I can BARELY tell the difference in those two drawings.
I don't really understand the point of caring. Sure someone can offer your advice on how to dress your shape but you don't have to take it. I ignore it. I think "full" skirts are stupid looking and wear skinny jeans in spite of being "pear".0 -
I'd take your spoon shape. You've done a great job with it!0

I am somewhere between a pear and a spoon, I think. I definitely have the spoon's shelf-like hip bones, but I also have the pear's thighs and bum...lol.0

Hourglass.
I always thought i was, and this website verified it.
Edit: but I do gain some weight on top of my hips, does that make me a spoon? Or is that just coincidental.0 -
Thanks! Eh I can't tell.. I'm a spoony pear?
I can't tell either. spoony pears rule! :laugh:0 -
I always thought there were 4 options as far as body shape is concerned: Hourglass, Apple, Pear and Banana. Out of these I always figured I was an apple because I gain weight in my belly and love handle area, but I never had a "top heavy" appearance characteristic of an apple.
I decided to take my measurements and enter them into a calculator online and found out that I am a SPOON shape! I was so excited to actually find MY body shape because I have never even seen a body shape like mine on one of these sites. Spoon shapes have measurements similar to a pear shape, but we have high hips that create a "shelf" look and gain in our lower belly before our thighs/butt.
Here's a pear shape:
Here's a spoon shape:
Also here is a picture of me at different weights for a reference.
I just thought this might be helpful to any women shaped like me who never really fit into the typical body shape categories
Oh my goodness, I think I might actually be a spoon too! I used to think I was an hourglass, but lately I've been convinced that I'm a pear. But maybe I am, in fact, a spoon!
I too have those high hip bones and I've been hating that about myself since I started losing weight. I was beginning to think that something was wrong with my body but maybe my body just doesn't fit into the banana/apple/pear/hourglass club lol.
Thanks so much for this! It was encouraging and insightful! :bigsmile:0 -
It said I am a spatula shape? What?!0
-
i'm a dumb spoon.0

Can someone tell me who started all this nonsense? Women are beautiful and they do not fit into 6 different fruit or object definitions. What are the man shapes?0
-
I have a straight body type... apparently. Whatever.0

I am up for some spooning0 -
I stumbled upon this site a few days ago too! I've always known I'm not the typical "pear", because I have fairly well-defined shoulders and do not gain weight in my thighs so much, but my butt is definitely bigger than my bust, so I am not an hourglass either.
I have the typical "spoon" issues of GREAT legs, but a flubby belly and big upper arms (thanks for that Mum). It's so nice to finally find out there's a name for this shape and it's different to any other. The fashion tips were really helpful too - I laughed when I realised I already do all of the things listed!

I hate being a spoon :grumble:0

AH-HA! I AM A SPOON!!!!!! (light bulb) :happy:0

I would consider a spoon, the guys in the gym who think every day is upper body day. That or a light bulb.
