Chevy vs Ford - Argue your point

Dodge Ram for me would be #1 (Hemi). #2 would be Chevy Silverado, and #3 would be Ford F-1500

My personal vehicle is a Ford truck. Love it. Don't have any comparison to Chevy though.
With cars, I drive a ton of different rental cars, generally from American or Asian companies as part of my job. Generally only care for Ford, Mazda (specifically the Mazda 3), and Hyundai for cars. The Chevy's I have gotten, especially the Impalas and Cruze's have just sucked. The stretch of 3 Cruze's in a row was particularly annoying.0 -
The fact is you're never going to get a good answer...my thought? There probably isn't much difference...if you're car shopping get the one you like best.
When I bought my car I test drove a 2008 Chevy Aveo, a 2008 Ford Fusion, and a 2009 Ford Focus. I liked the Aveo...I loved the Fusion but it was kind of beat up...and then I drove the Focus and decided right then it was the car I wanted. That was over 2 years ago and I still love it. I haven't had to do any repairs...I get great gas mileage...it's comfortable.0 -
I'd rather push a chevy than drive a FORD. I've NEVER owned a Ford that didn't break down & leave me stranded somewhere. For me, a chev will at least hobble to a mechanic or safety.
FORD = Found on Road Dead - Fix or Repair Daily0 -
Both!
I have a 1966 Ford Mustang and it's just about the sexiest thing in the world. I also have a 1995 Chevy S10 as a daily driver. It just keeps going and going.
I don't have an opinion about new cars, but I wouldn't kick a Tesla out of bed...0 -
My philosophy is that as all cars and trucks are "man" made so it's all a crap shoot if you get a great one or a lemon. One year brand X may be more reliable, the following it may be less. If you think about it, it all boils down to what we currently like and/or are looking for in a truck or car and all the rest is good maintenance and luck. I've had several Ford's, several Nissan's (Datsun) and a few Toyota's. No GM/Chevy yet but if someone would give me the keys to a 1957 Chevy Bel Air 2-door hard top in primo condition.... LOL! Here's my current "ride's" showing their colors...
2012 Ford F-150 Platinum
2008 Honda GL1800 GoldWing0 -
Neither. Toyota. I have put my Lexus through hell, and it's still running great, almost like new, after 180K miles. If I keep this car it will easily reach 300K miles without issue as long as routine maintenance is done. And it won't fall apart by rusting out from under me. lol
Or Honda, perhaps even better than Toyota. My friend has a Honda of which he is the second owner, but it passed to him from his father, and it has almost 350K miles on it and neither he nor his father has ever had to do anything major to it. Another friend has a Nissan and it's almost to the 300K miles mark and hasn't had any major issues either. Meanwhile, EVERY person I know who has owned a US-made vehicle with a US-made engine has had some kind of catastrophic failure well before 300K miles, some even before 150K miles.
Foreign auto is the way to go. Domestic US crap is crap. :flowerforyou:0 -
Who do you know wants to buy a Ford?
Ford is my livelyhood, but I own a Chevy (its been a great truck too!)0 -

Chevy. Because I have had my car for 15 years (I am the 2nd owner), it has 200,500 miles and the engine still runs like it is new! Proper maintenance helps too no matter what the make.
I have a Ford.....just shy of 248,.000 and I'm the1st owner....still runs like a dream. So true.....maintenance is the key.
Edited to add: 1997 Ford Escort Sport0 -
Here's mine. So far, so good (after owning nothing but Honda/Acura products for the 10 years previous):

If I only had a choice between both I'd choose a Chevy. The only car that I would buy would be a Corvette since all the other Chevy cars don't even look great (except the camaro) We have a cavalier that has been very reliable at 200k+ which surprises me because it's a domestic  . But then again the Honda Civic had less problems in the past. Next car would be German0

Neither.... Toyota.....
Agreed. I work for a GM dealer. 98% of the parts on our products are produced OUTSIDE of the United States. I also worked for a Toyota/Subaru dealer. ALL of their parts are manufactured in the US AND they are ALL assembled in the US. I hear arguments like "yeah, well all the money goes to Japan". Um, so where do you think the money goes when we are manufacturing all parts outside of the US?
TOYOTA all the way for me. And yes, I get given crap from my co-workers. Don't care.0 -
Considering a drove a Taurus to nearly 200,000 miles and it was in good working condition then, I'm ok with ford.
However, I've had similar experiences with Chevy/
I'll take which one I can get a good deal on.

My 2001 Taurus has 234k on it...and other than replacing the cats...has had no issues and runs great. I've mostly kept it so that my daughter has a reliable vehicle once she starts driving in high school.
On top of that...and even if it didn't run perfectly...at least the damn door handles still work.0 -

We have 4 GM vehicles currently, does that answer your question?0

I love my Chevrolet Trailblazer SS. With it's 6.0LS
I've owned one Ford F-150. Never Again.
I'm a Chevrolet girl all the way.0 -
I love mustangs(especially the old fox body) but i feel like chevys are built to handle more. I drive a chevy geo metro and have owned it for 6 years and have wrecked it a few times and it still runs great. Before that I drove a chevy malibu and it saved my life in an accident so I will always love those too. The only ford I owned was a 97 ford tempo and it was crap...i literally drove the wheels off of it.0

Ford.
Bowties are for little boys.0 -
Both!
My favorite "non-mommy" car was my Mustang. My favorite "mommy" car was my Malibu.0 -
Ford for trucks, but I love my Camaro, so I have to say Chevy for cars. When we were shopping for a car we test drove both the Mustang GT and the Camaro SS. My Ford loyal and former Mustang owning husband had to admit that the SS was the better of the two.0

My 2.0 4cyl Chevy eats Mustangs and is still hungry!0
