I do very well in my field and I worked VERY hard to get here and put a lot of wear and tear on my body (mostly in the form of airplane miles and LOTS of food which is why I found myself at 340lbs). But I was able to switch into a different position and no more travel. I think I do great and after I am done paying off my ex-wife all her alimony (stupid california why do I have to pay a woman who cheated on ME) I'll get a very nice BUMP in monthly income. Plus, I cook and clean and I kinda do laundy (i need somone to fold it or else it just gets stuffed in the drawers)

Is that the answer your looking for???

Wait, why do you have to pay someone who cheated on you? As for your field. Hm, guessing, engineer? Or maybe regional or national manager?

Okay, wild guesses due to people I know in these fields. Mostly, I'm just boggling at the idea of paying someone who cheated on me anything. That's freaking ridiculous.

Calfiornia law - sposual support is a mathmatical formula doesn't matter who did what or why your getting divorced. They take the amount of money each person makes or has the potential to make plug it into an equation and F%*%*K the person that makes more. Yes, I have a Systems Engineering degree from the University of Arizona and have held several tites from Software Developer/Engineer to Sales Engineer and now I my title is back to Software Engineer

I have a very generous salary, but unfortunately you tend to spend what you make. :/

I'm an engineer, my job title is Project Manager.

I make plenty of money for my needs. But I don't make a lot per hour: $8 and I work 42 hours a week.(along with being a full-time college student) Not really a lot by most people's standards, but it's enough for me to pay for what I need and some of what I want.

Own my own business as a writer, I'm making enough to get by OK, all things considered.

Sorry I make jack **** as a nurse...I outta get paid a whole HELL of a lot more...had stomach contents spilled on my foot yesterday...just as an example...UGH:grumble:

I feel like I should get paid more too. I'm a Home Health Aid, and with the company I'm with, I know I'm underpaid (like I said in a previous post $8/hr whereas some of my friends who do the same job for a different company get $10-12/hour). Unfortunately, I happen to love the client I'm working with, so I'm not about to switch companies.

*grin* I'm a good guesser, even if it is a wide field, making it quite easy. Now I'm also trying to figure out what my contracts professor would make of this. Why should you have to pay when the divorce is caused by someone who violated the contract?

No I'm not a lawyer, down, sugar momma seekers, down!

$29.50 per Hour.... but the job market is horrible so I only work 1 1/2 day's per week. I use to work 2 1/2 days a week but I was permanently laid off last fall. I'm a Dental Hygienist

    E N G I N E E R here!

If I wasn't a fool who let her lack of math skills hobble her, I'd be in this field one way or the other. Logic, facts, these are the true holy grails of humanity.

I'm a financial advisor and I'll tell you straight up it's not how much you make but how much you spend. If you earn an average wage but are frugal you can easily live the same general lifestyle as someone who makes twice or even 3 times what you do but has to have the latest toys and fanciest car. You may not be playing Angry Birds on your iPhone while riding in your Lexus but you can live in the same neighborhood, have mney in the bank, go on nice vacations, and not have to worry about finances.

We make less than our neighbor. He's high ranking military but they are just renting. We own a 3369 sqft house here that we live in and a 2376 sq ft house in AZ that we rent out. They drive a 2011 Lexus and a 2012 BMW that they leased. We drive a 2000 minivan that we bought brand new for cash. They all have iPhones. I have a T-Mobile that I got for free when I signed up under my sister's plan. They run their AC all summer long, practically until it's time to turn on the heat. I keep the AC at 79/80 and open the windows at night if it's going to be down into the 60s. They shop at Neimann Marcus. I can't remember the last piece of clothing I bought for myself that wasn't from Goodwill or a garage sale. She gets a mani/pedi every week. I do my own nails. She pays $250 at the salon every month for a cut and dye. I dye my own hair. When we talk finances they just assumed that we made a lot more than them. I told her we make quite a bit less but it's just all in how you spend it.

Another suggestion that I cannot stress enough is to start your kids out right. If they get money for birthdays/Christmas/allowance set up a mutual fund account and put it in there. If you start your child off with $1000 at birth and put in $500/yr after that earning an average of 10% interest they will have approximately $55,000 by the time they are 25.

Ahh yes - I'm only in my 2nd year of work - being paid 3x what I was living off when I was at uni - but somehow feel no better off than when I was at uni? Thankfully my partner and I wised up to our spending habits and how they weren't contributing any more to our happiness, so we now both live off my income - and his goes to the holiday fund - Somehow I still don't notice the difference between being able to spend it all myself and sharing with Bennett. Isn't that weird?? But good I guess, because we are just as happy as we were before, can afford our needs and wants, and are somehow saving a bunch of money haha.

I think a lot of the extra money goes on food -because if we have extra money in the account (like when we first get paid) we eat out a lot more - and then when there's less in the account we will go to the grocery store haha.

Ahhh so true! Things aren't important, but when you get paid more it can be easy to forget that and buy them. Sometimes I think, oh it would be nice to have a new car - but then I think, I'm doing fine sharing with my boyfriend - and I'd rather spend that money on a holiday or as a deposit on a house
