Hello everyone!! I am super excited for this challenge. On the weekends I have usually do not over indulge. My husband and I make it a point to eat at home before we go any place on the weekends. If I don't then I will want to stop and eat at EVERY fast food place that we pass! It has really helped settle my cravings along with drinking a lot of water. Recently one of my fitness goals has been to burn 3500 calories a week. This past week was my 3rd in a row that I have accomplished it  ! I always feel that I will be less likely to "cheat" if I think about how much I have worked out and to throw it all away in one meal is not a good feeling. But don't get me wrong....I like to have a nice greasy burger and fries....on occassion! I hope everyone has a great week

    good morning all,
wow, we are all on the same page with the weekends. I made it through my first weekend without fastfood or a cheat meal..... I also walked/jogged 20 miles last week, so I am hoping to do it again this week. although with all of that said,

    I lost nothing. :explode: :grumble: :angry: :frown: :cry: {it has been 10weeks with only a 3lb loss.}

I am going to give something drastic a try. my personal trainer read a new article and I am going try it for this week and see if it works. I'm going to eat only 700 cals today, and no excersice cals either' then do my regular 1200 & exercise on Tues. and try to alternate that for 1 week. she says it might shock my system into letting go, but not enough to put me into "starvation mode" although something tells my I'll be feeling like I'm starving. I will try to do this experiment and see how it works. I'll try to let you all know how it goes.

Hi everyone!! It is a beautiful morning around here (southern nj) and I just got back from a vendor appointment so I was super happy (I won this Videography package, worth $1800!!!) But then I remembered that when I got on the scale this morning I was horrified!!! I GAINED 3 pounds since this past Wednesday???? I don't understand, I have been really dieting since April, and losing slowly but steady, but still not fast enough, the wedding is in like 5 months. So this past week, since I found this site, I really began ramping up my exercise routine, and even eating better because now I was keeping serious track of everything. I didn't go overboard this weekend and I have eaten plenty of calories. So how did I gain 3 pounds???

Ok, so I got on the scale again this morning, and now it is back down those 3 plus 2, I just don't get it...

I'm sooo frustrated..... I haven't lost anything in what seems like forever!! So, last night I took my measurements for the first time in a month and they didn't go down either.. in fact some of them went up a tiny bit, but that could just be that I measured in a different place.... I'm so frustrated... I go to the gym everyday and bust my butt and NOTHING!!

Whenever I read on this site about someone reaching a standstill, the advice usually given is to "confuse" or "shock" your calories (I think that is what they keep calling it) basically to switch up your calories. Like 1 day don't exercise and only eat like 1000 calories, then the next day exercise and eat ALL of those calories and then a little more (no one ever says to go up more then between 50 or 100)
It is definitely something I am considering for when I reach my standstill.
I hope I got this method correct, if anyone else knows any better, please chime in

Thanks!! I am definitely going to have to try something drastic b/c what I'm doing is not working anymore..... I thought that I would hit a plateau until I got closer to my goal weight.... I still have a longggg way to go!! I have gotten good at maintaining though.. lol.

    Morning ladies,

Well I had a very good first day, stayed within my target and really wasn't hungry, got all my water in :drinker: but didn't exercise. Today is my last 'proper' day at work until July 22, I am a school secretary and so it should get easier to exercise now and stay on track.

    Have a good day

okiegal - i can relate! I also work in a school (college) and i notice how in the spring semester (the busiest one) my waistline just goes phhhbt! Hopefully I'll be at my goal weight next year and will be better able to maintain.

Hope you have a good summer break!

morning all. :flowerforyou: I got up early and ate a good b-fast... I think that is key for me... becuase I foten skip it when I am trying to drop the lbs... and then i feel empty all day and then I usually go over-board at some point... anyways, I made a wicked yummy whole wheat pizza last night and leftovers are lunch today YUM. tonight I am going to get my butt back to the gym... I had been so busy with school / work for the past few weeks that I was MIA at the gym... so today my basic goal is to drink lots of water and get to the gym...

    Hello Ladies!!!

My heart rate monitor came in the mail today!!!! Never though I'd be so excited over something like that, but I think it's just the motivation I need to really work out this week and see how many calories I'm REALLY burning instead of estimating!

My goal is to break a sweat every day this week!

    Good Morning

I'm having some tough emotional stuff going on right now but I am determined to not let this ruin my efforts. I considered dropping the challenge and giving up (like I would've done in the past!) but instead I'm posting here I guess to reaffirm to myself that I am changing that pattern this time. No more letting emotions control my health! I will succeed in being the healthy person that I know has always been inside of me!

Okay :embarassed: sorry, I just needed to get that out. I actually feel a little better now..

    My goals this week are:

    1) to get moving no matter how I'm feeling because I know I will feel better if I do!

    2) to get in as much water as I can drink (been struggling with this one for some reason for the last week)

    3) to not reach for unhealthy food choices when my emotions grab me

I hope that everyone is having a great week so far! :flowerforyou:

Ok, day 1 of the " fast" completed:
I had planned on 700 cal yesterday, but I ate 800, that is ok though. that was the hardest thing ever . and sleeeping at night really was hard. I dreamt of eating, and of eggs and toast all night , and kept waking up throughout the night. I ate throughout the day so it wasn't like I was physically starving, stomach grumbling, but I never felt like there wasn't much food in my tummy. slimfqast shake, fresh veges, watermellon, 2 times I had a small amount of meat, but that was basically it. and tons of water.

so fist thing this moring 6;am, I got the oldest off to school and had a peice of toast. then I went back to bed and got some nice sleep until the little one woke me up at 9am. "yay... she let me sleep in " First thing we did was make eggs and toast and milk for breakfast. I am amazed at how full I feel. but I feel better. I did step on the scale before eating and , low and behold. it said 156, a 1 pound loss. but I will only count that as a loss if it holds on for 3 days in a row. I am going to eat my normal 1200 cals today, and then try for the 700 cal. again tomorrow. and see fi my weight can start going down and keep going.

I walked/run 4 miles yesterdday, and of that time 2miles I ran without stopping. I have to do it 2 more times this week to fullfill my goal. yay....I am happy to see myself really putting myself out ther and working hard. I haven't felt like this in 5 yrs.
