She said you know you're getting too fat you your underwear no longer fits. I had to buy a new bra today, my bra now has three hooks instead of two
This will be my new motivation when I wake up in the morning for the gym...".your bra has three hooks, get out of bed and go to the gym"!

I dream of a 2 hook future! I am currently on the four hook with an extender plan! . One more thing to add to the "what I'm looking forward to when I lose weight list."0

My bra has three hooks and I wear a 36B. Do bras usually only come with two hooks?0

Ive seen them both ways. I'm a 38C0 -
When I was skinny my bra had 3 or 4 hooks. That is why I am getting a reduction when I get to a decent weight.0

Just this week I had to buy new bras because mine were getting roomy!
you can do it - just think, brand new underthings!!!0 -
your therapist said that??? I find that disturbing, to say the least.0

What therapist comments on your undies?
And FYI - my bra will always have three hooks. It's not evidence of my juicy fantasticness. It's just support for Mary Kate & Ashley...0 -
My bra has three hooks. Granted, it's a nursing bra, so I think they assume if you're nursing, you must need all the hooks you can get. Even at a B cup..
Actually, my sports bra has three hooks as well. I kinda like it. Makes me feel all awesome and secure.
I'm surprised your therapist said something like that, though. Maybe I've had good counselors in the past, but I can't see any of them commenting on stuff like that..0 -

She didn't say it TO me, like telling me I was getting fat (or talking about MY undies per se)...we were talking about weight gain, it was more a general statement. And when you're comfortable with someone and you've been seeing the same one for years, you'd be surprised what comes up in conversation.0 -
Yah, smaller bras would be ok with me, too.0

I've actually seen an A cup bra with four (FOUR!) hooks. And then a D cup with one. I scratched my head at that.
But my indicator is if the ladies are sitting on my stomach while wearing a bra when I'm sitting, I've got an issue.
*looks down*
damn. Still got an issue.0 -

I think it's an indicator of the quality or sometimes just the style of the bra. Higher qualiy bras tend to have more adjustment features and have metal hooks and adjusters rather than plastic. Then again, even some high end bras only have two hooks when they are meant to be a sexier style.0

I never correlated bra hooks with my weight, thanks!
mine has 3 but I am also a G cup hella scared of reduction surgery so hopefully MFP gets these babies down. LOL0 -

I wear a 32C and mine always have three hooks. I think it's just a variation in the manufacturer. I've never seen anything without three hooks, though, in any size. Sometimes I prefer for the band to be a little looser or tighter depending on what I'm wearing and how I'm feeling.
Good for you, though, find motivation wherever you can!0 -

I think the 3 hook thing has to do with how big your cup size is. I have been a 34DDD since I was 18 and I only weighed 135 at the time. So.....I dont really know what my point was anymore lol to hungry. Waiting for hubby to get home so we can eat dinner since the kids are with the grandparents tonight anyways..........0 -

Only you can be the judge of whether the comment was appropriate or not. Clearly you feel it was appropriate and said in a light-hearted manner not in specific regard to any one individual, just sort of as a mantra or joke. Don't allow anyone to shape your perception of your therapist. (Although I'm pretty sure you already do this and don't need this advice lol.)0 -

Why does it matter to you? The thread is about bra hooks...0 -

This! I suppose some people benefit from the initial "7 free sessions" that an insurance company might typically offer, but I don't understand the original comment that seemed judgmental about seeing a therapist for years. Sometimes one might need to go once a month (or more frequent) if dealing with something, but then you might not feel the need to go but twice a year....hence a several year relationship with a therapist. And once you find a therapist you like and click with it would make absolutely no sense to switch to a different one later.0 -

I did not intended to judge, although I see now how it might seem that way. I once saw a counselor for a couple years. At that time, I started to feel like I was paying her bo be my friend. I think it's fair to hold a therapist to a professional standard. When talking to a client who wants to lose 60 pounds, a professional therapist shouldn't make comments like - you know you're fat when you need a three hook bra. Friends, however, do make exactly that kind of faux pas, and later need to return and apologize. Like I am about to do.
I do sincerely apologize if I have hurt your feelings and/or increased your woes.
Good luck on your weight loss journey.0 -
My therapist would totally say something like that. I really appreciate that my therapist is like a real person.
I've despised all the therapists in the past who have every hair in place, sit up straight and tall as a pin, would never say anything even remotely offensive ever...0 -
