Sometimes I just want to ****ing shake people through the interwebs.

So what you want to shake people because they are unsure about something? I wasn't fully sure so I asked im just trying to find out what is best for me geez. And same goes with the guy who rolled his eyes im pretty sure you didn't know everything about nutrition and fitness at some point. So what if I answered my own question I didn't know if what I was thinking was right or not and I just wanted a different input and I just want to know if what im doing is what is best for me or if I was on the wrong track. No need to be rude.

Didn't mean you. It was more of a general statement of all the false information people like to spread.

I believe they were both directing the eye rolling and shaking at your boyfriend's broscience and not at you for asking the question.

I look at your diary and it is very inconsistent. You were a little over a couple of days and really under others. That will really mess you up.

Mess her up in what way? If she is still averages out around her weekly intake goal, a few days under or over won't "mess her up", don't spread false information.

I think eating 500-600 calories some days then 2500 others can mess her up yes.

Thanks sunshine. It's just not 300-500 cals difference people she had less than 1000 a couple then over 2200 the other. I don't any any specifics but it'd be like putting the body on starvation mode and then indulging it with a surplus she would probably gain weight fromt hat.
  • Good info. I just bought a whey protein shake powder. Actually I feel really full and still have extra calories. I like it.

Your boyfriend doesn't know what he's talking about. Are you exceeding your daily calories?
    Yes: you gain weight
    No: you don't gain weight

your body does not go into starvation after one day of eating low....Otherwise we would all have non-functioning metabolisms after a day of illness and eating to little....:noway:

As long as her weekly calories are healthy, it will be fine - I lost 60lbs eating different calories on different days ....Google calorie cycling or the Wendy plan....It actually works well....:drinker:

That's not really true. It's a little like what people who calorie cycle or do intermittent fasting do all the time. Both approaches can be very effective in weight loss and will not make you gain weight unless you average eating over maintenance and thus do not create the necessary calorie deficit for weight loss.

I don't believe that the body goes into starvation mode after a few days, and you can believe what you want, I just don't agree with people making statements like that as if they are factual with sources, when they are not.

You can think what you want, but it doesn't mean it's true given the context.

It actually speeds up your metabolism. Look up intermediate fasting.

I have been inconsistent lately because im trying to find a good balance of macronutrients. I have been doing intermittent fasting for a week so im juggling certain things around to see what macros work best for me while trying to keep my protein high and I change my eating patterns depending on training/ rest days. I have also recently upped my calories so some days are insanely below what I should have been eating and im still adjusting to that too because im trying to build more lean body mass.

    Sara,

Like many other people have already made known on this topic--drinking milk will not automatically make you gain weight if you're staying within your calorie numbers. However cow milk, or dairy milk, is not necessarily the healthiest thing to for us to drink. I've found that Almond Milk (Original, not Vanilla flavored or anything) is a solid substitute for drinking dairy milk with my protein shakes. You don't taste the difference (at least I don't), and it doesn't contain soy, gluten, or lactose. And it's 60 calories a cup, which I can't really argue with.

I have a hard time drinking my shakes with water because I always have used regular milk up until recently, so I was used to the flavor and consistency that milk provided. I've cut dairy out of my diet completely, but for the days that I just really need a little "oomph" in my breakfast shake, I use Almond Milk because it is typically healthier and easier for our bodies to digest. (Provided your not allergic to ALMONDS!)

What dietetic nutritional reason would you give for the bolded statement? Please provide peer reviewed studies to back up your opinion.
