  • WOW. I never seen such judgemental people on this site, but I guess this post was where to find them.
I am not going to say I agree with Poly relationships, but don't sit here and type all of this bull to her. Like seriously, she put it in the chit chat and fun, maybe she just wanted to see someone like her.

If you don't like it, don't say anything to it. Wow, learn how to respect someone else's culture. Please.

    ^ This, seriously!!

I'm not in a polyamorous relationship but I know a bunch of people who are. To the ignorant and judgmental jerks in this thread: it's not your job to police what kind of relationships people can be happy in, and it's definitely not your job to tell people that an innocuous discussion of their relationships don't belong here. I think it's sad you choose to your lives with negativity when hatred makes you an ugly person. Take a moment and really consider the kind of presence you want to have in this world and the example you'd set for others with your actions, hmm?

Having nothing really to add about polyamory, I love your knitting Darth Vader thing, OP.

When a girl pictured with a gun in her hand says "live and let live", I'm inclined to comply.

It's a chit-chat forum...those who don't like it have the option to click elsewhere...

    Haha thank you!

Take your fettish to CRAIGS LIST ! These boards are for intelligent and healthy minded people.
    unreal.

Intellegent? Craigslist is one word! Fetish only has one 't'

Polyamorous: The practice, state or ability of having more than one sexual loving relationship at the same time, with the full
knowledge and consent of all partners involved.

It has absolutely nothing to do with fetishism.

Is it the fact that her 'mister' is bi that bothers people? If so, thats pretty homophobic.

What exactly is unhealthy minded about it?

sorry but I dont even know what you are talking about????

It's a mixture of a Latin word (poly = many) and a Greek word (amory = love).

It's way of distinguishing relationships that are more complicated than a couple from what is traditionally thought of as "polygamy" because while polygamy means literally "multiple marriages" in our culture, the de facto meaning is "polygyny" which means multiple wives.

Polyamorous relationships are more inclusive and equal than traditional polygyny and can be in multiple combinations.

Let's not leave out polyandry, now

Kinda gross but if thats what you're into :drinker:

(question, if you get preggo does it matter who's the dad or is it everyones baby?)
you do realize that only ONE sperm makes a baby so the kid would only have one father! Its really the basics of biology with this one...have a tenth grader explain it to you...
She said she's f'ing two guys...how will she know who's sperm did it? And don't try to school anyone on basic bio as if anyone asked you. Since polyamorous means everyone is in the relationship, I'm wondering does everyone share parental duties as well. Cause you know...one of the rare side effects of sex is pregnancy. You should try reading a book and maybe you'll learn that
There are pretty simple blood tests to determine the father. I assumed that was obvious. Geez...calm down. Such a hateful person you are on this fine Saturday afternoon!!

No need to judge, people. Many cultures have been polyamorous. Just because ours isn't too keen on it, doesn't mean it's wrong for her. It wouldn't bode well with my mister and myself, because we're very emotional (and jealous) people, but to each their own. I hope you and your mister (and your misters) are happy.

    This!

While this is not my cup of tea, I am not sure how this post is any worse than many of the other ones that wind up on this board. I don't even know if it is worse than some of them or if "worse" is even the right word to use. But really the only difference here is that this is something some of you are not used to seeing.

    ^^^Agreed

Wait.... why did you post this here then? Because intelligent people realize that polyamorous relationships, like pretty much any other relationship type you can think of, happen naturally in many species.

Amazing how judgemental people can be on a site where we are all different but essentially working towards one common goal. Sheesh.

Polyamorous relations are not accepted in JudeoChristian culture, so don't be surprised when people point their finger.

One of the Bible's earliest polygamists was the Israelite patriarch Jacob. When Jacob lusted after Rachel, the daughter of the wealthy landowner Laban, Laban pulled a switcheroo and sent his other daughter, Leah, to the bridal bed instead. When Jacob discovered that he had been tricked, he didn't bemoan the fact that his wife was not the woman he wanted. Nor did he seek a divorce. Nope, he bargained with Laban and ended up marrying both his daughters!
"And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also."
    —Genesis 29:28
Ultimately, Jacob ended up with four wives/concubines - not just Leah and Rachel but their handmaids Bilhah and Zilpah. Jacob was not condemned by God for this arrangement, and in fact the twelve children he had by his multiple wives ended up becoming the progenitors of the twelve tribes of Israel.
Jacob was just one of many polygamists in the Bible. Some others included Gideon (Judges 8:30), Elkanah, father of the prophet Samuel (1 Samuel 1:2), and kings such as Abijah (2 Chronicles 13:21), Rehoboam (2 Chronicles 11:21), and Jehoiada (2 Chronicles 24:3). Most famously, Solomon himself had "seven hundred wives... and three hundred concubines" (2 Kings 11:3). None of these royal polygamists were chastised or punished by God for this - except for Solomon, but even here the exception proves the rule. According to the Bible, Solomon's sin was not that he married many wives, but that he married foreign wives who turned him away from worshipping Yahweh (11:4).

I meant in today's context. You can find lots in the Bible. My main point is that it's not accepted. I really doubt the culture in Montana is vastly different than other states. She can do whatever she wants. If she doesn't like being judged, then she can be a normal person. If she doesn't care, then she'll like do whatever she wants. Don't expect everyone to accept you.

Honestly, this forum is meant to be UPLIFTING. I am so discouraged right now because people come here to connect with others who they can share common interests with. They want support and motivation from someone who understands them. I think it's disgusting how some people are responding to this post.

Hi folks! As a friendly reminder to all that these forums are not to be used as a platform for insults. re: guideline #1: No Attacks or Insults and No Reciprocation

    a) Do not attack, mock, or otherwise insult others. You can respectfully disagree with the message or topic, but you cannot attack the messenger. This includes attacks against the user’s spelling or command of written English, or belittling a user for posting a duplicate topic.
    b) If you are attacked by another user, and you reciprocate, you will also be subject to the same consequences. Defending yourself or a friend is not an excuse! Do not take matters into your own hands – instead, use the Report Post link to report an attack and we will be happy to handle the situation for you.

We recommend either passing on the opportunity to post in this thread and/or joining a group specific to this topic. Most non-political and non-sexual topics are allowed on the public forums but we reserve the right to encourage any conversation to be moved to the groups if we feel the topic is not being handled civilly.

    Thanks again for your understanding!
