A wise friend of mine once told me, they don't trust hippy dippy happy flattery. Me, neither.
Want to know if you've got a keeper. Here's the smoke signal. They don't do that. They dig deep for your greater qualities
and none of them have anything to do with your looks. Looks fade and so do feelings but integrity lasts.
If it's getting serious, their family will take a good hard look at you. Face-to-face. They will look you
directly in the eye and want to know about your people. Who are you. They're going to observe your actions at all
times. Brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins and the kids. Kids have few filters.
If you're blowin' smoke, they will throw you back into the wood pile. You're a goner. Flattery and good looks don't
spell much when you're looking at forever down the line.

This strikes home. My MIL wanted me gone, she didn't want her son to marry me. I now understand that she was afraid that I'd leave him, take the kids with me, and break his heart. She only knew Americans through soap operas (which she loved and watched everyday). She was also frustrated because she couldn't interrogate me about my family, because I didn't speak Italian at the time, and she didn't speak English. She came to love me like a daughter and she did a lot for me. I miss her. I try to honor her memory.1 -

@Cat0703a I fancy you as a cyber pro. Top of the heap. Cream of the crop. Our 6 pm news came on and now everyone is all jacked UP. Catch my continental drift. My gut tells me it ain't gonna happen and I told them to calm down. I have complete trust in the pros I know to handle anything and everything. I don't believe it. Tell me I'm right. If you can't say anything then sing me a song.1
