    Real Genius

Popcorn anyone? Who wants a sweater? I loved the moment when Val Kilmer's character tells Gabe that they're smart, but they're nothing to the student who graduated several years before who's living in the steam tunnels of the university.

The Never Ending Story! With a dragon that looks like a flying cocker spaniel!
Atrayu! I had such a huge crush on him.

The ones I watched the most as a kid and therefore must be my favorites:

    Heathers
    Goonies
    Stand By Me
    Weird Science
    The Lost Boys
    The Outsiders
    Popeye
    The Dark Crystal
    Little Shop of Horrors
    Karate Kid
    National Lampoons Vacation
    Summer Rental
    The Breakfast Club
    Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Yeah, me and my sisters watched a lot of TV when we were kids. We wore out at least one Betamax machine.

I just ordered Ral Genius to show my kids the scene about the "tape recorders" in the lecture hall! Great flick, and was hard to find.

Wow I haven't even heard of a lot of these. I was born in 80 though, so I guess most of these would have been when I was too young to really watch them. Guess I am going to have to start renting some!

I LOVE 80s movies, John Hughes, the whole Brat Pack, etc. I think Say Anything might be my favorite, but there isn't a one that I won't stop and watch if I'm flicking through the channels and one comes on. Even the more obscure ones, like Youngblood or American Anthem. And of course, the ensemble casts like The Outsiders!

I am with you on the John Hughes thing! Brilliant man - brilliant movies. When they are on TV I watch them, even when I own them on dvd and could watch them ad free

There are only a few movies that I watch whenever I come across it while channel surfing. From the 80s that would be...

    The Princess Bride

Anybody remember BREAKIN' or how about BREAKIN' 2 ELECTRIC BOOGALOO?? Ya, they were pretty bad. But Im going with TOP GUN for best 80's movie. It would be a good movie to see, even today. It would not look "cheesy" compared to some other 80's movies. I watched the original FOOTLOOSE last week - ya it was kinda "cheesy". There was scence where John Lithgow was using an actual typewriter - remember those??

No way! We loved it! And my boyfriend told me recently that it was one of his favorites when he was a kid too. Me and my sisters could probably still sing the songs from the movie.
