scar, show it or not

Every scar has a story, it's personal and never ever shameful. It never makes me feel disgusted or like staring. It's just something you have on your body.
Besides, I'd be too busy checking out your body (not flattery, truth) to pay attention to any scar. Have you seen yourself? #hotabs.

this! you've worked hard for your body, don't let a silly scar hold you back!!0 -
Wear it proudly. I have a huge 1 inch wide by 7 inches long scar on my back right shoulder. I got it from having a cancerous tumor removed 2 yrs ago. I was a little self conscious at first as well but I also make jokes about how it got there.
Example: Last summer at a beach a couple of younger kids were sitting behind me talking about my scar and making comments. Nothing rude, but def loud enough I could hear them.
I turned around and without missing a beat told them I got into a fight with ninjas in an alley while protecting some homeless orphans.0 -
I wouldn't be disgusted at all. I'd notice it and perhaps wonder what the story behind it was, but I wouldn't think of your body as ugly just because of a scar. Don't be afraid of wearing a bikini, you're beautiful! :flowerforyou:0

i think they prefer the term "little people"0

Huh? Scars dont make me think of anything. Neither do stretch marks. People notice these things a lot less than you think0

You have to wear your scars like badges of honor. Some of the toughest stuff we go through leaves no scars behind to prove that we've been to hell and back. Show what you can and just know that you are one tough chick for getting through something like that.
I have 3 scars on my abdomen from when my appendix ruptured when I was 16. They bothered me at first but not now. I nearly died! It's one heck of a story and I'm proud that I came out on top.
I also have a much bigger scar up the back of neck from having my spine fused 5.5 years ago. Long, crazy story short, 15 years of awful chronic migraines being caused by 1 undiagnosed unstable vertebra. I had the surgery, went through one heck of a long recovery (have someone drill a hole in your spine and tell me what you think!), and now I live a life I only dreamed of for 15 years, and through those 15 years I never gave up the hope that there was an answer.
Wear it proudly sister! It means you made it through some tough stuff and came out kicking butt on the other side!0 -
I have scars, stretch marks and a *kitten* apron of fabulous magnitude, and I wouldn't let that stop me wearing a bikini. The police, on the other hand, may say something. But I reckon you rock it and have no need to feel self conscious about it. People may notice it, but only in the same way you notice people who wear glasses, iykwim. I say that you should tan those abs:-)0
-
You go for it!!! If I had the chance, I would Life is short, babe, so live while you can!!0

Scars get people talking, every one of them tells a story...look at how many people have talked on here now about the things that have happened to them, so you really shouldnt worry.
And personally, if you hadnt mentioned it first and i was looking at your pic and amazing body, i dont think id have even noticed it.0 -
I have a c-section scar, a scar on the back of my thigh from a muscle biopsy and scars all around my um..bikini area from having about about 20 cysts removed in the last thirty years. If we let our scars worry us we'll never be able to relish in our accomplishments. It's just part of your body now. Embrace it.
And be proud of the knife fight you won while saving the elderly woman from that awful mugger!0 -
I go to a lot of music festies every summer here in the UK. It always amazes me how many people, men & women, have some pretty gnarly scars. And that nobody takes any notice.
Scars are just a sign you've survived, never ever be ashamed of them.:flowerforyou:0 -
Red Badge of Courage. Wear it with pride.0

Scars show you have lived,
Scars are part of us and should not be hidden0 -
Wear your scars proudly...they are part of you and tell a story of part of your life. I have scars from gallbladder surgery also, mine are just three separate cuts tho, and many more that I probably bore my kids with when we get to talking about them:laugh:0
-
I'd say a scar caused by ninja midgets removing an organ is definitely worth showing off.
LOL - Totally agree. You have no worries, you look great!0 -
Battle wounds of life you wear with pride!! Rock that *kitten* girl:drinker:0

