Workout Efficiency – Which works?! (repost after crash)

Hi everyone,
First, some history:
I started MFP in January, and quickly worked myself to burn over 1200 calories a day, and I was limiting my intake to 1300. I lost 40 pounds in three months. I realized I was starving myself, and adjusted my intake to the recommended 15-1600 using the MFP wizard, and factoring in the kick-*kitten* workouts.
Now, when I do a KA workout, I have trouble eating the calories back.
I just started to use a heart monitor, and learned to throttle my heart rate within the fat-burning and aerobic zones. This doesn’t FEEL like a workout. I don’t really sweat, and I don’t feel like I worked.
I’ve tried the HIIT workouts, and like them, but my heart rate stays in my max/power zone, and even goes over my limit.
I’ve read the anaerobic zone is for building muscle, and you should do 80% of your workout in the lower zones (FB & aerobic).
My main goal is to continue losing weight. I’ve ordered the New Rules for Lifting for Life (the men’s guide) and it hits the stores on the 24th. With this in hand, I will begin lifting & HIIT, then running endurance on every other day.
Ok! Here are my questions:
Which types of workouts are most effective for you?
What would you recommend for me?
Am I even doing this right?
Also, if any of you are having similar successes and/or struggles, feel free to send a FR. I always want support, and give quite a bit too.
