I would eat it after.
You will avoid a world of cramps (trust me on that one ) and your metabolism is more active after you workout.
Happy Running ,

I would definatley say eat AFTER jogging. I made the mistake of eating before I worked out, and thought I was going to get sick. Also, it seems like when I eat after working out, I don't want much...so that's a plus!!!0

During, to fuel your run while your running0

I eat carbs before running. Generally, protein is a better recovery food. If my work out for the evening is running or spinning, I will have carbs in my breakfast and lunch and I'll have a high protein dinner. For me, the goal is to have my body use the food after work outs efficiently, especially if it's later in the day.0

Oh and generally......don't eat RIGHT before you eat. I eat my meals a couple of hours before a work out.

My dad always carb loads the night before a big run...he runs in the morning. So, not right before, but before, IMO.0

I've always heard "carbs before, protein after."0

I'm getting used to the "carbs before, protein after" guidelines.I make sure to have a gatorade after a workout now-makes me feel much better.0

How about whenever you are hungry for it?0

I read once that your body can better break down carbs AFTER cardio/working out. Is this true?0

I was going to say the same as nniles39
I think that saying means during the day or day before a race kind of thing. Right before a run though would really suck so I'd just say after. It all comes down to burning more in a day than you eat not necessarily what time. =] Now if you had a marathon race in a tomorrow I'd say before lol.0 -
like 2 hours before minimum0
-
i eat something small, a banana or something before to hold me over, then eat my meal after.0
-
I don't like eating ANYTHING before jogging, but that's just me.0
-
I usually eat my dinner at about 6pm and then go running at 8pm0
-
It's not going to make much of any difference in terms of weight loss or body composition so I would let personal preference dictate this. If eating before a run causes you discomfort then eat after.0

this made for an enjoyable visual0 -
Do whatever you want, as long as you still workout! If you get sick from eating before, then don't do that next time. ;-D0

I would be in agony and miserable if I had carbs before running. I make sure I have had a decent lunch not to heavy but atleast lined my stomach then I'm starving for food when Ive finished running lol0

I like a premeal meal sometimes...0 -
Eat whenever suits, but if you're starving beforehand and can't run on a full stomach, have a snack before and your pasta afterwards. I've been known to eat a bit of my pasta, run, heat it back up and eat it!0

I know, right. I can picture some chic running down the road with a plate of pasta and a fork.0 -
oh now I just want pasta and pesto. General rule is it's best not to eat a big meal 2 hours before working out.0

Yes, eat it during! I am sorry, that is just too funny.0 -
Bump! Some good info in here0

I would eat it after. The motion of running tends to massage my intestines in a way that increases "digestive activity." I'll let you guess what I mean by that, but lets suffice it to say that running after dinner would not be pretty (for me).0
-
Depends on how much you are going to be jogging. I assume you will be doing about 3 miles. I'd eat after. If you are running a half marathon, eat before.0
-
Eat a snack before the jog and your meal after the jog. Make sure you have protien with the pasta, your body needs the protien to feed the muscels after the jog.0

Yeah, that's pretty much how I got like this to begin with.........................:bigsmile:0 -
Has anyone ever seen the episode of The Office where Michael eats a full containter of Fettucine Alfredo right before the 5K for Rabies. This thread made me think of it. Lol.
I would eat whenever you prefer. I know that I can't eat before I run, it makes me cramp up, so I will usually run, then eat supper. Or if I do eat, I usually wait at least a good 2 hours afterwards to run.0
