Protein Bar Recipes

My boyfriend and I are spending a ton on proteing bars, so I would like to start making them at home to save money and also make healthier ones. I'm searching online, but a lot of recipes seem to have a very long list of ingredients. Does anybody have some recipes for protein bars that don't require a ton of ingredients? Thanks!

Here's a link to a recipe. I haven't made them yet, but the macros are good and there aren't any "weird" ingredients :0)0

I made a batch last night.
2 scoops chocolate protein powder (30g ea)
1cup uncooked oatmeal (I used quick oats).
1/2 cup egg whites
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon natural peanut butter
2 tablespoons sweetened coconut (may omit or substitute mini chocolate chips)
Mix well
Spray 8x8 glass pan with cooking spray
Cook at 350 for 20 min, until pulls away from sides of pan.
Makes 9 servings - 90kc, 10c, 2f, 8p, 2g sugar, 48g sodium (each serving)
I may add a little Stevia next time, just to sweeten it up a tad.0 -

Directions
Melt cream cheese, natural peanut butter, and chocolate square in microwave. Remove and mix while adding 1/4 cup water.
Add vanilla extract and Splenda. Mix well.
Add walnuts and protein powder. Knead well with clean hands. Mixture will be stiff. After you have finished kneading and the doughy mixture appears to still need liquid, add 1 Tbs. of water at a time until mixed well.
Place in 8" x 8" -or- 9" x 9" baking pan by flattening evenly with hands.
Refrigerate.
When cooled and hardened, cut evenly into 8 bars.

This one is from Bodybuilding.com forums and looks really easy!
No-Bake Easy Protein Bars
2 cups Quaker oats (or equivalent)
2 tbsp natural peanut butter
8 scoops (240 g) generic brand whey protein powder (or equivalent)
1 package sugar-free, fat free-Jell-O
Dash of cinnamon
Dash of vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
1 cup COLD water
After the bars set up in the fridge, I put them in the freezer for 2 hours and then cut them into 8 individual pieces. After a workout, I let them thaw for 30 minutes or so and they are consistently firm and not squishy or runny. Why? The Jell-O mix. Be sure to use cold water when mixing the Jell-O and whey, as it sets up nicer. Aside from baking, these bars are second-to-none to being able to stay firm when thawed out. They yield (approximately) per bar:
225 calories
6 g fat
23.5 g protein
I encourage anyone who makes their own bars to experiment with different ingredients to find something that not only tastes good, but also provides them with their own individual nutritional needs. The greatest thing about designing and making your own product (in this case, protein bars) is being able to substitute and improvise to make something that appeals to you.0 -
1 c vanilla flavored whey protein
1 c quaker oats
1 c grape nuts
1 c peanut butter
1/3 bag chocolate chips (we use the small (mini) ones)
1 c honey
1 tsp almond extract
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Combine all ingredients. Coat 9x13 pan with cooking spray. Pour mixture into pan and press out firmly. Refrigerate. Cut into bars.0 -

They are more of a protein bar snack recipe versus an after workout or before workout protein bar recipe, nonetheless they taste great!!0 -
bump for later so I'll remember...
I have an awesome recipe for "Lembas Bread" (from the Lord of the Rings; yes, I'm a dork). It's high-protein AND low-carb. Uses almond flour, vanilla protein powder, cinnamon, walnuts, maple syrup, bacon. Pretty short ingredient list & easy to make. I'm at work now but I will look up the recipe for you when I get home.0 -

These sound great! I like the carb/protien ration. I always find it interesting when something is being marketed as a protien bar, and it has twice as many carbs as protien.0 -
