WEEK 6 CHALLENGE
Re-assesment: have a look back over the past couple of weeks, is the plan you started with still working now? have you reassed it? or do you need to?
Nutrition: Do you get your fibre? women are supposed to consume 30-35g of fibre a day, most only get around 10g. add the fibre column to you food diary and look at what you consume
good luck guys!
any new people are welcome to join too!

Looking back at my plans (lol plural) the best for me has always been when im living away from home at uni - i always have the best weight loss then.
but im back home now for 15weeks so i need to reassess my plan and suit it to home life
as for the fibre - i have no idea how much i consume but i know its not a lot, so i need to try and up that, will add a banana to breakfast as a start0 -
Weigh in for me today and I lost FIVE pounds :noway: I'm figuring that I probably didn't actually gain a pound last week but was retaining fluid as it was my time of the month, but still!!! It has taken my pounds to go from 10 to 5!! I am thinking I may lower my final goal to 11st4 as I know that's what the gp has as my ideal weight based on height and build, but that still only leaves me 8 lbs to go - I'm getting so close!!! :drinker:
My plan is clearly working for me - shockingly it is reducing food intake and upping exercise - this last week I also took up running which I will obviously be keeping up with!! Today's plan:
B - porridge
L - zero point soup, 2 slices bread, SF jelly
D - lamb hotpot, muller light yogurt
Thanks for all the support, let's keep it up!! :flowerforyou:0 -

Wow, that's really great shoppie    It's looking like a good week for me too - weigh in is weds so fingers crossed!
What is zero point soup? I notice you have it often.0 -
Its a weight watchers recipe - 2 courgettes, 3 carrots, one onion, clove of garlic, tin of tomatoes and a chicken stock cube but with less water. Add mixed herbs and worcester sauce to taste. It has naff all calories and fat, lots of fibre, helps the 5 a day lots and is very filling :drinker: You can add other zero point foods from weight watchers - eg I sometimes add cabbage or peppers. There are also recipes for mexican zero point soup which I have too, and another one I haven't tried (yet):

Evening everyone,
I'd started out my weekend with good intentions but that kinda went down the plughole! I went to the cinema on Friday night and had ice cream AND some Haribos - there is no healthy cinema snack!
I got up on Saturday and did some pilates, then I went to Sainsbury's and bought lots of salady stuff (which is still unopened in my fridge) and had homemade spaghetti bolognese for dinner. That with garlic bread came in at about 500 cals which I thought was quite good for me. I then went out with my friends...had quite a lot of vodka...stayed at my friend's all day Sunday because I was very hungover (I was even sick, yuck!) and had a Papa John's pizza and Irn Bru - not good at all!!
It's Britain's Next Top Model tonight though so that means I go on my bike for about an hour, so I can make up for all the rubbish.
Tell me about it with the weather, I was freezing walking home from work!

Hiya
I weighed myself this morning and i'd lost a whole POUND lol Which I was quite shocked with considering my naughty weekend of beer, i had a HOT DOG! crisps, pasty....oh dear it was terriblevery disappointed in myself. Its the weekend! Im so rubbish come Saturday
But today has been okay, tried hard, espesh after finding out I had lost a pound so it makes me want to loose more! planned out my breakfast and lunch for tomorrow:
Muesli & semi skimmed milk
salad - watercress, rocket, red pepper, tomato
fruit - banana, orange, grapes
(541 cals in total)
BUT I am going out for dinner...so GOD knows what I will have
I have added fiber to my food diary and it says that my total daily goal is only 14...? Is that correct??? My day plan already has 11....0 -

Do you just blend this all together or have it chunky?? I have never made home made soup before...I wouldnt know where to start!0 -
Hello all, I found you atlast
Hope you are all enjoying the challenges you have set for yourself.
I made some lovely mint pea soup yesterday and put the rest in freezer for next week. I didn't know how to log the calories so I just put down homemade soup. I was within my calories yesterday anyway so it didn't really matter if I was a bit over.
today I have done 2 hours of housework and 1 hour of gym.
B - crunchie nut cornflakes
L - Sci Mx whey protein
S - Banana
Having steamed salmon, brocolli and carrots for dinner and a half a box of strawberries for dessert.
Going to pop to the shop for a little something extra, I fancy ice-cream but will go for the yoghurt version instead, nice with strawberries.
Have a wonderful evening :drinker: (don't forget your water girls) :drinker:

add tsp. root ginger
stir and blend

Mint pea soup recipe:
chop 1 onion, 1 large potato into chunks
melt knob of butter in pan, stir in veg
add a pint of chicken stock and simmer for 10 min.
add 100 gr. of peas and simmer for a further 6 min.
add a handful of fresh mint leaves (or a tbsp of dry mint)
stir and blend
voila, soup ready
I usually have one bowl on the day I make it and freeze the rest for next time I fancy soup.
Hope you enjoy these recipes0 -
Yum, both soup recipes sound delicious! I love soup but I've never made my own because I don't have a blender, and I prefer my soup smooth to chunky. Whenever I have soup though I like it with lots of bread! I'm getting better at resisting though.
I was proud of myself at lunch today, I'd made a sandwich last night to take with me to work. It had corn beef, spinach, cucumber, peppers and spring onions on it, then I had an apple! This will never last...

