How much food does this hold?

I have a plate I like to eat off of:)

It is 7" in diameter and blue. It is also kind of flat like corning ware!

If I am eating spaghetti off of it, how much spaghetti does it hold or how much spaghetti am I eating???

well, if two trains are leaving two stations at the same time and one is going 75 mph and the other is going 65 mph, solve for x.

Really? O-kay....it depends how high you pile the spaghetti. I'm sure you could fit several cups on that plate if you tried. Best way to measure is with a food scale, or if you're measuring a cup serving of spaghetti, use a measuring cup then put it on the plate.

You need to multiply the diameter of the plate by how high you plan on piling the spaghetti.

You can't eat spaghetti - it has carbs.

I found a helpful chart of piling options and configurations.

Depends....what shade of blue is it?

How do I measure how high it is when the pile is the shape of a volcano....surely it isn't the same height all the way around the pile???

    Well let's see. First you get volume of a sphere by: v = 4/3 * π * r(cubed)

Then divide that by 2 since you're really talking about a hemisphere.

    = ??? ... lots

It doesn't matter, because psychologically, blue plates make us eat less, which is why restaurants have blue plate specials for all you can eat deals.

^^This. We obviously can't make a calculation until it's cleared up.

Also, are you having salad and toast with your spaghetti or is it just straight up s'ketti?

It is robin egg blue but it also has a yellow line around the rim:)

I'll have salad and toast with the spaghetti....It goes inside the volcano hole....

Blue absorbs all calories.....capacity is irrelevant.

I think that you would have 22oz of cooked pasta.

Do you not own measuring cups?

Although, the thought of measuring plates does seem enchanting...

Every one knows that when eating off of a 7' blue plate, you can only consume 622.876 calories, no matter how high you pile. This even works if you are putting sticks of lard on the plate,

To all those making fun of her.... She had a moment. She asked a stupid question. And I am sure she felt stupid enough without this thread completely directed at making fun of her. I bet NONE of you have ever asked a stupid question. Why are so many people so hateful on this site? I don't get it... I thought this forum was for support? Not to make someone feel so bad about themselves that they don't want to come back. You should be ashamed of yourselved.

Depends...do you break the spaghetti up into smaller pieces, or leave the sticks whole?

It all depends on the cooking and how much sauce you use. For example, with al dente, it tends to hold its shape better, allowing you to pile it higher and it will actually tend to contain sauce better at higher altitudes. Thanks to a subset of the venturi effect, called the alforno effect, sauce will actually generate its own lift when in a properly-cooked al dente pasta.

The shape of the pasta is also relevant. With, say, the proper elbow pasta, you can arrange it so the elbows interlock and then build up a layer of bowtie pasta, tying the whole thing together with angelhair and arranging flying buttresses of undercooked ziti. as a second containment wall. Then fill the whole thing with fettucini alfredo, start manipulating the cone with a fork, and mutter "this means something".
