An 8-9 inch banana only has 120 calories, which is less than a tablespoon of butter.

Tips: you will need some kind of liquid, always. Water is easy/cheap/calorie free. Most fruits go fairly well with each other, so try combinations of your favorites. Frozen fruit is a good option if you are not always home to eat fresh stuff before it spoils.

    Recipes:

1 cup milk of your choice (soy, almond, skim, whatever)
    1/3 cup blackberries
    1/3 cup blueberries
    1 kiwi

    1 cup milk of choice
    1/3 cup strawberries
    1/3 cup blueberries
    1 mango

    1 cup water
    1/2 cup greek yogurt
    1/2 cup peaches
    1/3 cup raspberries

I like this...but I would add protein to them...Like Crystal Farms liquid egg whites or Protein mix....... and/or cottage chese and/or greek yogurt...

Smoothie base, doesn't need anything added:
    1 cup each:
    liquid
    frozen fruit
    plain yogurt

Then add any or all of these if you want to get crazy
    1 scoop protein powder
1-2 T wheat germ / oat bran / psyllium husk / other hippie *kitten*
    handful of spinach
    1 t cinnamon
    banana
    1 T coconut oil
    canned pineapple
honey / maple syrup / stevia

I buy bananas, let them get squishy, then peel them, halve them, and freeze them so I can use them regularly, otherwise I'm sure I don't get enough potassium.

I put in 2 cups OJ, 1 cup frozen strawberries, 1/2-1 c frozen mixed berries, and a banana. Blend well and add a few ice cubes if needed for consistency before blending again. You can even add 1/2 c plain yogurt for a bit of protein & calcium. Mmmmmmm. (Oh, this makes about 3-4 cups, enough for at least 3 people, usually)

some sort of liquid, (water or milk is what I go with--but juice works too) 4-8oz
frozen berries or fruit 1-2 cups
    protein powder 1-2 scoops
    ice, yogurt or sherbert

    My favorite

1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder
    6oz water
1 cup Safeway/Dominick's unsweetened Dark Cherries
    (yogurt optional)

    Tastes like Cherries Garcia. MmmmMMM

When you buy your fresh fruit, if you don't use it all, freeze it in baggies and use the frozen fruit as your "ice".... and I love greek yogurt in mine :)

Oh and another one when I am craving something sweet:

chocolate soy milk (or almond milk)
    peanut butter
    banana

I freeze the banana so that I don't have a watered down smoothie....

sometimes I add cinnamon to it too!! and here is a link for some more :)

i do what most everyone here has said, but i also add a 1/4 tsp or so or sugar free jello pudding (mix only)...it is a great thickener and adds even more flavor -

banana with sugar free chocolate pudding
frozen blueberries with sugar free white chocolate cheesecake
strawberries with sugar free banana cream pudding
peanut butter with sugar free butterscotch pudding

you can add just about anything!

    enjoy!

This is my favorite for when I'm craving something sweet, but don't want to give into ice cream. Sometimes I'll eat it as lunch, and it is very filling!

1 bag frozen mixed berries (or whatever frozen fruit you like)
12 ounces vanilla yogurt (I use Kroger's Carbmaster, but Greek would be great if you're using it as a meal substitute!)
    1 cup skim milk

Blend until smooth, may need to be stirred a couple times.

Makes 2 HUGE (seriously, like 20 oz) smoothies. 223 calories each, 2 fat, 14 protein.
