Are you one?
I was listening to a radio show where the host read a letter from a lady who could not stop talking. Even when she noticed people's eyes starting to glaze or looking for a escape, she just couldn't shut her mouth.
She also acknowledged that when someone else was talking, she was busy thinking about what she was going to say next and not really listening to the other person. :noway:
I just found it really interesting (because I work with a couple) and was wondering if people would fess up to being overly chatty.

I can be at times, but am aware of it and do my damnedest to stop when I catch myself thinking what I have to say is more interesting lol, my Husband is DEFINITELY guilty of this lol0

My MIL is one. I take a page from my father and tune her out. She never says anything important anyway.0

I am definitely one and I have the habit of picking the most inopportune times. For instance I'll strike up a conversation as my boyfriend is walking out the door and then he's standing in the door way like "are you done, it's cold". Lol.0

my mother is lol and its never anything nice tht comes out >.>0

no way. that is not me at all. but that does remind me of this one time where I was talking to a co-worker about the latest episode of Dr. Who, you know the one where he uses time travel to save the universe, and we ended up on a long conversion about netflix and whether it was the future of steaming or going to go the way of the beta-max, which by the way was the better product, with its clearer picture and longer taping time. It is always annoying when a better product loses out to a cheaper product and the rest of it suffer for it. on top of that the bata-max and vcr both were American technology that got usurped by folks making it cheaper products .... but to make a long story short, no I am not a chatty charlies.0

depends. i can be the chattiest person in the room or i can be the silent guy...just depends on my mood.0

I can carry on a conversation with a brick wall...0

Not at all. Only around my family am I the person who won't stfu.0
-
Definitely not. In fact, I am more likely to make someone uncomfortable because I don't say anthing at all.
I am horrible at small talk but I figure if I don't have something to say then I won't say anything.0 -
I have been. I am learning to pay more attention and keep my conversations a dialogue rather than a monologue. I bet ADHD or mania have a lot to do with stream-of-consciousness running at the mouth with no concern for punctuation or run-on sentences.
I once timed a colleague who could monologue for ever - 13 minutes of continuous talking before I got the word "Really?" in.0 -
I can be a little chatty if I am excited about what I am talking about, but I have to admit I am absolutely the person who is thinking about what I want to say next while someone else is talking.0
-
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.0

So is mine :noway:0 -
Having been so heavy for so long I was real self concious so most of the time I am silent, to the point most of my exercise is solo ie walking jogging for hours with just my music A little better now but still quiet I dont friend much or respond alot yet0
-
I totally am!!!!
And I'm worse than just too chatty, I'll cut you off while you're talking...It's awful and I'm always trying to catch myself and shut up & be a better listener.
I have a huge extended family. I can remember at every family function there would be a million conversations going on at once and you could pop in and out of them as you pleased. And, if you had something to say, you just had to shout it out...noone was going to stop and wait for you to say something. It was a complete shock meeting my husband and his family. They would actually finish their sentence and let you have a turn. I was instantly speechless because I felt all eyes on me like I was giving a speech!
I am trying to break the habit and at the very least teach my boys better : )0 -
I am a Chatty Cathy.. and I interupt others when they are talking because I am afraid I will forget what I want to say (Horrible Memory). I blurt things out without thinking and sometimes what I say is hurtful. People say I am honest/blunt but really I am just not able to control my mouth. As I have gotten older I have much more control and I am aware of my weakness and how rude I can be.... At work I try to not talk at all for fear of what might slip out of my mouth. I would say that I am liked by most people and people come to my office to chat (I don't look for people to talk)...but I have to be careful and SHARE in the conversation and not take over. Sometime I have too many opinions. I didn't realize until I was older that not everyone cares about what my opinion is. :-) Have a wonderful day.0

Are we related?
My husband never spoke at my family functions and I asked him "Why don't you ever talk at my moms?" He said ..."YOUR FAMILY NEVER SHUTS UP FOR ME TO TALK".
He says my family interupts people when they are talking, they never shut up, its loud and everyone is yakin' about something. I just learned to JUMP IN and SHOUT. I'm a very boisterous person.0 -

We must be related!!! I'm so happy to "meet" someone that knows just what I mean. The thing is it feels strange when you step outside your family and realize the crazy way you communicate is not the norm. I know that people think I'm rude, but it's hard to undo what's been engrained in you since childrhood :indifferent:
And, your husband sounds just like mine!0 -

You sure 'bout that?0 -
I can be at times... but only if I have had a lot of caffeine or am tired or something lol Normally people tell me I am quiet :blushing:
Plus it depends on how well I know the person I am talking to. I am quiet and reserved until I know someone better (this has made people think I am stuck up )
But I work with one too....:explode: and very often get to hear stories over and over.... :noway:0 -
My husbands father is like that. He will talk on and on, and when he finds no one paying attention to him anymore, he will get up and leave. He has no interest in what anyone else has to say. He is also very opinionated, and tries to tell people they need to get involved in hobbies that HE is involved in. Just an obnoxious person altogether.
Edited to add that he also has an aunt that is chatty. So bad that when she use to call, they'd put the phone down, walk away for 20 minutes or so, and come back. She didn't even realize they were gone!! Cracked me up when I heard that!!0 -
If I am unfamiliar with a group, I tend to be reserved.
However, when I am comfortable with whomever I am with, I tend to be chatty.
Lol, and if I have a few drinks, I never shut up!!!!
However, that being said, I don't tend to interrupt people, just talk alot, lol.0 -

I bet you're sweet, :blushing: like me.
I have a co-worker who I swear starts most conversations in the middle like I should know what random snippets of thought he was just thinking. :noway:
I usually take a bathroom break when he comes into the office. :laugh:0 -
Some people just love to hear themselves yak. LOL Bad listeners.0
