    Maldivesbeach - PB on toast used to be my standby, but I'm really not fond of the GF bread, so it's out :(

    BumbyDog - Nuts and Raisins are not a bad option - I eat the seeds as snacks all day at work. I found the sausages first thing in the morning turned my stomach (but I was going through a no-meat phase so maybe it's worth trying again). LOL I also knew someone was going to bring up beans. I didn't mention it at the beginning so I didn't seem "picky" but beans are not on my high list of favourites....I barely choke lentils down :)

    Ka97 - I do the greek yogurt (the other stuff just isn't as good LOL) and I could add the protein powder to the oatmeal. I tend to do steel cut oats which are higher in protein anyways.

    MrsWeasley - I actually did the tests about a month ago - waiting to get back in to see the specialist that ordered them. The first round of tests in November came back inconclusive so I was high gluten, low gluten, high gluten and as soon as the test was done, back to low gluten. No matter what the test says, I feel infinitely better off the gluten and my asthma has improved as well which could be a side effect.

    Susieq - OH YUM!!!!! Maybe that's an option.....Maybe making my own sausage kind of thing would help.

    Delikium - that would be a good option, if I didn't take the leftovers for lunch :)

    McBully - I have lots of almond milk - maybe using that instead of water would be a good option.

    Denise - that sounds good :) I haven't done it with berries yet. My favourite smoothie so far is a chocolate powder plus 1 T peanut butter and let it blend for a LONG time. Tastes good!

    Willowcb - I'll have to see if I can get low sugar/no gluten versions!

    ElizabethRoad - Hard boiled eggs have never been a fav of mine (we kids used to drive my Mom crazy not eating them), but lately it's all eggs; scrambled, fried, soft boiled.....there's something about it.

    JCPmoore - sounds like me except I do water or 1% milk. With the Insulin resistance, my system is sensitive to soy.

    Angeliis - good point. I used to have 3 flavours plus do the oatmeal once a week and it wasn't bad. I guess I should probably go and fix myself up :)

    Theartichoke - thanks....there was a pancake recipe on here that I've done a few times with no gluten (it's cream cheese and eggs and a few other things). The problem I found was that I needed syrup....LOL Bad for the blood sugar ;) But I might be able to do the muffin for a light supper....MMMM

    Iva - I do that minus the fruit and honey with the muesli, which has oats and nuts and a few dried raisins. I find that the sugar content goes up too much though.

    Jul - I never thought of putting spinach in the protein shake (I sautee it lightly or eat raw or juice, but never SMOOTHIED). I'll have to try that.

    247Momma - I think the muffins might be tried this coming week - you had me at bacon....

    Dawnm - LOL I swear, I'm truly not a picky eater, but the cottage cheese and I are just not friends. I don't know what it is, but maybe I can encourage my husband to try it when he's working weekends and has that same schedule but I'm not getting up for 3 hours :)

    MystressJones - I do PB really frequently with my shake actually.....Love it!

    Zara - Carrot Cake Protein bar, eh??? I'm hesitant to bake with protein powder (some of the ingredients may not be heat stable), but that sounds like something I have to investigate (can you tell I'm a sucker for desserts?)

    Mercenary - I do my shakes in the Magic Bullet - The shaker does work just as well if I have even less time. I have been known to eat chicken for breakfast too (when I'm completely sick and tired of everything else and we don't have such an early start)

    Lisa - I'll have to see if we can get them here. I, unfortunately, have the opposite problem, I want to eat real food.....all the time (ALL the time :))

    Butterfli70 - sounds very similar to what I do :) I guess I could change up the additions though.

    SirBen - I never thought of that - except I don't do coffee....LOL Bottle of water first thing for me.....I coulud add it to that, but it would make my smoothie :( LOL

    RachelleM - I do that sometimes too :)

    Kath712 - I wish I could eat it, it would give me one more quick thing.

    MaryCM - I'll have to do more research into the heat stability of the protein powders. It would sure open up a bunch of options for me!

    DLWyatt - that's the other type I make (my dessert one is PB and chocolate whey powder)

    Peace Pigeon - I'll have to look out for them - they sound good, but I've never seen them here.

    Sepheara - Lots of people are suggesting it...hmmm. for me, it's a texture thing....I can't get over it. Maybe blended into a drink of some kind...

    Kimdoes - I love the greek yogurt - We don't get Chobani here, but I've been doing the Krema thing for a while. Pretty brand loyal (and that's the only time I am!!!)

    Dbattles - Hmmm...interesting combo. My hubbie will try it for sure and he might let me have a bite...

    Enigmata - I haven't cooked them all the way throuhg in the microwave.....I do chicken for breakfast sometimes, but most of the time, it's on weekends....

    Shar - yeah. That's me too....It's covered here under the regular health care, but I said to the doctor so what do you do if I am and her response "Nothing more than you already are" If you truly feel better, then you're better off not eating it!

    Jamie - Adventurous....What is an egg croissant exactly? Does it have wheat?

    4flamingoz - hmmmm....I wonder if I can make mini cheesecakes (like your pudding); maybe with some blended cottage cheese to up the ante and somehow sweeten it with agave which has a lower glycemic load. That would satisfy my cravings for dessert and get me lots of protein......I'm going to fool around with that this week.

