there it's out there and i am changing my ticker also. i just went for my first walk in my new neighborhood. don't know, could be a problem. just a little 2 lane road and @45mph. it can get busy in the morning. will try it again and see. there is an old closed down mobile home lot just up the street. i could go up there and just walk in circles in the parking lot. it was just cool out this morning for a change.

off to shower and meet with the lawyer again. hope it brings good news, yesterday it turned out to be good news. this will be the final stress for awhile.

    later,

 It was a bad week. I first thought I was doing well since I was eating more, but I was walking all over the pool playing w/ the kids. I don't think I was burning enough calories to count for "swimming, Moderately, treading water". I haven't been able to find anything to calculate "swimming slowly, walking in pool". For now, I'll just use the "moderately" choice and log in way fewer minutes than I actually did. Any advice?

    Hi all,

I had a good first week. Probably lost mostly water weight but the numbers are encouraging so I'll take them gratefully...lol. I added Melody (my mom) to the bottom list, I just didn't recall her numbers but she will do that today I am sure. I had to change my start weight since I got a digital scale and will be going by that one.

Wow, congrats Rhiannon, Maggie, Tammy on great weight losses. Keep up the good work. Cathy and Amy, thanks for being honest as this is what its all about...accountability...my weight can easily fluctuate from week to week so up a few pounds doesn't mean anything in the long run (until there is a multi -weekly trend). Keep up the program and it will pay off.

Kristin and Tammara, holding steady, maintaining and growing a baby is often the hardest. I know I struggle with maintenance mode (which I hope to be in, in another couple weeks).

I was thrilled with my 2 lb loss as I've been plateau'd for awhile. I have kicked up the intensity of some of my workouts and I think that has really made a difference...

Looking forward to the other reports...

    Morning ladies!

Rhiannon...thanks for moving me up! And nice loss!

Tamm...yay for maintaining! That means no gain!:drinker:

Cathy...wishing for good news for ya!:flowerforyou:

Maggie...Wowzers on the loss! Very nice!:drinker:

Amy(pyr)...Don't stress too much! Not sure about figuring the calories burned. The best thing I did for myself was buy a heart rate monitor that figured the calories burned. I got a Polar F6 and LOVE it! They are kind of pricey, but totally worth it if you really want to be accurate! Good luck!

Tammy...Nice loss for you as well! :drinker: Keep up the great work!

Martha...2 pounds is great! Kicking up the intensity is a great way to jolt your body and get out of those stinkin' plateaus! Nicely done!

Well...I am busy at work again today. Meeting with a daycare lady later this afternoon. I think she is the one! I went once by myself and once with my husband. Today I'm taking my mom with me. She lives only 2 streets away from us and is very fair on price. She is totally certified and has a two year degree in child development. All her refereces spoke very highly of her and emphasize at how great she is at teaching the kids! So, I'm feeling pretty confident! YAY! A huge weight lifted! ANYways...should get back to some work, but wanted to say good morning. Keep up the good work ladies!!!!

Woohoo! When I started the thread last night I just used my weigh-in from the day before but I just weighed-in and I got to add an extra 1.2lbs to my loss for the week!
I'm really interested to see how things go as the weeks continue because for this week anyway, going with the principles of Clean Eating rather than counting calories has made a HUGE difference in how I feel. I notice I'm sleeping better and I feel like my body has a lot more energy. I have put my food into the spreadsheet every couple of days out of curiosity to see what kind of calorie numbers by body is asking for on its own and depending on the day I've been eating between 1450 and 1950 calories. The best anyone can do is guess what someone's basal metabolic rate is and this site calculates suggested deficits based on a best guess but for me, based on this week I'm thinking I've been way under-eating calories (which I kept trying to trouble-shoot myself but I don't think I raised my calories enough). When I first read the Eat-Clean Diet book I was already using MFP and I just couldn't leap into not counting calories because I knew (based on what the book said) that I would be consuming more and I was SO AFRAID of gaining. But having had such an unsuccessful 7 months on here, I had no reason not to try. I hope the success continues.. Once I'm under 167lbs that will be the lowest I've been in my journey.

Kristin, I was so amazed when people around me had to start registering their unborn babies for daycare and preschool because things were so competitive. And here you get a year maternity leave! I still don't understand that you only get a handfull of weeks in the states. I think that's cruel

Cathy, good for you for just calling a spade a spade and moving on. I think being secretive with gains allows those demons to keep hold for longer. *hug*!

Tamm, a maintenance week is better than a gaining week because at least there are no lbs you have to see come and go. Have fun with the trainer! I know it's weird since I AM one, but I wish I had the resources to hire a trainer for a while. I can make my own routines and all that, but it's great to have someone right there pushing you through those last reps!!

