If I just boil eggs and throw the yolk away.
From an average egg how much calories would 1 egg white likely contain?
I think in 100g of an egg there is 147 cals - but how much of that is the yolk?

each egg white is ~16-17 calories. why toss ALL of the yolk. you should eat at least 1-2 a day--it won't hurt you a bit unless you already have cardiovascular disease or are at risk for it.0

1 large egg is 70 calores
1 large egg white is 25 calories
I think it is in the database though :]0 -
Egg whites are about 54 calories per 100g.0

Ok, so this website has a food database. If you search in there for "egg white" you are probably going to find what you're looking for. Failing that, the google beast might be of some use. Why are you eating whites only, anyway?0

Or just buy the cartons of egg whites maybe? Seems like such a waste to just toss the yolk0 -
I already basically have 100g of fat - look at my diary everyone0

17 calories in a large egg white and 72 in a whole egg. The cholesterol rich center contains lots of E, A, C, D, K, B12, B6 and much more which the white does not have. Sometimes I go for the protien rich white (although yolk has a good amt too) on a sandwich, but I don't completely avoid the yolks by any means. Happy egg eating to you!0

not sure what kind of egg whites you're eating. 1 serving of "all whites" or "egg beaters" is about that but not an egg white from an egg.0 -

15 calories is what I meant you are right.
I don't eat any form of egg whites. Egg beaters or from eggs. I think they are disgusting :P0 -

One egg = 70 calories.
Most of the goodness is in the yolk.

can't really max out on fat in my opinion. If you want to get easy calories in start using a milk with a higher fat content, more olive oil, seeds, nuts, avocado, fatty fish, potatoes w/ butter or sour cream, starchy veggies like corn/peas/yams, more beans--less bulky veggies.0 -
consider this... have a whole egg and one egg white. That way you are actually getting all of the nutrients from the whole egg and getting full in the meantime. Scramble it with some fresh veggies that you grill up and voila you have delish dish. I put in feta and salsa for breakfast, but I eat the whole eat. About a full dozen of whole eggs a week.
have fun and happy eating!0 -

Hating on eating egg whites is almost as bad as scare mongering about egg yolks. Both are stupid.0

I buy egg whites in the carton. Search the database for Lucerne (Safeway brand) 100% liquid egg whites or Egg Beaters egg whites. Egg yolks are okay to eat as well, but they have more calories. I usually have about 1/4 cup of egg whites or more plus a whole egg. The yolk has valuable nutrients and the whites are a rich source of protein, but no fat.
I have seen other posts from people in the UK saying the egg whites aren't available there, but I found this:

Fat doesn't make you fat
Eat the yolk if it tastes good to you.
No harm in it
average large egg = only 70calories
Packed w/ nutrients0 -
There's no such thing as "maxing out" on any specific macro while weight gaining. Eat the whole egg, the extra nutritional benefit far outweighs the 4 grams of fat.0
-
I like eggs. If you are worried about calories or whatever. I mix one large egg yolk and all and 1 beater that way you get some color and more flavor.0

if ur on a weight gain diet no need to be concerned... just make sure you get adequate protein and minimum fat requirements which is like around 50g (again depends on bodyweight) and then have a caloric surplus from whatever other calories you want just dont go overboard on a surplus for minimal fat gains.... eat the whole egg0