Christy - I just shove the whole lot in a large pan on the hob, bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and cook for around 20/30 mins depending on how mushy or not you like the veg, then yes I shove it in the blender. Glitterygirl - if you want smooth soup you could always buy a hand blender, I use that for my baby and it was literally about £10 in Robert Dyas
I have found today hard work for some reason, but not caved. Today:
B - banana, apple
L - jacket potato, beans, small portion cheese, small fruit salad
D - home made low fat sweet and sour chicken with rice, 2 caramel giant snack a jacks for pud, looking forward to those is helping me stay on track!
Have also walked for an hour with the single buggy into town and back, so a couple of hundred cals under the net 1200 cal aim.0 -
I love my handblender but it is on its last legs, I have seen a nice one here http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_?url=search-alias=kitchen&field-keywords=handblender
I use it for chopping, blending soups, making smoothies etc.
btw, I was going to have that delicious salmon, brocolli and carrots with sweet potato but plans changed (thanks to my darling son lol) so will have that tomorrow.0 -
Cheers Shoppie - Will have to get some of that made for my dinners
Sounds DE LISH...
And thanks for those recipes Helen, they look lovely, gonna print them off....I LOVE butternut squash soup
My day was okay.....Stuck to my breakfast and lunch and had 5 bean chilli for dinner - no rice. BUT I was given some shortbread at work as a gift so of course I HAD to have a couple of piecesAlthough after its been included in my diary it hasn't made me go over in cals...
Has everyone else had a good day?? I need to exercise and get on with the water drinking! I am only managing about 1 glass a day at the minuteBut plenty of tea which is terrible!! Anyone else managing 8???

drinking water was difficult for me too but then I gave up smoking, quit the sugar in tea and then finally switched to green/white/herbal/fruit teas and then water just followed suit. It takes a week to change the tastebuds to suit you. Today I had 10 glasses of water and 3 teas.
oooh I love shortbread yum I was naughty tonight too, I had a strawberry cornetto it was lushI bought two boxes at the co-op and now I have to find the will power to say no, they are for my son :grumble: :ohwell:
 my bed is calling, goodnight :flowerforyou:0 -
I drink decaff tea instead of water, I probably have 4 or 5 in a day, plus a few glasses of water. I probably do make 8 most days but really should be drinking even more than that because of the breastfeeding :noway:
Helen - food for the kids is a nightmare, I have loads of junk in at the mo as its my elder son's 3rd birthday on Sat. Have managed not to cave so far though - yay!!
Me today (well, the plan ;-) )
B - porridge
L - tuna with lime dressing and salad
D - spag bol, sugar free jelly
Also hoping to do a 3.5 mile run.0 -
Hiya Shoppie, I drink decaff tea aswell, I love twinnings herbal teas, at the moment I am hooked on chamomile, honey and vanilla, it smells sweet and delicious.
My son is cooking at school today, he is making chilli con carne so will freeze most of it for next week as we have steamed salmon and veg for tonight.
Kids can be a nightmare, how old are they shoppie? My son is 12 and because he is into keeping fit (rugby + football) and he goes to the gym with me a few times a week for a good cardio work out he loves eating healthy food. I get him involved in the kitchen teaching him how to make easy healthy meals (grilling, steaming and poaching). Going to teach him how to make a healthy home made pizza next week, that will be interestingSuch a shame he doesn't share my love for home made soups, I love my soup and usually have some kind on the go each week.
Have a great run
:drinker: :drinker: :drinker:
P.S. If it doesn't come from the ground or have a mother or father DONT EAT IT!( l love that)

Hello everyone!! I've returned from my holidays!! Luckily Finnish food was quite healthy so I don't think I've put on too much weight...but then again I left my scales at uni so I won't know for a while! This week will be hectic, working full time on crazy shifts but I'm at home so I have the exercise bike to try!
Hope everyone has been doing well, fill me in on everything I've missed!! :flowerforyou:0 -
