40 calorie tortilla

made these tonight in bulk (12 tortillas) and they were super yummy! unfortunately they were a little too small for what I needed them for (enchiladas) so I ended up buying some for dinner. But I think these are perfect for a little snack wrap or lunch.0

I made these the other day to test them out.. needed to add just a tiny bit more water to keep them from being crumbly.
that being said they were awsome! I used them to wrap up my own eggy borrito. used one as a sandwich wrap. I rolled them out nice and think so they were the size of the small flour torillas you find in a store but so much fresher and way less calories!!
Tonight we are making turkey tacos, so making a nice batch of these for the whole family! Thank you for sharing!
(although when i plug this recipe in i get it at 50 calories so Im wondering which flour the original recipe calls for anyone know?)0 -

Combine all ingredients into a bowl and mix. Dough should combine in to a single ball. If this doesn’t happen, add a little more water incrementally until it does.
Cover the dough with a wet towel or cloth for ~15 minutes.
Split dough into two balls. Roll into round shapes.
Flour the counter.
Take each ball and roll out into a very flat circle.
Take each circle and place onto an ungreased skillet.
Cook over medium heat until tortilla starts to show brown spots.

I'll have to try this. On my last tortilla and not going to the store till the weekend.0

I don't see how this is accurate. What kind of flour did you use to get your figures? Most flours are 100-110 cal for 1/4 cup so half of that for one tortilla would be 50 or 55, wouldn't it?0
-
I was wondering about the calories as well as the amount of water. I went looking for the tablespoon equivalent of 0.5 oz, which would be 1 tablespoon.
This weekend I picked up some La Tortilla Factory whole wheat, low-carb tortillas, which are 50 calories apiece. They are pretty good! Will try this recipe and also look for the low-carb/cal tortillas at Trader Joe's that have been mentioned on here.0 -
Aren't they at least 50 calories each?? 1/4 cup of flour = 100 calories...
That depends on the flour you use there are lower calorie flours availabile like Sunflower Seed Flower is only 209 Calories for a cup but wheat or white flours are about 400 a cup0 -

I finally got around to making these today for my lunch. Advice to anyone who makes these, you need to weigh your flour instead of just measuring. My level 1/4 cup of flour (I used all purpose) weighed 37 grams, for a total of 131 calories. One serving of flour, at 110 calories, is only 31 grams. My tortillas came out to 65 calories each. So, if you're really tracking your calories, you need to weigh instead of relying on measurement alone or you're going to be underestimating your calorie intake. They were delicious, btw. :bigsmile:0
