Good morning fellow challengers! How is all going? My weekend...not so good. The scale says that I am UP 3 pounds this morning! :grumble: How FRUSTRATING! :grumble: However...even though I didn't eat the greatest this weekend, I did workout both Saturday and Sunday so didn't go over my alloted calories. So...I can't really see this extra weight sticking. So...last week I had hit my 20 pounds lost (down to 163 pounds) and now the scale says 166. :explode: So...I will probably post again later this week when my body is back to normal! I hope everyone else is on track and all is going GREAT!

For workouts...I'm doing really well! Like I said...worked out both Saturday and Sunday...Saturday was Spinning class and BodyPump and Sunday I did 2 hours of cardio. Friday night my hubby and I only did an hour at the gym (rather than 2) but otherwise I'm sticking to my plan!

I look forward to hearning how you all are doing! Good luck and I'll check in again later this week! WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!!

  • I had a pretty challenging weekend also... nothing seem to fill me up. I did, however, lose 1 lb. And I am ok with that because I had lost 4 the week before.

So starting weight for July Goal:
    186 lbs

    Now:
    177 lbs

Total loss since I joined MFP 13 lbs.

Two weeks ago I had gained 1 lb thanks to a certain time of month among other things. But this week I dropped back down and then some by sticking to my plan.

I knew we were going out to eat on Friday like usual so I ran 1 mile, elliptical for 30 min, TaeBo for 30 min, situps, etc. On Saturday we went on a 3 hour cross country ski. Yesterday I did more running, elliptical, situps and practiced orchestra music (lucky for me, playing a brass instrument apparently burns calories!)

    Two weeks ago - 165
    Last week - 166
This week - 162 (which officially means I have lost 20 lbs and have almost reached the halfway point!)

I don't think I will make my VDay goal of 160 by Thurs, but I'm still happy with the results of the last month. I've lost 2 inches on my waist which means that my pants are starting to need a belt and I can fit into older clothes now!!

Well, this weekend was good and bad. I hit my 10lb loss of Friday, yay! but then I had planned some valentines stuff (early) for the boyfriend, so Saturday we went to the movies, I did eat some movie popcorn but only a couple handfuls, we also wen to dinner and I was good and only at half my entree, which did fill me up...

The bad part came when we went out that night to see one of our friends who plays in a band. The darn alcohol! I had 5 drinks that night! But I should say the good part is, I've found out it takes a lot less to get me drunk than it used to. I had one beer and 4 glasses of wine over a 6 hour period. Before that would have left me with a littel buzz at the end of the evening. Not Saturday... by the time I went to go home I was pretty much 3 sheets to the wind (don't worry I wasn't driving) So, good news, I found out that my alcohol tolerance has gone down, bad news, I drank too much and didn't work out all weekend! :frown:

I'm a little afraid to get on the scale today and see what damage I did, but, it's Monday and I'm back on track and can't wait to get to the gym today!

OH, I did have some good thing happen this weekend. I had to retire my jeans and put on a pair that I haven't been able to wear in over a year! and even those won't fit me much longer!

Good luck this week everyone! :drinker:

july goal challenge, what is this about?

I started this challenge last week...we all have about 30-40 pounds to lose to hit our goal weight and are setting our challenge to hit it by July. So if you are in the same boat...feel free to join. You can look for our previous posts. "Anyone going to hit goal weight this summer" and "We'll call this July goal challenge" and our first check in last week "July Goal Challenge Feb.4-Feb.10." We post our weight and how we are doing on our exercise goals...etc.

    *Kistinbee*
  • yes, what is the July challenge all about???
  • Thanks! that is exactly where I am at....about 30 lbs. Being part of a group has always been a great help to me.......so I am sure this is just what I need

Awesome! I would look back under the "Motivation and Support" Board and look for our first few posts. They will give you a little idea of what we posted and where a bunch of us are. Then feel free to post under this weeks with all you stats! We're happy to have you on board! And GOOD LUCK!

  • Oh! I'm in the same boat. Last week I was at 165, and this past Saturday I weighed in at 160! I was pretty excited, and am working hard. I guess walking across campus with all of my books does pay off! This little group is awesome, good idea!

well, got on the scale... the damage from the alcohol is done... gained 2lbs....

how is it that one day can put you up two pounds but it takes me a week to lose 2lbs... so unfair!

Well, that'll teach me to go out, drink too much and not work out that day!!!!

Hi guys! Can I join your group? I was originally looking to lose another 40 pounds by my birthday - June 1 - but things have been going a little bit slower than I originally thought. I started at 210 at the beginning of December, and would like to get down to 150-155. So I think that July might be a more reasonable goal!