AmyP, don't fret. Just find ways to make it better! I also have a Polar F6 and I couldn't believe how poorly I was estimating my calorie burn before when going by the charts and machines.

Hi everyone else! I still have limited computer time but I wanted to give a better check-in.

Lauryn, I hope things are okay with your extended family!!

    Have a great day everone!

Rhiannon...I know. Being from Canada, all my relatives think it's crazy that I don't get more time off! I can take up to 12 weeks, but I am thinking I'm going to only take 10. We only get so much of it paid, and our bills won't stop while I'm off. So 10 may be all we can really afford. I will have to see, but as of now, that is the plan. At least 10 weeks gives me time to get into some sort of routine with the little one. My sister-in-law took 11 weeks and she said that was plenty of time for them to get into a routine. So...fingers crossed that everything goes smooth.

    Good afternoon!

Rhiannon, Tammy, Maggie, Martha - Congratulations on the weight loss this week! :flowerforyou:

Cathy - I hope everything works out soon for you!

Lauryn - How is your husband's grandfather? I hope everything goes well.

Tamm - Good for you for not getting upset at maintaining! :flowerforyou: I ditto what Rhiannon said about a maintenance week.

Kristin - Good luck w/ the daycare meeting. I know how stressful it can be to try to find good (yet affordable) child care. I'm glad you feel this might be the one!

Kristin & Rhiannon - Thanks for the advice abut burning calories. I'm going to look into getting a HRM. I wasn't too sure how accurate the amt. of cals burned was anyway on the moderate swimming.

I did go to the doctor this morning & found out I have a bone spur on the joint of my big toe & the onset of arthritis in that toe. I got a cortizone shot & an appt to go in to be fitted for orthotics. I may end up needing surgery on it down the road. The worst part of it is that he told me I can't walk as my main form of exercise  because it will aggravate the toe! That's what I like do to the best! And walking is what helps me lose weight best too. So right now, I REALLY need to concentrate on the cals & h2o!

Amy (pdx) - I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. They become such a part of the family, and it's not easy when we have to say goodbye.

Back on track though! I worked out yestedary for the the first time in 5 weeks *gasp*!!!!! :noway:

Amy, so sorry to hear about your pup!!!

I have to request some prayers today too. My brother-in-law lost his job today due to lay offs. He and my sister are both corporate attorneys and with no one merging or doing any big deals, a lot of firms, espcially on the east coast where they live, are cutting back. Hoping he finds something bigger and better but we will see!!!

Amy (pyr) so sorry to hear about your feet p robllems and that you can'twalk. Did they mention any other kind of cross training that you could do without aggrevating it? Elliptical? I"m guessing swimming would be good but not everyone has access to a pool (I don't at the moment). I can relate as I thought I broke my toe a few weeks ago and I freaked thinking I'd be off of running. The xray showed no fracture so its just sore. I can wear my running shoes as they are soft and sandals but have yet to get that foot in a closed dress type shoe. GLad thishappened in the summer. You might think about getting an opinion from a sports medicine doctor or someone sympathetic to exercise. If the walking doesn't hurt you a lot, I"m not sure that I would quit until it did!

Amy (pyr) I just saw your note about the bone spur. My mom had one in about the same spot and had to have surgery eventually, but it definitely doesn't bother her as much anymore. I think the only trouble she has now is when the weather is going to change she says it gets stiff. ( i think she's making that up, HAHA!!!) Hope you get some relief My mom is actually a PE teacher so she definitely know what it's like to not get to enjoy the same activities. hang in there!!!

    Good morning ladies! Another day!

Amy (pdx)...I am SO sorry for your loss. I can relate as our first family dog passed away two weeks ago. I still think about her constantly. They really do become like our children. My thoughts are with you.

AmyLou...I am praying for your brother in this tough time. And no worries on the gain...you'll lose it again quickly!

Amy (pyr)...sorry about the bone spurs. I can understand the frustration with not being able to walk. During my pregnancy that has been my only form of exercise and losing that would be SO hard! I am thinking about you!

Cathy...I am SO happy to hear things are working out for you! You totally deserve it!

Martha...sorry about the broken toe...but you're right. Better in the summer than winter!

    Everyone else...Hello!

I go back to the doctor today. A normal two week appointment. I'll be interested to see what the heart rate is this week as it was very high last time due to the glucose testing. So...I'll let you know how it goes! I gotta get started on some work, but I'll BBL! Have a good morning!

    Nice job everybody!!
I weighed in yesterday but was slacking on my reporting. I did well with my workouts, even in the yucky heat, but I had a little too much fun eating and drinking on Saturday. So, I'm down 0.5 pounds. I guess it's better than being up 5 pounds? I'm excited now that the heat wave seems to have passed (for now) I can actually enjoy running outside!
My goal for this week is to keep track of my eating better and not blow it on the 4th of July!
