Should I cut my hair like this?

I just saw this thread and I see that you cut it. It looks super cute on you!!!!!!0

I would be pissed off if i came to you for a haircut and you wouldn't do it because you didn't think i could "pull it off." That's for me to decide and no one else!! Licensed or not - your opinion on my hair shouldn't matter...
Heres the thing, just like we all have opinions and when asked, I'm going to give mine. If I'm the one cutting the hair, my opinion does in fact matter. I'm not going to let someone walk out with my name in their hands/hair and they look terrible with said hair cut. I've never just flat out told someone "no i'm not going to cut that haircut at all," but I have made tweaks and suggestions to better suit the client's features and facial shape.
IMO that's what a good stylist should do. The last few times I've gone to mine I've had a few pictures that I like but I tell her to cut it how she thinks it will look best and work best for my hair. Which is why my cut is a little different than the picture. I would be really upset if my stylist gave me a great cut that wasn't flattering without even offering her opinion. I love my stylist and that she'll tell me if she doesn't think a particular cut or style will flatter my face shape. That is, after all, her job and what she spends a great amount of time doing.0 -
Aww thanks everyone! I'm going to try the Bed Head Hard Wax like someone suggested too.0

To me this is like saying that the cashier's opinion about my food purchase at the grocery store matters. lol It doesn't. However, given that I know pretty much nothing about fashion and style I would certainly be more receptive to your "tweaks and suggestions", but I wouldn't accept you denying me service if I didn't accept them. You would lose a customer and generate some very negative advertising from me. I don't go to the salon often at all. I haven't been in more than a year, actually. When I go I always tell my stylist this, "I don't really care what you do, just make sure it looks good, and that I don't leave here bald." I am not picky, but if I happened to be the kind of woman who wants something a certain way I can guarantee that I'd be pissed off if I got denied service because I am not willing to accept the stylist's advice.
Haha, that almost happened to me. The woman was so afraid that if I got my formerly-shoulder-length hair cut into a pixie, I'd apparently hate her forever or seek retribution or something. It was REALLY annoying. I understand there are some women like that (I've had the misfortune of sitting next to some real winners while in salon chairs), but jeez...I literally had to break out my old student ID photo from when I had a pixie cut in the past to prove that I really did want the cut. It was a bit ridonkulous. And if I didn't live in such an extremely small town and had better places to get it cut, I'd have walked out then and there for her attitude.
Anyway, to the OP: your hair looks FANTASTIC!! Really great choice!! Honestly I like the way you have it better than the actress, but as you said, you can play it up or down, that's what's fantastic about it. You're a stunning blonde!
And to the "we're losing femininity" and "that looks butch" people: Natalie Portman shaved her head for V for Vendetta, and was still a freaking hot, sexy, feminine woman. So shove that up yours. :flowerforyou:0 -

I've never tried wax, but for more casual styles, I use Got2Be Playful Pomade...it works GREAT! Target had it recently on clearance for $3.75, and there's been coupons in the Sunday papers for Got2Be products...$3 off any product, so I stocked up on them for .75 cents each.:happy:0 -

OH and your hair is awesome...I want to see pics of different styles you try!0 -
I can't see the pics because i'm on a work computer, but i'm sure you look fab!
i just wanted to say that i recently went from blonde hair that reached my lower back, to a shaved head. and it's great! hair grows back- it's only hair. and it definately does not define our gender identity! and you get to have fun with different styles as it grows back in. FWIW, my hair is now about 1cm long and bright red :-). Just doooo eeeet!0 -
She reminds me of snow white...0

At the end of the day the decision has to be made by you and not other people. Do what you fell happy with0

I really dislike these hair lengths- were losing femininity in the world!
Some people look great with it but it is so hard to pull off
Are you kidding me? Short hair has been part of women's fashion since the Victorian era. This isn't a 1950's Donna Reed show...femininity comes in all shapes, sizes, and hair lengths. I've rocked short hair since I was 10, and I know many others who do too. It's actually not all that hard to pull off.0 -
I have short hair too. The way I see it, if you don't like it, give it a few weeks and it will grow. It's only hair...I think it is very cute BTW0

