Funny train story. My Mom grew up in a small town in Northern Minnesota. Train tracks went right through the middle of town. She was the oldest of the girls. One day her Dad was out in the country driving home with one of her little sisters in one of those Packers probably in the 30's. They were driving on a dirt road right next to the train tracks. They heard the whistle blow--a train was steaming up behind them. Grandpa floored it and got the car up to top speed. He raced the train to the crossing and shot over just before the train flew by, laughing. My aunt was screaming in terror. Poor kid.

Mom had 9 brothers and sisters. Grandpa was always mild mannered and balding when I knew him. Didn't seem like the type to do that. My Mom's family were laughers and talkers. Dad's family--also 10 kids, were serious and subdued.
