I usually drink a whey protein shake mixed with water but the other day I needed to up my calories so i added full cream milk and my boyfriend kept on going on about how mixing it with milk will make me put on weight is this true? I strength train 3-4 times a week and I do cardio 3 times a week and I try and make sure it is in line with my macros and I only drink it with milk when im too low on my calories for the day.

Your boyfriend doesn't know what he's talking about. Are you exceeding your daily calories?
Yes: you gain weight
No: you don't gain weight0 -
No I dont usually exceed my calories unless its the weekend then I go over a little bit.0
-
I always mix my protein shakes with skim milk and I'm still loseing...I don't exceed my calories for most days0
-
I ws told that I needed to add more dairy to lose weight.0

Unless you are lactose intolerant and diary causes bloating, you're fine. If you are within your calories, no problem. I hate to not be solid with a brother but your boyfriend is all wet on this!0
-
I make mine with water and lots of ice0

I agree if your not going over your calorie intake allowed then NO you wont gain weight.
If you are worried you could use a lower fat milk or almond milk instead of full fat milk.
I have 3 protein shakes a day
1 with berries & water
1 with water & OJ
1 with Almond Milk
And in 54 days I lost 31 lbs.0 -
I drink mine with skim milk and still lose weight.0

4oz water 4 oz skim milk will be fine0

I look at your diary and it is very inconsistent. You were a little over a couple of days and really under others. That will really mess you up. I drink 2% milk all day everyday, it doesn't matter what you eat/drink as long as you're under your maintenance cals.0

I have *never* drank a protein shake made with anything but milk (usually soy milk) and I'm not gaining weight.0

Your boyfriend appears to be making it up as he goes along, the milk doesn't magically transform the protein in a weight gaining serum0 -

This!
If you are within your calorie allowance you will NOT gain weight, regardless of whether you use full fat milk or not!0 -
He's wrong....as long as it fit's into your calories you can mix it with anything you like...I mix mine with half a cup of 0% honey greek yogurt - it tastes like sweet thick yummy pudding, and turns the 24grams of protein into 32!:drinker:0

count your calories do your workouts and dont worry about it I sometimes have full fat dairy or foods and as long as I stay in my numbers I continue to lose. I dont lose anywhere as fast now as I did in the beginning but I also have a smaller BMR since I am lighter work your numbers and if you are full fat just enjoy it0

Thats crap. Unless your going over your calories, then you can't gain weight from the milk. I would suggest you don't listen to your boyfriend on any nutritional advise based on that advise he just gave you. haha0

It will not mess her up - it is actually fine to not eat exactly the same amount of calories every day .....0 -
Get Almond milk or Soy milk. They're only 30 to 60 calories a cup depending on which one you get and taste the same as full cream milk.
Edit: The expiration date is also 3 months on Soy or Almond milk. Way better then the the 10 day expiration day on cow milk.0 -

Mess her up in what way? If she is still averages out around her weekly intake goal, a few days under or over won't "mess her up", don't spread false information.0 -

^This I can see where he's coming from though if he doesn't understand how calories work. Many people will scarf down several shakes, and with whole fat milk, yes, that would increase calories quite a bit.0 -
I use unsweetened almond milk everyday.0

Brooooooscience. It's no different than drinking the same amount of milk and the shake separately. As long as you're close to all your macro goals/within your calorie limits, you should be a-okay. Milk is good for you! I drink skim or 1%, but milk is an excellent source of calcium and protein too.0

*rolls eyes* you answered your own question...0 -
It is about calories in and calories out. If you have not exceeded your numbers, you are fine.0

No: you don't gain weight
Exactly.
Your boyfriend needs to read up.0 -

I haven't found the 7-10 day use thing to be true. I've gone over the 2 week mark after opening mine plenty of times. If you leave it outside of the fridge in a warm environment then it'll probably spoil in 7 days but not of it you keep it cold.
Edit: I also want to add that skim cow milk is a minimum of 90 calories per cup. Full cream milk will put you at 130 calories at the least.0 -
Sometimes I just want to ****ing shake people through the interwebs.0