She asked for opinions and people gave their opinions... STOP WITH THE COMPETITIVENESS AND *****INESS and accept people have different views. no need to single people out because they don't like or have the same views as you...
People on here make me want to quit- seriously.
I have social issues as it is and people singling me out doesn't help... I get involved, share my view of which she asked openly for... and yet people rip into me?? Stop being a group of bullies and accept people don't all agree with one-another.
And hair can be something that is part of femininity- hence why a lot of cancer victims- my nan for example- no longer felt like a woman without it.
i didnt say it MEANS your no longer a woman so read properly before jumping to conclusions- PLUS i also said it looks good on people that can pull it off so again, stop with the conclusions. People only ever notice the negatives in life...
It was MY opinion given to the OP not anyone else- stop bullying... I am actually shaking in rage and fear now so thanks a bunch0 -

READ properly... 'Some people look great with it' and it is depending on the face shape etc... so i was not aiming this at people... it was my opinion to the OP and not a target to others. I personally dont like it, but no need to get sore at me just because you have short hair? MY OPINION of which she asked for...0 -

And even in the '50's, women's hair was quite short. This is my Mom in about '53 or '54....
... which I just love because I like plaid capris and keds, too.0 -

Actually, there wasn't much there to read in the first place...except for an opinion that "were losing femininity in the world". If you share a vague opinion but then expect people to read between the lines of what you said to get your point, you will be very disapointed. Also, you offered a retraction of your opinion that some people look great in it by saying "but it is so hard to pull off". You shared your opinion in a public forum. Expect rebuttals. I'm sorry you are offended that many in here do not agree with you, but you really are in the minority on this one.0 -
why would a woman want to look like an unkempt school boy? :-( sad.
Because it's sexy0 -
I think your hair cut looks way too cute. i liked Gennifer's when she had it done also. Show's off the beautiful face.
There are a few women in Hollywood who rock shorter hair..Halle Barry..I like in short hair Vs long hair,
Also Winona Ryder (spelling)..she rocks short hair.
But, to be me, I am Apostolic, which is a Latin form of Pentecostal..converted a few years ago..We NEVER cut, burn, tear, break, etc our hair.
Nope, it us it is a religious thing. Believe me when I say, at first I really balked at not being able to even trim the dead and split ends. But the more I get into my religion, and the Bible, I would never shorten my hair.
It is my "mantal" a prayer bonnet..
But, I would also NEVER tell anyone else how to wear their hair.
God Bless us all, long or short hair..

^^ This is what I was thinking too!!!! Women have a lot of freedom now unlike in the 1950's. I had a boy cut last summer and LOVED it!!!0 -

Got it cut yesterday! Lol it's going to take some more experimenting with different waxes/ pastes to get it as piece-y as hers, but...
sorry it's so freakin' big but I have no clue how to resize the darn thing!
edit: finally got it resized!
HOW FREAKING ADORABLE.. I LOVE HOW IT TURNED OUT. As Borat would say...... "Verrry Niiiice" Very Niiice Eyes you have there. This turned out absolutely faboulous. I love it... This is how I would have done your hair. Just like this! I bet it feels great too lovely lady.....0 -

THIS ^ ^^ ^ ^ ^ ^ WAY OFF BASE. What I was originally trying to say, was that I think short hair is very cute on the right face. Growing up, my sister's and myself always wore "pixies". Loved it. Nice in the summer time.
Then, What I was trying to get across is that no one has the right to tell you what you should/should not do with your hair. Pointing out, that I chose to wear my hair long for
I was merely explaining why I chose long hair.
Really sorry if you got offended, it was not meant to be like that.
i think that OP's hair looks cute on her.
Have a wonderful day,
IN Him,
Nicolette
P.S. This is the way I almost always sign my post's and PM's. Don't get your panties in a wad over it.0 -
Not a fan of short hair so my opinion would be no.
