How do you describe your body type?

There's a pretty heated discussion going on about what "curvy" means on another thread. How do you describe your body type?

I could be called "curvy" based on my measurements. I'm an hourglass, but a very full hourglass, so I much prefer the terms zaftig or roundy.

ETA: I hate "plus size" and "thick."

I haven't seen this other thread, but I have been referred to as curvy quite alot. I've got big boobs, big hips and small waist, I tend not to personnaly describe my body type, like I can't think of a situation where I would have to do that, I'd probably just say "girl" or something.

I have an hourglass figure, though it's slightly pear shaped. There's about 2 inches difference between my hips and bust. there's 10 inches btwn my hips and my waist.

Athletic. I've got pretty broad shoulders, narrow hips, and muscular thighs and arms. I actually had a doctor ask me once if I was a swimmer, because his niece was, and she had shoulders like mine.

My body type gets the job done.

I'm an hourglass shape and I wouldn't want any other shape. I love my curves, very proud of them. I have 'thick' thighs, I find nothing wrong with being "thick" - i think its nice....thats just my opinion :D

I like the descriptions that have been around for decades. Apple, Pear, and Hour Glass. Almost anyone fits in one of the categories. To describe a woman as 'thick" is offensive. To me, it just sounds bad.. maybe because thick can also be used to describe someone who is mentally challenged.

Edit: Oh, I'm an apple..... right now.

Reading the other thread gave me a headache :grumble: , I couldn't even go pass the second page  ...But I "use" to describe my body type as hourglass but yea I don't think so anymore..I think since I have gained weight, I have become more of a pear shaped.

I have a swimmer's body type: broad shoulders, narrow hips and I was not blessed as much as I would have liked to as far as breast size.... but I've stopped comparing myself to the curvy ladies: I'm happy with "fit" me.

My measurements say I'm an hourglass, however, I look like a ruler. I would say skinny with muscles.

I don't know, I grew up with different cultures, and a lot of expressions that would make one angry, is readily used in another.

I remember one friend yelling "OH YOU SO FAT!" when I returned for another season, after being gone for the summer and gaining 30 pounds. I cried.....she ran over and said "No, this is good thing-you RICH!! "

I have been called thick in a complimentary tone from a few friends, and it doesn't bother me. Now FAT........that bothers me:laugh:

Oh and I am not sure of my 'shape'..............I am 36 32 36 right now :grumble: Even at my smallest, looking back, I always had that 4-6 inch difference in middle.

I think "plus-size" is also okay for describing an overweight woman. Years back, in the catalogs the sizes were "misses" and "women's", with women's sizes being plus-sizes.

Anyway, I remember when I first started wearing "plus-size" I went to Macy's to buy some jeans. I asked the sales person "What does the W stand for in the sizes..." womens"?" I was flabbergasted when she said: "No, it stands for "WIDE". OMG.
