I like to crush the Special K into crumbs, add some garlic & herbs, roll chicken breast strips in it and fry in a little EVOO. Lite-lite-lite & good. Almost like real fried chicken.

Save calories on the Chicken and I have room left for the beer. Guinness, extra dark. You gotta live a little. :drinker:

Well, you know, we all gotta go sometime, and the vanilla almond special k has been a big part of my success. Rather than hubby and I sitting down a couple of nights a week in front of the tv with a value sized bag of potato chips and FINISHING it! :noway: I now have a cup of special k, and he has his sunflower seeds. We're both healthier for it, HFCS or no. :drinker:

I'm all for everyone helping each other out with information, it's what makes this site so great! But when someoen is making a much healthier decision then before, eating something that is better for them, whether or not it's the perfect food shouldn't we be encuraging them instead of telling them what they are eating is evil?

Fresh fruit, fresh veggies, single servings of almonds, walnuts, whole grains, oatmeal, all of these are good for you. There is little to be found wrong with any of these, assuming they aren't processed versions, such as instant oatmeal, fruit snacks, etc.

I'm glad you have moved away from really junky snacks. I too used to eat up Special K, and Honey Bunches of Oats, etc. until I started reading the labels. I'm in the middle of farm country here, and I still don't think there is anything redeeming about HFCS. Heck, I'll even pick a full-fat, full-calorie, made-from-scratch baked good over something with HFCS.

I can not in GOOD conscious encourage someone to eat something that contains something as bad as HFCS. I am sorry, there is nothing good about it. So, in essence, by not label reading on your own, you are falling victim to the food manufacturers and saying it is ok to poison me.............Go ahead and keep doing it because I will continue to purchase the poison anyway.............

If she said she was eating full fat organic yogurt with a hand ful of organic home made granola and a handful of berries................I would encourage this, because it is natural................

I will not encourage someone to eat a chemical soup.

High Fructose Corn Syrup if BAD, BAD, BAD for you, even in the smallest amounts..............It is not that far down on the list, so there is a LOT of it in the cereal.

Food manufacturers use that stuff because it is cheap, but it is poison..............

You all can eat what you want, I just think a website that is geared toward a healthier lifestyle would have more members that think of such............

I eat 2100 a day. 1900 of them are good, 200 are crap. I've been dropping 1-1/2 to 2 pounds a week for a long time, and I feel like a million bux. My blood pressure is 110/65, my pulse is 60, my labs are very-very good.

Most of us don't live in trees. We shop at Kroger 'cause that's where the food is. I take reasonable steps to eat pretty well and to take pretty good care of myself. Ya', I probably eat a little corn sweetener once in a while. Might get a little MSG in my Beef&broccoli too. These aren't staples of my diet, and I don't believe a little bit of much of anything can hurt me.

To each his own, I guess. I was only trying to help.

I shop at my Neighborhood Coop, the farmer down the road from me and another farmer down the road in the opposite direction...........Saturday morning farmers market.

I just think that when someone is making an effort to make better choices and you tell them they are eating "chemical soup" it might deter them from making more changes. They might be tempeted to think oh forget it, I'll never be able to eat perfectly so why do I even bother. People on this jurney can be pretty sensitve and I think it's our job to build them up not knock them down. Just my opinion.

You know, there's a nicer way to get your point across. You can't shove clean eating down a person's throat. We're all working toward being healthy, but not all of us can do it all in one big step forward. I'm sure most of us have heard the drama about HFCS, but you're pretty much equating it to cyanide.

I hit the farmers' markets too. I know several of the farmers, and my fosterkid is picking 'taters right now.

I play this thing by the 95% rule. I try to make 95% or more of what I eat good healthy whole-food stuff. Fresh fruits'n'veggies, raw grains, lean meats (organic/local/anti-B free if available).

On the other hand I realize that I'm an American and I have to take in 12 grams per day of chemicals with polysyllabic names or I will die. My Twinkie addiction pretty much takes care of this, Hehehehe..

people on this site are way to sensitive to words on a computer screen.............

You know I'm on another board as well, and yes people can be all tough, but even there I dont' see the point. On a board like this we are here to encurage each other, support one another and yes pass along knowledge if we have it.
But there is NEVER a need to make someone feel like they are doing a horrible thing to themselves by eating a bowl of Special K! I appreciate your knowladge but you don't need to come accross as all high and mighty, relalize your words affect people.

I've been online long enough to know what people are like on the net. I'm not overly sensitive, I just get annoyed by obnoxious people. Not that you are. I was the same way when I first became vegetarian- you feel so strongly about what you're doing, you have to let everyone know, but I learned quickly that people do not want your beliefs rammed down their throats. It's not about being oversensitive, it's about being respected and not being treated like a misbehaving child because you want a cookie made with HFCS or a cup of fried rice with MSG.
