    my naturopath

    this explains a lot

    Yeah.

    I can't stress this enough.....

    TAKE ANTIBIOTICS!!!!!!!! don't starve yourself.

Candida (the fungus) would not respond to antibiotics. It's a fungus, not a bacteria. In fact, antibiotics make it flourish and the increase in candida can lead to yeast infections and candidemia.

Candida (the condition) is supposedly caused by candida (the fungus) getting into other areas of the body and causing any number of other issues, ranging from sore gums to flatulence. However, candida (the condition) is only recognized by certain alternative medicine practitioners. Take that for what you will - a massive cover-up of the huge amounts of scientific evidence of the existence of candida (the condition) combined with an incredible talent of a series of independent practitioners to accurately diagnose it based solely on a wide range of unrelated symptoms, or the simpler explanation which involves the kind of sound ducks make.

I think you need a second opinion. This whole thing sounds ridiculous.

Also, antibiotics will cause an increase in candida population, that's why women typically get yeast infections (i.e. candida vaginitis) while taking them.

Nystatin is a decent treatment. It's a prescription anti-fungal drug that doesn't interfere (read: kill) with good intestinal flora. You still need to follow the diet, but it generally takes less time and clears the candida more completely. Also be sure you are taking a STRONG probiotic, I recommend VSL3, or Ultimate Flora Critical Care. Without proper treatment you could be fighting this for years. It's frustrating and takes time, but stick with it, you will feel SO MUCH BETTER.

Right on! thanks for the advice. I'll look into those probiotics. i heard that if the probiotic is a fridgerated brand, it is better than a shelf brand... so at least i got that base covered. I definitely have a lot more research to do. I already feel much better after a few days, i can't wait to see how i'll feel in a few months!

I suffered with chronic yeast/candida infections for almost five years and after listening to the doctor, nutritionist and endless internet searches I finally found something that worked. It's called Threelac, it's a probiotic. I did two rounds of the treatment and it killed all of the "bad" bacteria without going on a restricted diet. I haven't had a yeast problem since. Check it out:

So for the last 5 years I've been convinced I have a gluten intolerance and have been struggling to manage that, make myself feel better, and loose weight. Finally my naturopath talked me into taking an offical food allergy blood test and I have to say, the results blew me away! :noway: :noway:

Turns out I'm only officially allergic to whey, bakers yeast, egg whites, and pecans, not gluten at all! :drinker: Good news. But the bad news was that Candida has taken over my intestines and blood stream. Le sigh! So doc and I did a tone of research and determined in order to kill off the abnormal candida in my system, I have to starve it for minimum of 3 months. The buggar feeds of sugar, so for the next three months, I have to completely eliminate everything that converts into a sugar in my body, or promotes the bacteria to grow more.

    This mean no:
sugar or anything with a "...cose" in the ingretient list, including sauces, dressings, jucies, etc.
alcohol :brokenheart: :brokenheart: :frown:
    fruit
    bread
    pasta
    cheese
    mushroom
    mercury
    grains

In order for this to work, i have to practise 100% exemption!

soooo, that leaves me with most vegatables, protein, nuts, and some beans and yeast/wheat free gains. :indifferent:

Anyways, I've been researching tips, tricks, and recipes for making this easier and posting them all on my pinterest board if anyone else is interested. I figure if doing this properly doesn't make me feel like a million bucks, nothing will!

Anyone else done a blood food allergy test and been surprised by results?
Anyone else had success with a candida diet? any recommended supplements?

    Wish me luck! :):flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

I am allergic to all those same things but yeast .. also if you were gluten free for a few months before you went then it could not show up on test ....

I was given a similar diagnosis a few years ago and also tested negative for a gluten allergy. I tried reintroducing wheat (while I was on a trip overseas, where the wheat is apparently less processed). I travel to that particular country all the time, and decided to brave eating pizza. That didn't work out to well for me, since I had a horrible reaction (the kind I used to get with wheat) and was in the doctor's office the day after I got back home.

If you're going back to eating gluten, it might be a good idea to keep an eye out for symptoms of a sensitivity all the same. I was told that if you've been living gluten-free for the last 5 years, it's entirely possible to have a false negative on the gluten test. Hope you feel better regardless of what's going on in your gut.

2nd opinions are always a good idea.

I'm not going any antibiotics, I'm only taking probiotics and liver SAP's with some anti-candida powders.

I am not a doctor but I am a biochemist. I have had some issues regarding yeast so I too did quite a bit of research on this.
First I want to say - I really think the whole candida systemic infection is a load of crap. The reason I say this is because I have done a lot of work in the pharmaceutical industry. And they will throw money at any study if they think there is a chance to increase indications for medications. And yet as much as they would love to prove systemic yeast infections they can not.
Second if you have allergies they probably have very little to do with the amount of yeast in your body.
You didn't specify what you think this yeast is doing to you. Is the problem digestive or vaginal? Either way a treatment like diflucan can eliminate the yeast. It wont hurt you cut back on bread and sugar but these are only small factors IMHO.
Adding a probiotic can also help.
If the problem is vaginal it is due to something creating an alkaline environment. This can come from oral contraceptives, sperm and other soaps. And can be aggravated by non-cotton underwear as well as douching. The best thing you can do for this is boric acid pills. DONT EAT THEM. You insert them vaginally.
Please get a second opinion but your family physician or ob/gyne prior to taking on a drastic diet change.
PM me if you want more info.

i imagine the body takes a while to get use to reintroducing foods. that sucks that it was so difficult for you! i doubt i'll be bringing in wheat anytime soon, maybe in a year or so if i get this thing sorted out first. thanks for the support!

    I love that answer.

Any FYI, you cannot have a Candida outbreak that's taking over your bloodstream. Fungal growth is not something that should be hanging out anywhere in or on your body, and normally doesn't, because it's controlled by the growth of beneficial bacteria. You could have issues with a chronic fungal issue in your intestine due to an absence of good bacteria competing for resources, but if you really had a fungal infection in your bloodstream, that's not just an "Oh, crap, I need to take some vitamins and probiotics that my homeopathic doctor recommended" kind of bad; it's "Holy crap, all my organs are shutting down because I've got a chronic septic infection" kind of bad.

It's an intestional issue, not vaginal. and i'm also not spending any money on any products, so no one is benefiting from my diet theories, just trying different probiotics (on my own accord) and meal ideas.
    thansk for the feedback though!

I was soooooooo sick in 2010 and made many trips to the ER and to doctors, but they couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. Long story short they had me on medz that made the candida worse

I found a mid-wifery/LPN who made me get tested for allergies and for candida. Found out I'm allergic to wheat and had such a high level of candida that she has only ever seen one person worse than me. I had to take diflucan and go on a low carb diet for a month to kill off the candida.

But I'm doing pretty good now and I can eat fruit and sweets and non-wheat pasta & grains. Although I'm trying to be good with the sweets because I am trying to lose weight.

    Good luck!!!!:flowerforyou:
