It really makes me mad when..

I see someone who lost a whole bunch of weight, and they pick on someone who's overweight later on..

I knew a girl who weighted 340lbs in Freshman year of high school. She used to be a great friend of mine, actually. Since we graduated already, we decided to catch up. I also weight a lot in freshman but I had lost weight too. So we wanted to see how different each other was. She commented on how great I look, especially for recently starting my journey. When I saw her I was speechless..
Now.. she weighs 180. Obviously a looker to the guys.. and she's completely forgotten who she was. She picked on 6 overweight kids in the mall, and bought a pie for one and threw it in a kids face who was pudgy. I was outraged. Obviously someone had to put her back in line.. so I stepped in.

I started going on and on about how big she used to be, what size shirt she used to wear, how stores never had her size in clothes, and how she could barely do gym class without quitting 5 minutes in..and then I asked what gave her a right to insult these innocent people just because of their weight.. she replied "they're gross. I hit the changing point. They need to stop eating. For **** sake, they can hide food in their fat rolls!" and I replied "So could you. You couldn't even go 5 minuets without thinking of your next meal! You even asked teachers if they had a bag of chips or something like that in class..AFTER LUNCH!" and she snared back, saying she's a different person.. and I replied 'Yes.. yes you are different..except you're not a person. You're a monster. You were better when you were overweight, at least you didn't pick on anyone. You have no right to pick on these people.. maybe when you lost all that weight you lost half your mind along with it. Go and be a *kitten* with your friends, the mall has had enough of you." I said more words than that, but it was enough to make her cry and run out of the building.

I just felt so disgusted when this happened.. especially to those poor innocent people!

What makes you mad? :)

Ugh, what a c---. I notice myself watch people eating & thinking how gross it it, & then I feel bad about it. I can't even imagine throwing a pie in a kids face!

Contrarian - Thanks.. I hope it made up with what she did. :/

Krush: I agree. except I'd call her a b----y a-s c---. Granted, I get disgusted if I see someone eat McDonalds, but I'm not going to purposely make someone feel like they're worthless sh-ts that need to be treated like garbage.

Ouch. Clearly your friend has figured out how to lose some weight, but does not have any empathy or respect for other people (particularly kids) whatsoever - clearly she needs to do this shi!t to make herself feel good about herself - the weight came off, but sounds like she stlll has a lot of issues.

Clearly we all have issues (I don't just mean people on a fatloss or fitness site), but the way she is 'acting out' is very disturbing. Kind of like previously Fat Girl comes back as Mean Girl, targeting the chubby kids.

Just my two cents: it's good you called her out on it - but it's probably more constructive to point out that she's simply being hateful towards others or fat-ist. There's no point in reminding her that she used to be there b/c she is clearly acting out against when someone in the past treated her badly b/c she used to be fat. It's a sad cycle...

But yes, thanks for standing up for those chubby kids.:flowerforyou:

I'm not disgusted by what you think I'm disgusted at, I'm just disgusted because of what they make their meat out of. Since I read the article about how they put parts of chicken in like guts, eyeballs, etc.. basically the whole chicken and crush the whole thing, kinda irritated my stomach.

I get very angry when I hear or see kids making fun of other kids because of the clothing they are wearing. It seems as though there is just so much emphasis put on LOOKING GOOD, that you have to have the RIGHT BRAND on your clothing or you are not cool. Just because everyone can't afford American Eagle, Hollister, Abercombi and F, and so on does not make them any less of a person. My mom raised three girls on her own for many years, so we wore hand me downs and plain pocket jeans. i found nothing wrong with my clothes and was happy just to have them. What is wrong with people these days? They are spoiled rotten is my response to that.

Thanks for your input, I'll admit, I probably didn't react responsibly to her.. but I just couldn't stand at the time. If I would have thought about it more clearly, I probably would have used more choice words instead of bringing up more of her past than I have.

That also irritates me.. I remember getting picked on in high school because I shopped from goodwill, or generic brands. I'm sorry.. but you got another thing coming if you expect me to spend $70 on a shirt when I can get a better shirt for $5 back in the day.. But I'm glad you found nothing wrong with what you were wearing.. I don't think what you wore was bad at all. Shame on them for picking on you guys!

An *kitten* is an *kitten* no matter what weight they are, I'm sure she was an *kitten* growing up but instead of being a bully she just sat there and talked about people who she viewed as "being better than her" behind their back. You see it all the time, shouting insulting things to a person is a terrible thing and it goes both ways. Yelling fat insults is just as terrible a thing as pointing at someone and saying "you need to eat a damn cheese burger." It seems to me that your experience has granted you great empathy along with being sympathitic, but if you look back I'm sure you'll see that she was a mean girl back then too.

I work at a convenience store and I can't tell you the amount of times I want to step in and tell people "please don't buy that!" I feel bad that as I get healthier I almost get disgusted by what some of the people will buy. I feel even worse for the overweight children. :frown:

Your are right to say she had no right to say those things because she had been fat before, but really, even if she had been skinny all her life, she had no right to say those things. That was just mean.

maybe when the curtains closed.. but whenever I saw her back then, she seemed like America's sweetheart. Always willing to help someone whenever they had a chance.. guess when her weight loss happened, her personality emerged. :/

Kids are kids whether they ar fat thin or otherwise. Treating anyone badly is wrong. I was hoping your comment was sarcastic but do you actually think you were being nice saying that?

Sounds like she is taking her anger of how she was out on other kids and not accepting that it happened and moving on. It's great that she is healthier but maybe she should see someone about the pain she is still going through because she was picked on. Kids can be really cruel but when adults haven't grown up and grown past things they can be even worse.
I hope your actions make her think about what she is doing the next time but I doubt it…

A contrarian is a person who takes up a position opposed to that of the majority, no matter how unpopular. I'm not actually a Contrarian. It's kind of an ironical username for me.
