Private Daily Diary

Now I'm not going to be mean our judgmental. But having a private diary defeats the purpose of receiving support, advice and direction towards your goal. Why post? Am I suppose to say ” good job logging” when I don't even know what you logged for me to think its good?

Working out and eating junk does not equal reaching you're goal. Most blogs I see people eating fast food and adding light chores as an exercise. Um...no.,I'm not going to waste my time supporting you and answering your question ”why am I not losing any weight?”. I need to see your diary to help.

I agree. you are attacking people who are probably need the most support. you seem like on of those people that are very insecure about themselves and need others to tell you that you are beautiful everyday. So try to support others and treat others like you would have been treated

Not when the person says they don't want anyone's advice. Why do you need pals? Why post your diary? Why ask 'dum' questions no one can answer for you but you?

    So unfriend them, then.

Not everyone is here for support. Some are here to be social while also doing their own nutritional or fitness thing.

To think everyone is here for the same reason you are here is very presumptuous.

I am on here for friendly support from people who are also losing weight.

My diary is private, and it will remain that way. I'm losing weight, I'm eating fine, so I don't need anyone's advice on how to eat, so there's no reason to open my diary. Someone does not need to see what I am eating every day in order to offer friendly support, the same way I don't need to see what they're eating. Supporting someone is not just 'good job on eating x amount of calories today.'

I rarely check people's diaries, unless they ask for people to in order to tell them where they're going wrong

Working out and eating junk does not equal reaching you're goal.

Sometimes I eat my entire calorie limit in junk food and then work out. Not often, but occasionally.

    I'm 37lbs down. -shrugs-

I keep my diary private because I don't want any feedback on my diet..plain and simple. Why would that fact bother anyone else?

So....once again another 'why are their diary's not public' post!!!

Why...because I'm an adult and it's nobody's business what I eat. In the end the only person I need to be accountable to is myself.

Also - people have been known to make snarky remarks on open diary's. If you're not my doctor or my nutritionist you're not qualified to make judgments on my calorie intake

And - some people have food allergies, are lactose intolerant, have diabetes ect.....it's between them and their doctors what they should or should not be eating. It's a private matter.

It's IS also possible to support, motivate and inspire someone with out seeing their diary.

I'm here for my own benefit and to give some advice. I don't ask to be friends with anyone, and I don't friend anyone. That's not my purpose here.

TBH, I don't even think to look at people's diaries. I just assume they're as private as I am.

I have my diary only open to those people that I have chosen to be friends with. The diary is for my benefit no one else's. I don't need random people telling me what to eat unless I ask for help. If I were to post in the forums asking for specific assistance, then sure it would be beneficial to have an open diary. But I don't and what I'm doing seems to be working pretty well for me.

You "yourself" are the only one that is responsible for what you eat and the actions that you take to reach your weight loss goal.

As I have said before, "You are your worst enemy when it comes to losing weight"

Not this again?? I don't need others to see what I eat to reach my own personal goals. Sometimes I open it, sometimes I close it. It's MY food intake....it has nothing to do with others. My friends can see how much I exercise or if I gain or lose weight. Sometimes if I feel like it, they can see my meals. Regardelss, those things being seen by others or having other people say "WTG!!" means nothing to my goals/success.

I admit that it can be hard to comment on the fact that someone completed their diary, outside of the fact that they DID it. You have to assume they did, anyway. I know someone who only fills in breakfast...about 300 calories....then hits the 'complete" button. I dont comment on it....there isnt much I can say without sounding like I am preaching.

Plus....if I have it open all the time, I won't log the bottles of wine I often drink therefore I am just lying to myself for your benefit.

Exactly. When I first joined, I had NO intention of having "friends" on here. After awhile I added some and love them....but that aspect of this site has NOTHING to do with my success or failure. Zero.

"I need to see your diary to help"

Shoot I WISH all it took was for someone to look at my diary and "help" me lose this last 5-8 pounds. That's just not how it works. I KNOW what it will take.....now *I* just have to DO it! (By putting down the wine) :drinker:

First, I'm one of those with their "diary closed"... I don't need anyone's help with what I'm eating or not eating. I've worked hard and I've reached my goals. I'm in maintenance and sometimes I log my foods, sometimes I don't. I'm trying to do this without having to log every bite I take, I became over obsessive about every little bite and I was causing myself more harm than good. Now I'm more laxed about things, instead of having comments like "you need to eat more" or "you're not eating enough" I keep my food intake to myself. If I want that taco, I eat it! If I want that ice cream I eat it! I keep everything within my daily allowance, healthy or non-healthy. I workout like a dog 5-6 days a week to be able to enjoy those little things and no I don't need you or anyone else looking at my diary to tell me I've done a poor job or good job. We're here for support and you don't have to see what I'm doing to support me.

******STOPPPPP ITTT!! Do you have to eat healthy to lose weight or have low body fat? NO YOU DON'T..World class athletes such as Michael Phelps actually have to consume lots of carbs. In fact his training diet consists of 12,000 calories DAILY. Yes dialy.

My son who is a swimmer eats like this also. It's about enegry in versus energy out. If you burn MORE calories than you are consuming then you are going to lose weight.

For me..i like everyone on here. I have friends who need to lose A LOT of weight. Some of them are NOT ready but need the support. To dismiss them would be wrong in my eyes.

If you don't want them to be friends simply delete them. But to dismiss them because they are eating unhealthy..well that seems to defeat WHY we should be on here. To help people versus slamming them and shutting them out isnt my agenda.

^^^^ this! Don't pass judgement on someone because they do not eat the way you do. My friends can see what I've eaten, and that's fine with me. I can see what a lot of them eat too. Am I going to jump down their neck about that serving of chips they ate???? Of course not! And who knows, maybe that in itself was a victory for them. Maybe only having one serving and putting it up is way better then them eating the while bag like they used to.

I had my diary open for a little while. But then I caught myself being tempted to not log everything so that it would look better, which is ridiculous. So I made my diary private again. That just seems to work much better for me at this stage.

I'm in the very beginning of my journey. As I go along, I may open it up, who knows.

The simple answer is because each of us are invovled in this process for ourselves.
I'm getting healthier for me (and my husband and family), but not for anyone who is on this site.

If I choose to leave my diary open - which I do - that's because I don't care if people look at it or not. If they want to and they find it helpful, that's great. If they don't want to look at it, that's fine by me too. If anyone wants to look at my diary and criticise it - be my guest, but I'm not going to change my eating habits on the basis of unsolicited advice from (almost certainly) unqualified strangers.

I'll quote something I've read on a similar thread in the past:
"you do you and I'll do me".

    Got it?
