confused with calorie intake

Calorie: tiny little creatures that live in your closet and sew your clothes tighter while your sleeping.... haha I love that so thought I would throw it in!

Anyhow my question is this, so for a few days I was doing the 1200/day then I checked what my BMI(i think) is and it said I should be eating more cals/day so I did and then bam i gained 2 pounds back just in one day??

I am super confused with all of this?

Please help!

1200 calories is very low amount of food, you are more likely to be in starvation mode, which means you wont be losing weight from fat loss, but from muscle loss.

I have been doing the same (eating 1200 a day) and I was warned I needed to be eating considerably more... as long as you keep up the exercise weight loss will happen.

Good luck - I am now eating 1700 calories a day - sounds a lot but it isn't if you are burning off 300 every day..

Your gain is in water and nutrients.

I did the same thing, but felt SO MUCH BETTER after upping it to 1400 and sometimes 1600. I gained, but then started losing again and this time, I wasn't losing muscle. I try to NET between 1000 and 1300 cals. Doing this the healthy was is SO IMPORTANT when it comes to losing the fat for the long term.
  • maybe I should not weigh myself everyday.... like once a week like WW does?

Do NOT weigh yourself every day! Once a week is a great marker. Your body has tiny fluctuations all the time, and seeing a pound gained here and a pound lost there can be needlessly stressful.

Also, best to weigh yourself at the same time of day when you step on the scale weekly.
  • Thank you all! Okay so eat all my calories and even the ones back from working out and do not weigh but once a week! I am going to get this done! ;)
