It would be easy to help you guys if your diary was open.
It was set for friends only, I just made my diary public.0 -
I have been eating 1400 calories a day. If it is a day I do double workouts, I will go up to 1500 calories.
I have myself set up for 45% carb, 25% fat and 30% protein. I usually hit those %'s daily ( give or take some days)
You can either bump up your calories to 1800 on X days, and 200 on double workout days, or you can post your height, weight and age and we can figure out a more precise number.
I'm 36, 5 ft 4, 142 lbs.
Based on your stats, you should be at 1750 on P90X days only and 2000 on days you do more. Or if it's a typical thing, eat at 1900 and split the different.0 -

I'm so afraid I'm going to gain with highter calories. eeekkk0 -
Make sure you're getting at least 1g of protein per lbs bodyweight. It'll help preserve lean muscle mass, which will help you look better when all the weight is off.
Thanks. I get 1,320 cal, instead of 1,400. I will give it a shot.
Do you mean 1 g of protein per lbs. bodyweight, or lean muscle mass?0 -

I open my diary to friends only. I don't have a strong enough disposition to withstand some of the posters on this website. If you would like to send me a friend request, with a note, I would appreciate any guidance you may offer.0 -
I have been dieting for essentially 6 weeks with the last 25 being with the guidance of myfitnesspal... 99% of the time under my calorie goal and exercising the amount that I committed to. Why have I only lost 2 lbs when I am supposed to lose 1.5 a week? Please help! If anything, I over report calories and under-report exercise. Is it because I'm 35?0

Well it's obvious what you are doing isn't working, so why not try something different. You might gain a few pounds initially (water weight) but that will stabilize and you will drop after that. As an example, below is a response from another poster. She is 36 years old, 5'5" and did heavy weight training 4 days a week and NO cardio. She ate 2100 calories on WT days and 1800 on non workout days.
"I just wanted to thank you for your help. You helped me a few months back and I just wanted to give you an update on my progress. 12 weeks ago I started at 154 and 28% bf. I got my bf remeasured last Friday and it was 24%. But I only lost 1 pound. It is crazy to me but I have learned to ignore the scale. You were right that keeping consistent and not giving up my body would finally adjust.
Thanks again for your help!
Stephanie"

It's simple, if you burn 2200 calories a day, you can't gain fat. You would need to eat 2700 calories a day to gain a lb of fat in a week.0 -

Being under your calories isn't always a good thing. How much are you eating?0 -

girl you CANNOT be afraid you're going to gain by increase your calories! Your body NEEDS lots and lots of healthy clean food while doing something like P90X in addition to what else you do. Otherwise you're body is going to eat away at your muscle0 -
I'm supposed to eat 1240 a day and I eat about that. If I exercise, I eat those calories too. That was what was suggested by myfitnesspal.0

Ultimate advice!!!!! Buy yourself something you look great in and ENJOY how great you look!!!! Celebrate where you are!!!
Then, ask yourself honestly: Is this a plato or have I finally made it to my perfect weight?
Notice I said "perfect" and not "ideal." Sometimes if you aren't loosing anymore weight and you are eating and exercising then maybe this is where your body is at its best. If you are determined to loose more, try doing a totally new exercise. Get into doing something you never would have tried before. Paddle boarding, tennis, whatever you want. If you change your exercise routine once a month then you keep your body guessing and that scale moving!0 -
Thanks for the words of encouragement, but I'm overweight and I need to lose weight. I didn't hit a plateau. I have only lost 2 lbs altogether. I was about 40 lbs less, just 4 years ago. Wondering if my metabolism is just that bad.0

And with this method you do NOT eat back your exercise calories as its included in your tdee calculation.0 -

Lol double workouts.
simply put, if you are dieting you are putting the body under immense stress.
Add to that an intense workout and its asking for progress issues.
Slow down!
The body isnt getting all the nutrients it needs in the first place hence, weight loss!
Slow down!
The body isnt getting enough nutrients and now you work out double?!
Hence...the plateau.
I can almost guarantee if you do your workout routine 3 days a week youll se better results.0 -
If I friend you, can you access my info?0

I'm doing P90X, therefore exercising 3x a week ONLY is not an option for me. I spoke with someone last night and I'm going to increase my calories and go from there.
I don't consider myself on a "diet". I have changed my lifestyle and eating habits.0 -

The chances are...you will gain, but it's temporary and will go back down eventually once your body is adjusted. Well that happened to me.0 -

Well it was almost 3 weeks ago I increased my calories. I did initially gain. Which I was close to re adjusting again. But decided come on 1 more week with the higher calorie plan. Today I'm down 2.6 lbs. I think I finally broke that wall and I hope it keeps coming down.0