The scars and things you have are not stare-inducing. If someone had an extra ear on their face or a crazy look in their eyes that they were born with (you kinda have to see someone like that to know what I mean), or something really distracting to be stare inducing or rather, avoiding to stare. The other thing is when people wear clothes that are way too small or innapropriate for them. Everyone has imperfections by living in this world (well I guess most of us, including me). I wouldn't worry about that scar. If you get a light tan just from being out (while using sunblock), then that might make it less noticable if it bothers you. BUt I would just play up everything you like. Nice tousled hair down, nice bikini that accentuates everything you're proud of. Don't worry about it. That's my opinion.0
-
Nothing to be ashamed of, part of life and plenty people have them so I'd say go for it. It's totally up to you though, you need to feel comfortable and confident.
You look great in your pic anyway0 -
I don't see anything wrong with showing it. If you're still not sure, you might try Mederma to fade it. I have a keloid scar on my back. I understand your hesitance.0
-
I have scars on my heand,
no problem showing them
you rock that bikini, wear it with pride!0 -
Yes, I would show it if I were you. I find scars interesting0
-
It is your battle scar. I agree with another poster that every scar has a story. I believe that scars make people that much more unique and one of a kind. I to have a scar on my tummy, mine is white though and has pucker spots. I had surgery on my stomach when I was only 1 month old so from then to my current age of 33 it has stretched a lot and makes my stomach appear to be lopsided, there is a large indentation where the scar is. I used to be embarrassed about it growing up but people always told me it wasnt too bad and that I looked just fine and that I shouldnt worry about it.0

Wow your scar is pretty high on your abdomen. I had my gallbladder removed and my scar is pretty much beside my belly button but it' about the same length as yours. I will never show my scar to anyone because, unfortunately I have scar hypertrophy so it's pretty ugly looking. I can't feel anything around the scar tissue either. Which freaks me out.
Your scar is nothing to be ashamed at. Show it off girl. You look amazing.0 -
Your scar is part of you. Don't be ashamed of it. I used to be self concious of scars and stretch marks--and just in a big one piece until I met a woman years ago who had been hit on the upper thigh by buckshot. It was an accident where she got in the way of her brothers playing around. She ROCKED a bikini and didn't care who saw it. That, right there, changed my attitude. Go for it. Anyone who is disgusted can move away or look at something else. Live your life being who you are and apologize to no one!0

[...] I am already very reticent to wear a bikini because of my stretch marks, then you add the scar and I might just wear it in my bedroom. So please tell me the truth, would you be disgusted if you saw me at your public pool? [...]
This scar is like ink on a paper - it tells a story.
There's nothing disgusting in that.0 -
Wear that 2 piece proud girl....when I had my gall bladder removed, I sneezed and popped open one of my incissions, they couldn't close it back up, so it looks like I have been shot, but I feel if I feel good enough to wear a 2 piece in public then I don't care what other people think.....I wear it.0
-
Everyone has scars! They're nothing to be ashamed of, and you rock that bikini. I say wear it with pride.0
-
Honestly, that scar isn't to bad. You should wear your bikini! People will be staring at your rockin body not focusing on your scar. It's not that big or dark or scary looking. If you are still nervous, get a tan...that always hides my little stretch marks I hate to show, it might help with the scar too.0
-
nah scars are cool! you should totally show it off! it'll serve as a warning sign for other midget ninjas that may wanna mess with ya.0
-
Wear it! You look awesome!!
I have a huge scar that looks like a reverse c section. It isn't I had an emergency operation and it saved my life that or i was in a battle with a Urikai orc still not sure what happened.. I also have stretch marks. I'm super skinny because of what caused the cause of scar. I joined here to get help to gain weight. It is working! I'm going to gain weight. I've gained 3 lbs this week! I started going to the gym about a month ago to gain muscle and weight. I'm on my way.
I was very self conscious about both, but you and everyone here has convinced me not to be ashamed of them.0
