I know it's weird to say, but I'd rather be scrawny than curvy like I am now -_-.
I like my curves more than I used to, but still, I hate those darn hip measurements grrrrrr

It's a hip to waist ratio thing to me. You can be overweight and not be curvy (not much difference between hips and waist), or you can not be overweight (or be very thin), and still be curvy (big difference between hips and waist). I've always been curvy, and I thought I was fat because I wore a size 9/10 jeans (and a size small top) in college. At obese and (barely) overweight, I'm still curvy, hips are always wider than the waist, even when my stomach got bigger.
So, I guess I'm one of those girls, but I'm sticking with I'm curvy... even when I get to my goal weight, but hopefully I'll be mature enough to not think I'm fat, now.

I guess it's just based on your opinion on what curvy REALLY means.

Okay. I see. Some people say i'm curvy and some others had the guts to say that i'm fat. So I got confused when people say curvy is a good/bad thing. 37-30-45 are my last measurements. I'm pretty big/curvy. Wish my hips would shrink a bit.

I think I'll consider myself curvy when there is a smooth transition from waist to hips...less of the lumps and bumps, ..though the pears at the store aren't perfect..

I despise the term Curvy. I can't help but see it as just another word for fat. :frown:

I agree...curvy is supposed to mean a perfect hourglass figure a la Marilyn Monroe, until later in her career when she was actually a little chunky. Now it is a euphemism for fat.

Cosmo does a great job of teaching women that they need to buy stuff to make their bodies into something else. If they are "too" curvy, it's weight loss products, if they are "too" skinny, it's clothing and DVDs, and accessories. It's all about the notion of selling a "bad" body image in order to induce the "need" for increased consumerism. Yay capitalism. If you want to see why variation in body type is really what is the "most attractive" check out the immense variation in body types in top female porn actresses. There are curvy stars, skinny stars, etc. That's your best indication of what you should look like-- what you already look like.

well I'm pretty much the definition of hourglass, 37", 28", 38". Love my curves (or whatever you want to call them), just working on firming them all up!

Yeah, you're curvy. At 35-27-37 I am actually too straight up and down. I need a inch or two more in my chest and an inch less in my waist. But those are the proportions I'm stuck with.

    Thin vs curvy vs fat

    VERY VERY CURVY

and if you think THIN is sexier than VERT VERY CURVY then seek an eye doctor and professional help.

Okay, wait. Are you saying the chick on the right is FAT or Very, VERY curvy? She looks great! Very curvy... I think she looks lovely... and not fat. Fat is the first photo.

EDITED TO ADD: I'm not trying to be mean; my belly looks like photo #1's thighs :S

How about we stop comparing bodies and acting like one body type is better than another. All bodies are good bodies.

Woo - someone that thinks the same as me!! Although - I don't get how larger women can be classed as "curvy" and then you get women like Beyonce who are not at all big, and she's classed as "curvy" as well - I really don't get it!!

I'm fat, I know I am, so I don't need it sugar coating and being called "curvy"!!

    I'm curvy and I think I'm fat

I know curvy doesn't mean fat cause skinny girls can have curves as well.. it's genetics but I still feel fat because of my curves :(

I say im curvy cos i have a 10 inch difference between my waist and hips, curvy means you go in and out and that can be true of smaller girls and bigger girls, a lot of people say curvy when they mean overweight or say that slim girls cant be curvy though and it bugs me.

    I'm fat and proud. <3
And it's important to remember that there's no magical dividing line between "curvy" and "fat".

I'd rather look like a shapless 12 year old than be called "curvy." that's a slap in the face
