DOES feel great when by 530am .... DVD's have been worked out, 3 miles have been run, and some yoga has been done..... then you can move on with tons of energy and the feeling of accomplishment!!! Good luck!
so darn true, I did Jillian Michaels 30 day shred the other day, after getting up and oooh lala it was wonderful that day!!! I am going to do more of this when waking up and vitamins in morning get me going too and coffee0 -
It may be dorky but when I get home at night I block someone in with my car who needs to leave super early. Which means if I don't get up to excercise I still have to get up to move my car. Not super motivating but it works0

Haven't read the replies so sorry if someone has said this. There is an android app(Free). "Sleep Bot" or "Sleep Tracker"? Anyways it tracks your sleep so that it wakes you in your light sleep as close to your ideal wake up time as it can. You then have to do a wakeness test. Something like find the sheep or simple math. If you fail the test the alarm snoozes and tries again in 7 mins (or whatever you set your snooze at) I like that it will wake you during light sleep rather than a set time so you don't get that horrible "woke in the middle of a dream" feeling. If you know what I mean. :laugh:0

I was having the hardest time fitting my workouts in at night. I was too tired and talked myself out of it everynight. Finally I decided I had to get my workouts done first thing in the morning no matter what. My alarm is away from my bed. I usually hit snooze and I lay back down and use that time to wake up. When it goes of the second time I tell myself in my own head, "I'M UP, I'M UP, I'M UP, I'M UP, I'M UP!!!!!! It really works for me. It's like yelling at myself. I'm pretty sure I got the "I'm up" tip from Chalene Johnson.0

I saw this fun alarm clock that rolls off your dresser when it goes off and rolls around your room so you have to chase it to shut it off... I think that would work lol
My husband also has his alarm on his cell phone attached to an app that makes him do math to turn it off. If you get it wrong, it keeps ringing. Depending on how hard you set the math to.. that will get you up to.0 -
Make staying in bed not an option. You have a decision to make. Is it okay to stay in bed? Will you let yourself down again?
Decide staying in bed is not an option for you.. even if just for this one day.
The first two weeks suck and will be hard. Keep on and it will become easier.
Have a great day!0 -
Theres 3 alarm clocks on my cell phone. I set them all to go off about 3 minutes after the previous one. Then, I have an actual alarm clock radio that I set to go off when the last cell phone alarm goes off. I also go to bed at a reasonable time, or else waking uo at 5 a.m. simply wont work. I wake up at 6 or 7.0

Also, do cardio whenever its best for you to do it. Dont do it so early in the morning because you heard that its best. They're talking about the fact of doing cardio before breakfast, not about doing cardio early in the morning. Also, the benefits of morning fasted cardio are that you burn a greater "percentage" of bodyfat rather than doing it later on in the day, but it doesnt burn a drastically greater amount of bodyfat, just slightly more that when added up, you will notice over a long period of time.
Do cardio whenever is best for you.0 -
start going to bed at 8:00 / 8:30 until you re-adjust your body clock - then it gets easier ...0

I put my alarm clock across the room- so I have to get out of bed to turn it off.0

Get a cat. I read somewhere there is no snooze button on a cat that wants breakfast.
So true.0 -
Get a time machine, go back to when you were a kid and have your dad wake you up at 5.30am every morning to go out to work at 6am.
Worked for me... I can't lie in even if I wanted to (unless I get hammered the night before, but that's not recommended and a forty-something hangover is not worth the hassle )
I think some folks are early birds like me, or night owls like my hubster (although he does get up early for work weekdays, he loves to lie in at the weekend and/or stay up late pottering around the house)
I get frustrated at the weekends, because none of the local gyms/pools are open before 8am and if I don't get up and out first thing, I lose the inclination and like today (which was also dreich beyond belief) I end up being a lazy slob.0 -
I don't think - I just do it. That and my kids drive me crazy when I'm working out, so I am motivated to get done before they get up - but like Nike says....JUST DO IT0

Just get up as soon as it goes off. Don't let yourself hit snooze, or lay there for moments after. Just force yourself to get right up as soon as you hear it.0

This is going to sound awful BUT if you want it bad enough you will just get up and do it. No tips we give you here will help you. You need to do it for you because you want it and you want to do it for you.0

I think the going to bed early point is a good one. I actually have my treadmill in my bedroom, so I don't have to go far. As a woman, the hardest thing was getting my workout clothes on. Now I just sleep in my sports bra and t shirt. I wake up, put a bottom on and my shoes and I stumble towards Mr. Shredmill! After a while it became a habit, so now I wake up on the weekends at 5 am.0

I havent read all the post sorry, did anyone mention Steve pavlina's method yet? Google Steve pavlina's how to be an early riser. Basically before bed you practice 3-4 times setting the alarm clock, lying down and pretending to sleep, then when the alarm goes off getting straight up and starting your routine.
The idea is to develop a habit. You have to get certain actions happening on auto pilot. Worked for me, I went from being a serial snoozer to consistently up with the first alarm. When i hear the alarm now my first thought is 'light on, sit up, then turn the alarm off, yhen stamd up. Give it a try, you'll feel really silly, but it works :-)0 -
we have a dog that cries by the side of the bed about 5AM, and if we don't let her out she pees on the carpet. We can rent her out to you.0

one small tip someone on here gave me is to crawl into workout clothes as soon as you wake up. have them right beside you ready to pull on0

Just do it!! Get up, don't hit snooze. Have your workout clothes/gear laid out and ready for you. Get plenty of sleep. I have a cup of coffee and sit for a few to "wake up", then go to it.0

Great idea on sleeping in the sports bra.0
