It's not going to come off overnight. Maybe try setting a small goal first like 20 lbs by september or whatever you think is doable. This is so worth it! Please don't give up.

Don't give up Todd!! I felt the same way you did when I started a couple of weeks ago. It takes time. I have lost 3 lbs in 2 weeks. Would I like to see it come off faster? Absolutely! But, I have done the diets where you lost 5-10 lbs per week consistently and, guess what? I gained it all back!!!

I promise you it will be worth it!

    Blessings!

    dont give up!

keep in mind that it takes 3-4 weeks to create a habit. until then you have to always think about what you're doing and why you're doing it and force yourself to do it if necessary . after a month of that it'll be less of a struggle. just think of the you a month from now cheering you on to reach him there. then once you reach him, think of the you 3 months from now cheering you on from there, etc visualize that until you see the goal you cheering you on.

    you can do this!

Instead of thinking about what's hard or what you can't do, think about what you can do. Can you walk for 10 minutes on your lunch break? Great, then do it. Can you do 25 squats every night while you watch your favorite show? Sure you can! Why not try it tonight. Like some of the others have said, small changes will add up quickly. Try and think of three small things you can do everyday for the next week. Commit to it and after the first week it will already seem easier. You just need a little momentum and once you start it's hard to stop.

Here is another thing you can do today- go online and look for healthier ways to prepare some of your favorite meals. Even if you don't like cooking now is a great time to start. You learn a lot about food by preparing it, plus it's cheaper than eating out and you feel more satisfied eating something you cooked.

Most importantly don't forget why you are doing this! When you feel down, remind yourself why you want to be healthy. Don't be too hard on yourself and try to think about all the good things you are working towards- being healthier, stronger, etc., etc.

Oh, and one more thing, since you are new you probably don't have many MFP friends yet. Go on the "Introduce Yourself" board and try and find friends with similar goals with similar body types. Having a friend who can sympathize with you makes a BIG difference.

took me two years to lose 80 lbs and i had my fair share of ups and downs..dont lose faith in yourself and keep talking to us who have been there and done that with giving up. last two months were extremely hard on me and i even gained some weight back..difference for me this time was that i didnt beat myself up over it and just got back on track again.

if you can afford it go to a gym and try to work with a trainer or join a class there so you can start moving ..either that or just walk at least a half hour a day . it will definitely make a difference ..

You just started this month. It is a process and a long one. You can't just sit on your hands and have years of weight gain just melt away. It's hard work, but it is all worth it in the end. After checking out your profile, I would like to recommend some intensive therapy. It does help, and it is not a bad thing to seek it out.

I will tell you what I have been telling myself all this time. This is a bump in the road. There will be many bumps in the road. Sometimes they are little and just make you trip, some are big and make you have to climb over them to get back on the path. You cannot sit down and give up, because the road is long and there are many wonderous things waiting for you. Get up, brush yourself off, give the rock a good kick for getting in your way, then put it behind you and never look back, after all the view of where you are going is much better than where you have been.

    Todd,

Don't give up. It is hard, it is frustrating, and changes won't happen overnight. Just take it one day at a time and make small changes as you are able. Remember, you are changing your life for the better and you have to relearn everything that you thought you knew about food and exercise. Keep logging in each day and use the forums for support. Add some friends and remember we are all here for the same reason.

You can totally do this! I support you!!

Hi Todd...may I ask how long you have been doing your program? Perhaps going into the success stories thread?...that always gets me re-motivated. There are a lot of people on this site who have quite a bit to lose ( and have ) so don't give up.

I didn't read what everyone else has replied, so i'm sure I will repeat what someone else has already said but from my experience there are some really sweet, helpful, motivating, knowledgeable people on here so it's ok. What I try to remember is that I didn't get as large as I am overnight. It took a while to get where i'm at and it will take a while to get back to where I want to be. In the end, it will be worth it. You have to set small goals. I want/need to lose over 200 lbs. Im setting my first goal at 75 lbs. Once I reach that (and I WILL!), I will set another goal. I have been struggling and discouraged lately too. I feel like i'm working so hard and getting no where. We all have to work to figure out what is best for us. My problem is that i'm now eating too few calories! Crazy, right?! The point is, its going to be a long process. If you stick with it, you will be rewarded in the end. Nothing worth having is easy to obtain.

You can do this! WE can do this!

Best of luck to you :)

    Todd,

Don't get down or give up. Just remember why you joined MFP and why you want to lose the weight. Also remember that the weight did not appear overnight and will not go away overnight. We live in a society that wants the instant fix but, keep working hard and be mindful of what you take in food wise and it will happen for you. When that first pound or two is shed and the scale shows it you will be pumped up beyond belief. I have been here since Feb and have lost 13 pounds and I LOVE to EAT !! Keep you chin up, alot of people here will help you on the journey.

Hey bro. Don't give up! You can do it. Small goals is the best way to get started. Don't look at the end goal as a specific weight or looking a specific way. The end goal for all of us is really the same ... or it should be - to work every day to be healthier than the previous. ... Ick ... I stated it like crap, but you get the idea. Just focus on improving each week. try to set a new goal each week. It doesn't have to be a weight goal. It could be a performance goal ... increase distance, decrease time, increase number of reps, etc.

Feel free to add me. If you find yourself needing more immediate support, let me know and I'll give you my email, cell, etc. Just don't give up on yourself!

Im in the same boat.. really struggling. My head knows what has to be done.. but something in me just wants to eat dern it.. lol But we have to hang in there, take one small goal at a time, one foot in front of the other .. (and aim it away from the fridge lol) A big part of my problem is I am impatient, and I easily get over whelmed. But we have to do this to be healier.. So hang in there , add me as a friend if youd like. I need all the support I can get too..
