I tried some of this - how could you NOT hope it would be a delicious and low-cal substitute? - but I found I really didn't like it. I got the coffee flavor, and I think it's pretty obvious taste and texture wise that it's a diet food. I'd much rather have a tiny bite of something like So Delicious's dairy free coconut based ice creams, or make my own frozen yogurt with 0% Greek yogurt!

Personally, I found Arctic Zero completely lacking in taste, texture, satisfaction factor, everything. I am still looking for a substitute for ice cream, but until I find something good I will just have an ice cream day every once in a while.

have you tried skinny cow? it's delicious!

    2nd this !! i eat it :)

    also Fro YO

braums has a carbwatch ice cream sold at your local braums store in different flavors and also dryers, beyers? ?? has low carb ice cream bars and stuff in the tub. Blue bunny sells sugar free kind in different flavors. I prefer cones. Im not a big fan of ice cream even though I am a sugar addict. very odd. Regular ice cream is a sugar/dairy devil. Dairy makes me bloat like a whale.

Another great one is mixing some Nutella (for those of you who like it) with bananas. Zap it til the mix is smooth in a blender, freeze it and you have delicious AND low calorie ice cream! :drinker:

If you want the actual recipe, just let me know.

    Share the recipe please!!! :blushing:

I love ice cream and have a hard time finding good tasting substitues but something I will make if I'm craving a treat, something similar to an above post, one lg banana, 1 or 2 T of crunchy PB, 1 scoop of chocolate or vanilla protein powder if you want, blend and freeze, sometimes I'll mix in dark choc chips or a spoonful of nutella, it's not ice cream but it sometimes does the trick!!

False. There is no ice cream replacement.

    Gelato is gelato

    Frozen yogurt is frozen yogurt

    Sorbet is sorbet.

Peel and freeze bananas. Run them through a juicer with a good motor or through a Yonana's machine. The browner (more rip) the bananas are, the better. Can also add other fruits in the same method (berries, mangos, peaches, etc). That's been my ice cream substitute for years.

Wow sounds good, I am pretty loyal to Skinny Cow brands though. That stuff is amazing. But I will try this other out.

I don't mind the skinny cow stuff, actually, and ben & jerry make some really good frozen yogurt. but why, might I ask, if you want ice cream .... don't you just eat ice cream? lactose problems? because it really isn't very high cal. I can eat a cup of the stuff for 240 calories, which is maybe 20 minutes in the gym.

Try this: Peel two bananas, cut them in half and stick them in the freezer until they are just hard (usually about 2 hours) Then toss them in a food processor until they are creamy. SOOO GOOD!

I've heard of this, but haven't tried it. A couple people that did, said it wasn't very good. Thanks, but I think I'll just stick to my ice cream.
