Who's working today?

I work on a military base and all the military folks have a down day so only the civilians are left. We were"eccouraged" to take leave but I'm not burning a vacation day when its 50, windy and raining. Out of 60 civilians, there are only 6 of us here. So I'm going to sit here all day and surf MFP.

Why are you at work today before this Holiday in the US?

    I'm in the military, and stuck at work... not to mention OUR civilians didn't do their job, so today is going to be a late day, since they don't have to pay us overtime. Hoorah!

    Because I work in a hospital and we never close! :( But I do have a 3 day weekend!!

    I work at a funeral home and dead people can be so inconsiderate what with dying any old time they please. Someone has to be here in case we get a call....and since I don't get vacay pay, it's a no brainer. I got Monday off though!

    I'm just here to surf MFP, lol. I'm right there with you. Why skip the days when there's nothing going on? Wait and take vacation on a day that's gonna suck, lol.

    I not only am working today, but also on Monday. The only holidays we get are New Years Day, 4th of July (but we have the option to work that day and have an extra vacation day to use later), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. It's cool when New Years and Christmas are on weekends because we get an extra day during the week, but otherwise that's it.

    I work in the beer business--holidays are our busiest days!

    I'm a daycare provider, so holidays are my busy time since the kids are off from school. 10 hour day for me.

    I'm working today too! But we get off early today.
    I work in the property management industry and as long as there are vacancies we are working!

    I'm here for a 1/2 day. Didn't want to take an entire day since I've only been here for 6 months (and already had a week of vacation in February).

    I'm in the office....actually there are quite a few of us here. Now, if we are actually working...the jury is still out on that.

    I'm in my office at my desk but I really can't say I'm working :wink: Seriously though, within the hour people will start drifting out the door but I and one other person will be here till 5pm.

    I work from home - so today...am in my pjs on the couch with the dog. Have been on MFP since I got up.

    I'll start working at some point before my massage at 1. It's a hard, hard, life this Friday before a long weekend!

    I'm at the office but "not really working". I didn't want to take the day off for a day that means come late and leave early.
    My building is pretty deserted. I got in around 9 and plan on leaving around 2.
    Working from home was not an option since I didn't take the laptop with me yesterday.

    I don't want to burn leave either I am thinking it will be a 59 minute rule day..at least here is hoping. :)

    My school district is open today, so I'm substitute teaching, aka babysitting 12th graders who just have time to kill before graduation.

    Working two of the three days this weekend!
    I am not taking vacation days because it is not a vacation for me. I work two jobs and when one is closed I just hop on the other one and put in hours there.
    My actual vacation starts next Friday :D

    I agree with some of the others . . . "working" just because I didn't have reason to burn a vacation day today. I haven't accomplished much since I got here and don't expect that to really change. Counting down to my 3 day weekend though :)
