Ladies! HAIR!

Not THAT kind of hair. But on your head...how do you wear it when you're working out? I generally have mine up in a ponytail with my bangs pulled back, but my hair has gotten REALLY long so when I'm really getting after it, it's stuck to my back/neck and it's really irritating. Plus, since it's gotten so long (and it's super thick) it's really heavy, and I find that I get a bit of a headache from the ponytail.

When I run races I have a superstition of putting my hair in 2 french braids (like a 6 year old) but it really keeps it out of my face. Although, again, I sometimes get a little bit of a headache because of the tension of pulling back so much heavy hair. What do y'all do? Any ladies run with your hair down? I've seen a couple women in races do this (wide cloth headband with the rest of their hair down) and I though it would be really hot and annoying, but I'm wondering if it's actually more comfortable. Thoughts?

When I roller derby train I wear it down under my helmet and when I train at the gym I wear it down.
It’s too heavy to pull up unless it’s covered in spray – which I can’t be bothered for at the gym.

I have long thick hair and usually tie it in a super tight bun with a headband when I'm on the treadmill.

    ^^This

It keeps my hair from bouncing and swinging around. It's just too heavy to handle sometimes. But I've found that a tight bun keeps it off my neck and shoulders (way too hot), which drives me nuts when I'm working out.

I have really thick and heavy hair too. If I wear it in a high ponytail for longer than an hour I will get major headache.

The side braid is my signature hairstyle while working out. If I'm doing a lot of cardio, I'll usually wear a headband too, I like the ones from lululemon because they're just the right width and have a silicon strip in the back so they don't budge.

    Soooo...
    I recommend this style because;

    A) Won't give you headache
    B) Still cute, but a bit more sophisticated than two braids on either side of your head
    C) Once you get it down, it's super quick and easy (unlike French braids)

I pull mine up into a high messy bun and then I put one of thos elastic bands around my head to keep my short bands up and spray it. I have pretty intense workouts and it stays up. Plus it is easy!

It NEEDS to be outta my face. So the bangs are back, tight pony tail, whatever I need to do!

I have very long, very thick hair. I hate running with a ponytail or my hair down whatsoever b/c it sticks to my back or my face when I get sweaty or even gets stuck under your arms and pulls. I used to put it in a tight bun but sometimes it would fall out or get loose and bounce and drive me nuts. I have just recently started putting it in one nice long braid and I LOVE it. I don't make it too tight that it will give me a headache. My friend did my hair in a french braid for a half marathon and it gave me a headache. This is just a simple braide starting at the base of your skull going down. Comfortable hangs and doesn't swing or stick!

I french braid tow braids in my hair sometimes or french braid my bangs on the side back into a messy bun as well.

I've tried the regular braid, not french, and since my hair is layered it doesn't work :( it won't stay in a regular braid, so french ones are my only option (I can do them really easily and fast on myself). Maybe I'll try just one french braid, but a little looser for my work out today to see how it goes. I've got a 10-mile race on Sunday and I just wanna be comfortable!

Pulling all my hair up in a bun gives me SUCH a bad headache :( I have a couple Lulu headbands that I wear from time to time, so I'll do one of those with the braid...we'll see!

I usually wear a hat when I run...with the ponytail out of the hole in the back. And my hair touches the back of my neck too when I start sweating...so I'll braid it. I can't wear those headband thingys...either my head is too small or shaped funny because no more than 2 minutes of wearing it, it's slipping back and slides off. I've tried so many....

Other than a hat....a bun or a doubled up ponytail.

I have long hair too, but it's not as thick as it used to be before kids. I'll usually part the front section as normal and then dutch braid that front section to make sure nothing will fall out and touch my face, and then pull it all back into a messy bun (the higher the better I've found). At home I'll wear a grippy headband because it helps keep my glasses on :)

I put it in a pony tail, then wrap the tail part around and around to create a bun, and use another band to secure it.

I bobby pin my bangs up. they're side bangs but they've gotten a little out of control...i need a hair cut.

my hair is about two inches past the bottom of my bra, and thick, so i like to keep it out of the way. i hate hair sticking to my sweat.

I also have an issue with headbands...the back of my head is flat!! :embarassed:

I throw it up in a ponytail, but keep the ends tucked in... So like a bun, but not really. It always falls out into an actual ponytail once I get going anyway. Bobby pin for the bangs and the bottom strands because I can't stand feeling the hair on my neck when I'm running.

I have really really long and thick hair, I normally have it in a pony tail and then also in a clip so that it is off my neck and i wear a headband or bobbie pins to keep it out of my face, the good thing about both is that if i have to use a machine that hurts with the clip I can just pull it out!!

I put my hair up in a bun with tons of bobbypins. Works for me! It's not cute, but it works.

Headbands just fall off, even the sticky ones. So I clip or do a small pony tail to pull my bangs back then do a high pony tail but only pull it half way through the last time to keep if off my neck, kinda like a messy bun.
    Stays though BodyStep and running.
