When should I log the exercise?

I exercise during the night, because that's what I feel comfortable with. Which means that I mostly exercise after the time I've set as my do not eat after (which is 8pm). However, therein lies the problem that I'll suddenly be getting calories to eat back after I've stopped eating for the day. Since a lot of it is clocked in after midnight of the exercise, should I count them towards my next day?

Not eating after exercise may not be the best thing because you need to take in good carbs and protein to help build/maintain the muscle you just worked and to help burn more calories. I'm sure any 24-hr period that you define as your "day" will work fine as long as your are consistent about it.

I normally work on a day being from when I get up to when I go to bed no matter what time that is.

I workout at night and generally have a schedule, so I know ahead of time what I'm doing. I add my exercise during the day because there is just no way I want to eat 300+ calories at 11:00 PM. There are still days where I leave a bunch of calories on the table, but I usually use them up one of the other days.

My problem is that I do not want to exercise during the day with loads of other people in my house. I've tried that before, and all it's lead to is rude comments. However, I know that it's bad for me to eat right before I go to bed, too. But if I log them for that day, I'm going to have a lot more calories in deficit than I want. Which is where the problem is.

Log them early and eat your calories. I usually only save enough for a post-workout protein shake.