I went back and read some of the original threads and it sounds like you guys have incredible dedication! I have committed to exercising 5 times a week since the first of the year, and so far I have been doing well - only missed once, and have exercised 6 days several weeks. I have worked up to about an hour of exercise in the morning (workout DVDs), and sometimes I manage add another cardio routine after work as well. I have been eating better, and after plateauing at 198 for 3 weeks, I finally think I have broken through. Thank goodness! I usually weigh in "officially" on Tuesdays (though I step on the scale most days) so I will check in tomorrow with my results - it should be about 15 pounds lost.

    Good luck everyone!
  • I made a bit of a mistake on my numbers.

When we started the July Challenge I was at 182 lbs.
    Last week: 178
    Monday: 177

Total loss since this challenge started: 5 lbs.

Good luck everyone!!! See you next Monday.
  • Good morning all! I am glad to see that everyone is on track and pushing on! I am totally impressed and you all inspire me!

Finishing off my breakfast right now and then I'm off to the gym for a pretty big morning-Tuesdays and Thursdays I am doing my usual Bodypump class and then going to Spin class right after! Last Thursday was the first day I did that combo and I definitely felt it the next day-but it was great!

I don't weight in until tomorrow AM, but I too had a bit of a rough weekend. Went down to Milwaukee for the Food and Froth Fest-need I say more about the way that went? Oh well, right back on track!

I'll check in tomorrow with some good news (hopefully)-Happy Tuesday all!

So...stepped on the scale again today and I'm still up but at 165 rather than 166...I'll take it. Up 2 pounds from last week. :grumble: I know meeting my Valentines Day challenge goal is not going to happen :explode: (the goal was 159) but I'm hoping to get back to the 163 that I was at last week by the end of this week. That is the mini goal I'm setting for myself. I'm been suffering from a bit of a knee injury and haven't been able to put my all into my workouts for the past few days. :grumble: I'm hoping it heals...I talked with a trainer at my gym and she gave me a few exercises to help build up some strength in that area. But I did do 2 hours of cardio last night (as usual) and tonight is BodyPump and Yoga. Hopefully the stretching helps my knee as well. So...I may check in again later this week...I like to see how everyone else is doing (it seems like you are all doing well!) :drinker: So, keep up the good work and I'll check in again soon!!!!

  • Hi, I would like to join the July fitness goal challenge (since Valentine's day is almost here).

    I started at 152 pounds (Jan.8)
I got down to 148 pounds.
    I am now weighing 150 pounds.:grumble:

I would like to weigh 120 -125 pounds by July.

Good luck to everyone. Let's all stay motivated and focused.:flowerforyou:

Officially weighed this morning, and I am down 15 pounds (from December 1)!

Kistinbee, I sympathize with your knee problems - I am starting to hit a point where it is hard for me to work out as hard as I would like due to problems with one of my knees. I have some workout DVDs, but they all tend to be heavy on the squats, lunges, plies, jumping jacks, etc.! I've been getting by with modified versions for now, and am hoping that decreasing my weight and increasing my strength will start to take some of the pressure off. I'd be interested to hear what exercises your trainer recommended for strengthening.

Keep up the good work, everybody (and thanks for letting me join in)!

She told me the best thing is to build up the muscle on top of the knee. So, I sit on the floor, my bad leg stretched out, flexed. The other leg should be bent and crossed over your extended leg like you were doing a back twist. Then work to tighten the muscle above the knee...hold for 10 seconds, then release. You want to make sure you're not pulling from under the knee...only the muscle above the knee. I've been doing it for both legs as it's a good idea to have both sides strengthened. She told me to build it up so that can hold for like 30 seconds without having to think about it too much. This will teach your muscles to subconsciously do it when you are working out. I will report back to you if I learn anything else! Good luck!!

Kistinbee, sorry to hear about your knee. That is tough when all you want to do is workout hard.

Well, I'm in the same boat as you. Up from last week, but I've dropped 1 of the 2lbs I gained from my weekend debauchery. I'm hoping this follows with your theory that after a bad weekend it only takes a couple days to get back down. So, hopefully I'll be back down to 214, maybe by tomorrow.

I'll definitly think twice about going "hog" wild again. Too much work to lose it all over! :)

Thanks. My knee is actually feeling a little better this morning after yoga last night. Maybe it just needed stretched out thouroughly. But I'm continuing with the exercise that the trainer gave me.

Yeah...this morning I'm still at 165. 2 pounds up! I will continue to work hard. I want to get back to 163 by the end of this week. WE CAN DO IT!!!!!

I would like to be a part of the group, or A GROUP, but I will not hit goal by the summer. Can we set A GOAL for loss and exercise for July and still be a part of the group, and what if I only want to weigh once a month between now and then, will that be okay?? I'll be glad to take measurements if that's part of it and write about my experience, strength and hope--for what it's worth.
