Thoughts on Mio?

What do you think of it? I drink double the amount of water since I bought it :] I mix of plain through out the day and some mio when I need some flavor. Makes my sweet tooth go away too!

What do you guys think? Yay or nay?

I thought it would be great for when i was sick of water after 12-15 cups, but, doesn't like my stomach and the fact its a chemical, i skip it and stick to lemon or lime in my water, or even cucmber slices are good.
  • If you are sensitive I understand!

But whats the problem with it being a chemical? Is it a bad one?

Apparently, its got something to do with Chlorine. i am not sure, i know if my tummy didn't dislike it so much, i would have it occassionally, but not often as it is artificial.

I LOVE MIO but I got some crybaby teeth and the sugar sweetness actually hurts my teeth after awhile I can't even drink the stuff.
Definitely not for me but I did love the taste.

I really like it :) Doesn't give me headaches the way that some other drink flavorings do.

If it agrees with your system and you use it in moderation, great! Artificial flavors, though, aren't great for your system (they mess with your metabolism as well as your body's digestive process, etc.) and so should be used minimally.

I use it when I get sick of water. Usually a glass or two of it a month. I think it tastes decent.

I think it tastes like crap. Crystal light is much better.

I like the strawberry flavor. I drink it when its super hot and I know I should hydrate extra. However, it is SUPER sweet. I don't drink pop at all. All you need is like a quick squirt and you have enough, so you can dilute it as you please. One bottle is supposed to be 24 servings or something.

Mio rules! My wife and I use it all the time. I have two bottles of it right here on my desk at work, and there are several in the cabinet at home.

There is no chlorine in Mio, so I'm not sure what the poster further above is talking about.

Mil is made out of potroleum based chemicals and has recently been under investigation for possibly skirting the full testing phase on the chemicals used. I would recommend squeezing a lemon or orange into your water or soaking cucumbers. Tasty and natural

It isn't something I would spend money on, but if it helps wean people away from pop and perhaps toward water with no flavoring at all, I think that's pretty cool.

    1) This is not true.
    2) Even if it was, the amount of Mio you use in a glass of water is not enough to affect anything about your digestive system.

I live on Crystal Light...it's the way I stay hydrated.

I thought I'd love Mio, and they had a Watermelon flavor. I <3 watermelon, but my god that stuff was terrible. Into the trash it went :(

Source please. I find nothing on the internet saying Kraft (maker of Mio) is under investigation for any such thing.

Edit: Also, petroleum based chemicals? What are you on about? Quit making up FUD.

I use the Walmart Brand and love it! I am not a fan of plain water.

I got the berry pomegranate flavor and it's okay. I used it twice and haven't used it for a few days now. I guess I just prefer plain water, although talk of squeezing lemons into water is making me think twice about that. My kids love the Mio, but I won't be buying more. I'll probably just let them finish off the bottle we have. I prefer crystal light's flavor to the Mio, but still prefer plain water to either- they just taste kind of funny and have a weird aftertaste to me.
  • Thanks for the replies!

I like Mio a lot better than crystal light personally xD

I tried both lemon squeeze and cucumber slices in water and thought it was terrible D:

I tried the "Sweet Tea" flavor... once. It was N-A-S-T-Y! Needless to say I didn't drink any more, after the first glass and poured the rest of the pitcher down the drain.

I have yet to try any other flavors, I mostly stick to plain tea or just water now.

Agreed. People will make stuff up always not thinking people won't look, or are too lazy to look. If you squirt too much, it will taste like crap. I do it enough to taste like somewhat sugar water. Life is good.

I have the Fruit Punch which isn't bad. I don't have a sweet tooth but, sometimes the thought of ANOTHER water is too much. I don't use the full recommened amount in the glass, maybe 1/3 -1/2 of what the packaging says.
Crystal Light is also a great alternative to plain water.

When i said it has something to do with Chlorine, its from researching awhile on the web, and part of the chemical process used to create this "sugar" were parts from chlorine molecules.

I am not saying its bad, or any other artificial water additive, just it didn't like me, tho i enjoyed the flavour. All things in moderation. If this were all you drank just like any juice or "alternative" sweetner, there would be some negative effects over time. Otherwise, power to you. To each his own.

I'm not saying that it didn't agree with you. I'm saying that chlorine has nothing to do with it.

    1) There are no chlorine molecules. There are chlorine atoms. It's an element; it doesn't get any smaller than chlorine unless you want to go into atomic particles. There were no "parts of chlorine molecules" that did anything to you.

    2) There are chlorine atoms in tons of things you eat, salt being the most obvious one, as it is 50% chlorine and 50% sodium. Unless you are eating straight up chlorine (like pool cleaner), it's not doing anything to your system.

And, no, there are no proven negative effects. This IS all I drink, unless I'm drinking soda or alcohol.

I don't touch the stuff because it has artificial color. Do some research and you'll find how dangerous food coloring is. I add lemons or limes or cucumber slices to my water pitcher.

OH GOODNESS, here comes everyone "artificial flavors!" "artificial sweetners!" "artificial colors!" Give me a break!

I don't drink it because I think it tastes like crap. It has a funky aftertaste to me. But if you like it, GO FOR IT!