    Volvo - yeah I think I'm going to try some new additions......there are some pretty crazy things floating throuhg my head like bacon......LOL

    Waterbunnie - yeah, I did the oatmeal thing every morning for 6 months. I'm just starting to get back into them. I'd have to cut back on the fruit, but it's not a bad way to go.

    Huskergal - thanks for the suggestion. That's a neat way to do it!

    StephinWa - making the oatmeal with milk is not a bad idea...I wonder how many sugars it would add. So much dairy is loaded with hidden sugars.

    Agbaeb - yeah, I do. I don't tend to do the instant oatmeal as a result, (although I did once this week because I hadn't done the grocery yet for my GF oatmeal and I needed something and since I haven't officially been diagnosed as GI, I went for it)

    Chenry - I hadn't thought of breakfast tacos - I guess I could do them with corn tortillas.....good idea!

    TMpayton - I dont' know the exact brand - I had to be careful to look for no wheat or soy in mine. It's a whey and does about 32g of protein. It's chocolate flavoured and it's almost out. I found that the shaker does have problems with the flavour, but when I use the blender and let it go for about a minute, it tastes much better.

    This sounds like a miserable experience... If you're in a diet where you do not enjoy eating what you are eating, it is going to be the epitome of a diet. Don't expect life long changes through this. (I would never get in bed with a food plan that I have to force down daily and I don't have any enjoyment eating, that depresses me even thinking about it.)

    I'd have to say the opposite, don't expect life long changes through mediocrity.
    Average people do average things and get average results.

    It takes dedication to get the things you want, and I've accepted that. In order to reach my goals I don't always get to enjoy what I eat.

    I make egg muffins. Yes it is still eggs but not as gross as just eggs. I add sausage, cheese and veggies like onions and peppers. I heat them up when I get to work and eat them with salsa. Quite good and filling.

    I do these about 1 week a month. The others I do protein shakes as they are convenient and I am not a big fan of breakfast in the first place.

    Bumping for later. I'm going to post 2 recipes for you in a bit. One is a protein pancake that can be mixed the night before and cooked in the morning. The other is a roasted asparagus and leek egg muffin variation. Both do beautifully for blood sugar problems.

    I adapted this recipe from one created by Joe Ohrablo. You can mix it the night before and cook the next morning.

    1/2 cup- Old Fashioned Oatmeal
    1/2- Banana (mashed or cut into small pieces)
    1- heaping scoop of plain Whey protein powder
    1- Egg white (Another scoop of protein powder can be substituted. Just add 1/8 cup water with it)
    1-Tblsp. Water
    2 -tsp. Almond butter (or peanut)
    1/2 -tsp. Vanilla
    1/4 -tsp. Cinnamon
    1/4- tsp. Salt (optional)
    1- Tblsp. Honey-Either mixed in the batter or drizzled on top once it's done.(I don't use the honey so the totals don't include it)

    Combine banana, powder, egg, butter, vanilla, cinnamon and salt. Mix very well. Add oats and stir. Let sit for 20 minutes so the oats can soften. Heat a pan on Medium and spray with cooking spray or wipe with Canola oil. It will stick like crazy if you don't. Add mixture to the pan and cook until little bubbles start to rise in the middle. Flip and cook about 2 minutes more. The pancake will get a little dark on top but it doesn't taste burnt or bitter.

    This recipe tastes sooo close to banana bread! I eat them plain but I'm sure they'd be wonderful topped any way you'd like!

    Serving size - 1 big huge pancake
    Calories - 346
    Fat - 8g
    Carbs - 44.5g
    Sugar - 12.8g
    Protein - 30.7g
    Fiber - 8g
    Sodium - 276mg (36mg without the salt)


    Egg Muffins - from one of my MFP friends

    1/2 cup leeks - Thinly sliced
    6 asparagus spears - chopped into 1 inch pieces
    3 whole eggs plus 6 egg whites
    1/2 cup low fat Swiss cheese
    a little salt and pepper (to taste)

    Place leeks and asparagus on a cookie sheet and spray with cooking spray, sprinkle with salt and pepper if you'd like. Pop into a 350 degree oven for 7-10 minutes or until they're as roasted as you care for. Remove and allow to cool slightly.
    Mix eggs and whites.
    Add cheese and S&P. Stir.
    Add cooled veggies. Stir.

    Ladle mixture evenly into a muffin tin sprayed with cooking spray.
    Bake at 350 until middles are set. Usually 15 to 20 mins.
    Run a knife around the edges and remove while hot or they stick like mad.
    Cool and wrap in meal size portions.
    Serve between a toasted English muffin (Ezekiel makes a great one available in the frozen section)

    OMG you said banana bread!!!!!! This might be on the menu for Monday since we have a later start!!!!! Do you think we can mix at night and then just cook in the am?

    I get up @ 2:30 to be to work by 4 and I know how icky it is! I also try to limit a lot of sugar and I am on a dr. recommended 80 grams of protein daily.

    For me, my best bet is just 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, but I'm sure others would eat more.

    It's yummy, it doesn't make me 'shaky' in a few hours from carb crash, and 1/2 c has 13 grams of protein. Plus it's easy to eat and not terribly expensive.

    It IS boring :P
