Accents

I just called customer service and the girl that was helping me asked where I was from because I have a "sexy accent". Made me laugh and then I got to thinking what I consider to be a sexy accent...

Put a man who speaks like Jason Statham in front of me and you can bet your bottom dollar that my panties will drop.

On the other hand, I find a southern accent to have the same effect on me as nails on a chalkoard or small dogs barking.

Your turn :)

I like Scottish and Irish accents. Otherwise no accent.

I feel the same way about the Southern accent.

I have a midwestern accent even though I live in Oregon now. I really hate mine, I try to make it sound more generic though lol

Am I the first to say British? Holy smokes. But the fancy British, not the brash British.

I have a Toronto accent. Apparently I say "a-boat" and "Eh".

ETA: I pronounce it Cher-onno too. LOL

I love that brash British accent. Dirty accent. And I love southern, and my ex was French Canadian - his accent was sexy as hell. I really don't care for Australian accents

I have a Brooklyn accent, so I can't talk. Or tawk.

Why did you have to START the thread with offending a whole group of people?

I find most accents have a certain effect on me lol Mostly Scottish (to the point that I find Craig Ferguson sexy) or British (Hugh Grant could read me the phone book and I'd be a very happy gal.) I'm Canadian and when I was down south I got complimented on my accent. I found that funny.

Australian....any plain guy is 5X hotter with an Aussie accent, and then of course Irish ;)

I have a "country" accent that comes out when I'm angry. Not sure if it could be southern, but I grew up on a farm haha.

OMG, really?! That's hilarious! I guess there are more granola crunchers around here than I first noticed. JK!!

I love old Degrassi. My grandparents used to live on Degrassi Rd. You could see their house in quite a few episodes!

It's so funny to read this, I am french with a very strong accent even after 3 years in the us !
but americans (especially guys ;) seem to love it, they tell me that all the time (after making me repeating the same stuff 3 times !)
I dont get it, because when I hear other fench people speak english, I find it horrible (o-ri-ble) !!

Cant believe how many people like Scottish accents haha! I dont like mine particularly. Sexy London accent, Irish, Australian, American... I'm not picky, but I dont think its just the accent its the tone and sound of the particular voice !

 being British, I'm finding it funny that you lovely Americans seem to enjoy the accents of our nation!

For me, Italian or French. But if I'm really honest, it's not an accent as such, but a voice, my fella has a lovely voice, I love talking to him on the phone!! ( and he's South West British!) :smooched:

I love British, Scottish and Irish accents, and all the complex variations depending on the exact area that a person is from.

I have a slightly 'hick' accent, although I can't hear it myself. I grew up on a farm in Delaware, so my accent is a mix of southern and northeastern, and my uncles all had thick Alabama-style drawls.

I get told all the time that my voice and accent are hard to place, few people ever get it right, because it's a strange mix. I can however pick out someone from Maryland/Delaware in a heartbeat most of the time if I hear them on the phone or talking nearby.

    Sexier Accent...
Group 1: Sandra Bullock, Julia Roberts, Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Channing Tatum, Zach Galiafinakis
Group 2: Conan O'Brien, Scott Wolf, Leonard Nimoy, Eliza Dushku, James Spader, Uma Thurman, Matt Damon

Which group would you rather listen to?
