearance doesnt mean other people wont be offended on anything else
there iis a difference between banter and nastiness, I think its wrong to to be nasty and harsh about someone no matter who it is!!!! especially If you know they find it hurtful.
but if theres a bit of banter and you know the person isnt over sensative then people should lighten up
Ive been mocked about my weight, especially by my workmates a few years back, but I mocked them for been ugly bald mofos, its all tit for tat0
