    My cubicle at work is in a hidden corner, so I sneak in exercises throughout the day... no more kicking off my heels when I do my squats! Definately gonna have to try this!!

    I really would not suggest this at all. Your weight should be evenly distributed across your feet when squatting. This might seem fine when the weight is light but as you progress this will definitely become a problem and the injury risk is not worth the perceived benefit.
  • Squats in heels will give you a butt like woooooooooooooooooooooooooh!

    I wear heels all the time, but I'm not that brave. The threat of torn muscles is too much for me.

    Guys, have you SEEN the things strippers do in their heels? I don't think squatting will be a problem if you're careful and you know what you're doing, ha ha ha ';D

    I wear heels all the time. I run and jump and skip in my heels : )

    Squatting in them will be different but I take that as a challenge :D

    Strippers wear heels? Never quite make it that far down their bodies.

    Yeah, I don't think I could squat in heels with 100+ pounds on my shoulders, so thanks but no thanks.
  • I've been seeing this more and more lately, but can't honestly fathom it myself. Heels by themselves are awful for your feet, but combine that with exercise? No thank you. Heels ruined my feet (and it bums me out, because I love them!), so I wouldn't attempt this. More power to you if you can, just be careful!

    Squats on an incline are a legitimate exercise, my sports doctor actually reccomended them for part of my physio for patella tendonitis (body weight only). Like everything good form and stabilty before any weight is added. Maybe better just putting something under your heel or squatting on a ramp than in heels though

    if you arent steady in heels. u can simply wear your tennis shoes and place the heels of your feet on weights. this lifts your heel and you get the same result

    I'm not so sure. I can't see myself throwing dollars at someone in tennis shoes propped up on weight plates.
  • squating deep is much better with a raised heel cos it keeps the shin more perpendicular to the floor = more upright torso, quads worked much better as ur not leaning forward and using ur back as much

    HOWEVER if u wana do tht buy some olympic weightlifting shoes. they have a raised wooden heel

    theyre safe and secure

    dont do them in heels, at least not with weights

    makes good practice for them porno style bj's tho i guess


    if u squat wide stance and go parallel some flat shoes will probs be better, for deep squat deffo oly shoes

    Those looking for a little spice in their routine... I tried these tonight in my platform heels and holy moly- you get a much deeper squat and it feels like you are working your legs so much more than regular ones! I did 30 reps and that got me tired.. and I can really feel it in the glutes too. :)

    TRY THEM! But of course, be very careful not to be sloppy because this is much more dangerous than flat footed (lol). Stay in control and remember quality/form over quantity. Keep that back straight, pull that belly button into the spine, squat low... and feel the burn! :)


    ETA: I'm not promoting that these replace your normal fitness regimen/squats that you do during your normal daily workout.
    I always look for ways to incorporate toning/exercise throughout my normal day... so if I can fit in 30 squats in my heels before I go to work or go out for the night... and feel like I've worked 2x as hard... I'm all for it. :)

    ETA#2: I didn't add extra weight, nor do I recommend you add any extra weight. Your own body weight/resistance is perfect.

    BRILLIANT. I use a half-yoga ball on a platform (whatever that thing is called) to balance while doing squats but THIS is an EPIC idea... and I own so many pairs that it will be perfect so the BF stops complaining that I collect but never wear them! Now I'll be wearing them all the time! haha thanks!! xoxoxx :)

    Haha no prob!!! Maybe wear them around while you're cleaning... if he's glued to the TV, walk in front... do 10 reps of squatting while dusting off TV and see if he is still watching TV after.

    You'll have his attention AND have burned a couple cals lo:drinker: l.

  • This promotes poor form. You're not supposed to put all of your weight on the ball of your foot. You want your weight to be somewhat shifted towards your heels.

  • I am going to try this i spend a lot of my time in my heels anyways for work and it sounds like it can add some extra something for my at home workout :happy:

    I am not coordinated enough to do that ( I dont to clubs for the same reason lol) I would break my ankle and then have to explain to the ER doc that someone on the internet told me to squat in heels and i dont want him or her to give me THAT look.

    You can scroll through and there are other methods like one person suggested doing them with a weight under you. I use to do them on a ledge or you can do it on your tip toes holding on to the wall.

    This is asinine. Sorry, but doing this is asking for trouble eventually and why would it be worth the risk? It takes .5 seconds to kick off your heels, then do your squats the way nature intended you to stand, ON YOUR FEET. Plus squats are best when you push through your heel. You're trusting the stability of that 5" high, 1/2" wide piece of ...what, shoe material, to your safety? Please be smarter than this.
