I have my diary only open to those people that I have chosen to be friends with. The diary is for my benefit no one else's. I don't need random people telling me what to eat unless I ask for help. If I were to post in the forums asking for specific assistance, then sure it would be beneficial to have an open diary. But I don't and what I'm doing seems to be working pretty well for me.0

I really hate these kinds of threads. My diary is CLOSED...and regardless of what YOU or anyone else thinks about it..it will remain closed. If I want your advice...which I don't....I will ask. Worry about your OWN diary..worry about what YOU put in YOUR mouth..and quit trying to dictate what someone else does. It really is NON'YADAM'BITNESS!!
Besides....you gotta lil too much jelly on yo rolls to be tryin to judge mine.

I spent years working out and eating like **** and I can say it will not work at all. If you saw me you would not think Id been going to the gym for 10 yrs on and off.
Yeah but some people think they can eat anything and they will lose weight.
Damgummit...another one!!! Yes you CAN eat anything..and still lose weight. The trick is eating less of it. Get a damn clue..THEN start a thread. Don't come on here with this "holier than thou" attitude....educate yourself..then spread some REAL knowledge.
Do you actually think a taco..or a cup of gelato is gonna derail anyone's weightloss train....no!!! Instead of reaching for 2...reach for 1..then walk away.
Eating less of the foods you love..WORKS!!!
Weightloss is lifelong.....your foods have to be lifelong as well. Choose foods you love..it will make your journey easier and more pleasant. Seriously, how far do you think your weightloss journey will go..if you deprive yourself of everything you love?
Eat what you love and even try new foods
Eat less of it
Exercise.......incorporate strength training=
Lose weight and inches…while transforming your body.0 -
I have my diary open, but respect those that dont and I still give motivation to those that have theirs on private. I could be wrong but isn't your diary closed too? At any rate like I said even if yours is private I respect that!0

Just because I'm on MFP does not mean someone has the right to know every detail about my personal life. Some people are open about everything in their life and if that works for them great but I don't need to be telling everyone what I'm eating , when I'm peeing, when I'm exercising, when I'm doing ....(fill in the blank). This new electronic area seems to make people think they have the right to know everything and say anything to people- just because you're not face to face with someone doesn't mean you should say or post anything you want. I would not go up to, pretty much a stranger, and say so what exactly did you eat to day and when did you work out and what did you do and then tell them that what they are doing isn't right. I live by if I wouldn't say it to your face I'm not going to post it on the net. JMO0

I have had mine open in the past, but now it is private. I also have clicked the button in my settings so that when I complete my diary it doesn't get posted. So nobody sees if I have or have not stayed under my calories because I don't want people to feel the need to say anything about it when they have no idea what I did/didn't eat.
And I keep it private because I will be honest about what I ate that day if it is for my eyes only. Some bad days I might not be if others can read it.0 -

Now I'm not going to be mean our judgmental. But having a private diary defeats the purpose of receiving support, advice and direction towards your goal. Why post? Am I suppose to say ” good job logging” when I don't even know what you logged for me to think its good?
Working out and eating junk does not equal reaching you're goal. Most blogs I see people eating fast food and adding light chores as an exercise. Um...no.,I'm not going to waste my time supporting you and answering your question ”why am I not losing any weight?”. I need to see your diary to help.

So....once again another 'why are their diary's not public' post!!!
Why...because I'm an adult and it's nobody's business what I eat. In the end the only person I need to be accountable to is myself.
Also - people have been known to make snarky remarks on open diary's. If you're not my doctor or my nutritionist you're not qualified to make judgments on my calorie intake
And - some people have food allergies, are lactose intolerant, have diabetes ect.....it's between them and their doctors what they should or should not be eating. It's a private matter.
It's IS also possible to support, motivate and inspire someone with out seeing their diary.

My diary became private the day someone sent me a rude PM yelling at me that I was eating all the wrong foods and that french fries (which I have on occasion) aren't "diet foods". I didn't even know this person! What I eat is my business and if my eating plan is working for me then why is it anyone's business?
I have a lot of foods I can't eat due to my health issues and allergies so I have to make due with what I CAN eat. I also have food textures issues which prevents me from eating certain things and trying many new things. I don't eat fish, red meat or pork (with the exception of a burned piece of bacon once in awhile on a BLT) so that limits my choices down even more.
I think the person who originally posted this thread needs to get a life. But that's just my opinion.0 -
I keep mine private because I don't see the need to share everything I eat with everyone else on the site. I know I eat healthy and I keep myself accountable for everything I eat, and I was sick of people nitpicking me for eating a half cup of ice cream if I wanted it.0

Simple put on your profile you delete people with close diaries and stop worrying bout what others are doing.0

Were we separated at birth? Because I felt like I was reading my own thoughts right here!! I eat what I want...and I exercise...and I'm losing weight and inches. I will not eat something I don't like, just because it's supposed to be "good" for me. That will only last for so long. I'm sure alot of people cringe when they look at my diary - and I DON'T CARE...it's MY diary....

I agree. you are attacking people who are probably need the most support. you seem like on of those people that are very insecure about themselves and need others to tell you that you are beautiful everyday. So try to support others and treat others like you would have been treated

Besides, so what if people don't want the world to know what their eating, I didn't have mu diary open when I first started because of judgmental people thinking I'm gross because I eat carbs or something. Honestly it's their choice if they want everyone to see it, and it's your CHOICE to make supportive comments. Just leave the person alone and let them lose their weight in what ever way they see comfortable.0 -
